The Double Ninth Festival is a festival for old people in China. It started long long time ago. The festival is on lunar September 9th. On this day, people show love to the old people.
People do many different kinds of things on this day. They enjoy flowers, eat special cakes and drink wine (酒). It’s very meaningful (有意义的).
The best way to celebrate (庆祝) it is climbing hills or mountains. People think climbing high will bring them good luck and help old people have long lives. The Double Ninth Festival is also a good time for a family to get together. They usually have a big meal. And young people give their gifts and best wishes to the old.
