语法填空:
The Divided Land
After World War II, Germany faced a painful division. The Allies __1__(decide) to divide the nation into four zones, _2_later merged into two divisional blocs: East Germany, under Soviet control, and West Germany, __3__(align) with the West. The Berlin Wall became the ultimate symbol of this split, a physical device enforcing
separation. For decades, the two Germanys developed differently. East Germany suppressed individual freedoms, __4__(promote) collective ideology, while West Germany embraced capitalism, attracting _5__(individualist) who thrived in its open society. The _6__(economy) dividend of democracy made the West prosper, while the East struggled under a rigid system where
the state acted as both divisor and distributor of resources.
Yet, despite the divide, many Germans never accepted the __7__(permenant) of separation. Protests grew in the 1980s, fueled by a _8_(long) for unity. Finally, in 1989, the Wall fell. The division collapsed, not __9_ force, but by the will of the people.
Germany ___10__(reunify), proving that no device of control could forever suppress a nation’s shared identity. The dividend of freedom was peace, and the once-divided land became whole again.
