The
Children's
Sleep

she
said.
Teachers
said
children
showing
signs
of
sleep
shortage
and
tiredness
in
class
were
a
concern
as
they
couldn't
concentrate
for
long
periods.
Psychologist
Amy
McClelland,
of
Sleep
Wales,
said
a
common
problem
was
children
being"over
excited"
and"not
having
the
chance
to
relax
property"
before
bed
and
families
should
get
back
to
basics.

4.In
an
attempt
to
handle
the
nation's
food
wastage
problem,
Denmark
has
opened
the
world's
very
first
supermarket—WeFood,
which
sells
products
that
are
damaged
or
soon
expired.
Ever
since
the
grand
opening
in
Copenhagen
last
Monday,
people
have
been
lining
up
outside
WeFood
for
a
chance
to
purchase
discounted
items
that
would
otherwise
have
ended
up
in
the
rubbish
bin
because
of
damaged
packaging
or
very
short
use
by
date.
The
items
at
WeFood
are
priced
at
least
30
to
50
percent
lower
than
at
regular
stores.
"WeFood
is
the
first
supermarket
of
its
kind
in
Denmark
and
perhaps
the
world,
as
it
is
not
just
aimed
at
low-income
shoppers
but
anyone
who
is
concerned
about
the
amount
of
food
wastage
produced
in
the
country,"
said
project
head
Per
Bjerre.
"Many
people
see
this
as
a
positive
and
politically
correct
way
to
deal
with
the
problem."
While
Denmark
alone
is
expected
to
waste
about
700,000
tons
of
food
every
year,
the
United
Nations
has
stated
that
globally,
food
wastage
amounts
to
1.3
billion
tons.
These
are
shocking
figures,
considering
the
fact
that
about
795
million
people
in
the
world
are
still
starving.
Denmark,
however,
has
adopted
several
measures
to
clean
up
its
act,
wasting
25%
less
food
than
it
did
five
years
ago.
One
such
active
move
is
founding
the
Food
Bank,
a
local
nonprofit
that
distributes
extra
food
to
homeless
shelters.
The
WeFood
project
is
a
cooperation
between
the
Food
Bank
and
a
religious
charity
Dan
Church
Aid.
The
WeFood
and
other
similar
projects
have
raised
nearly
$150,000
over
the
past
year.
The
store
is
now
run
mainly
by
volunteers.
Profits
are
used
to
support
Dan
Church
Aid's
other
projects
in
developing
nations
like
South?Sudan.
Provided
WeFood
remains
popular
in
the
long
term
and
if
it
is
able
to
keep
up
its
food
deliveries,
Dan
Church
Aid
plans
to
open
more
branches
across
Denmark.

5.
Jules
Verne
was
born
on
8
February
1828
in
the
French
city
of
Nantes.
From
an
early
age,
he
had
a
fascination
with
exploration
and
discovery.
When
he
was
six,
his
teacher,
Madame
Sambin,
told
him
stories
about
her
husband,
who
disappeared
while
travelling
the
world
on
a
ship
30
years
before.
She
told
her
class
that
he
was
like
Robinson
Crusoe,
a
fictional
castaway
who
lived
on
a
desert
island.
Verne
would
later
write
stories
about
similar
characters.
In
1847,
Verne
was
sent
by
his
family
to
study
law
at
a
university
in
Paris,
but
he
preferred?to
write
novels,
poems
and
plays.
After
graduating,
he
realized
he
wanted
to
write
adventure
stories
based
on
science
and
technology.
This
had
never
been
done
before,
but
Verne
was
sure
that
it
would
be
a
success.
His
first
story,
Five
Weeks
in
a
Balloon,
was
published
in
September?1862.
His
career
lasted
for
more
than
40
years,
during
which
time
he
wrote
more
than
60
gripping
stories.
To
begin
with,
Verne
wrote
positive
and
optimistic
books.
Many
of
these
were
to
be
his
most
popular
creations.
Although
some
included
fantastical
elements,
they
were
usually
based
on
scientific
facts,
making
them
believable.
These
happy
stories
weren't
to
last.
As
he
got
older,
Verne
became
less
confident
in
the
idea
that
science
and
technology
were
always
good
for
the
planet.
His
books
started
to
include
more
scientists
who
used
technology
for
their
own—sometimes
evil—purposes.
Verne
died
on
24
March
1905,
but
new
books
continued
to
be
published
until
1919.
These
stories
were
based
on
ideas
Verne
had
written
about
while
he
was
still
alive,
but
featured
new
characters
and
plots
created
by
his
son,
Michel.
In
the
20th
century,
his
books
were
translated
into
more
than
140
languages
and
several
successful
film
versions
were
released.
His
creations
have
been
recognized
as
an
inspiration
for
many
scientists
and
inventors.
Many
of
the
futuristic
ideas
from
his
most
popular
books
have
since
come
true.
