Monologue
Mr Brown lives in a small village. He usually gets up at four o'clock every morning when it is still dark outside. He works on a farm. His home is next to the farm. He walks to the farm. So he doesn’t need to take a bus or train to work. There are many things to do on the farm all day long. He does jobs when they need doing and it could be early in the morning or late at night. There are many kinds of vegetables on the farm.
In the evening, he likes to play with his children. He has two children, a boy and a girl. They are six and eight years old. He also likes to study. Right now he is learning Chinese by distance learning.
When I take a walk around Washington Square Park, I often see a lot of people walking with dogs. People think the dog is the most useful and faithful animal in the world. There are many reasons for people to keep pet dogs. One is that they keep dogs in order to keep safe. But the most important reason is that they can have friends, because people feel lonely in large cities. For a child, a dog is his best friend when he has no friends to play with. For young couples, a dog is their child when they have no children. For old couples, a dog is also their child when their real children have grown up.
