第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
I
have
a
pretty
good
idea
of
how
big
Lake
Superior
is
because
I
walked
all
the
way
around
it.
I
walked
about
ten
miles
a
day,
and
it
took
me
five
and
a
half
months.
Lake
Superior
was
created
by
a
glacier
a
mile
thick,
which
pushed
south
from
Canada.
It
dug
a
huge
basin
that
filled
with
water
when
the
glacier
melted
about
ten
thousand
years
ago.
All
the
soil
was
blown
off,
leaving
behind
only
hard
rocks.
The
Cascade
River
falls
over
rocky
pools
before
running
into
the
lake.
(Cascade
River
State
Park,
Minnesota)
This
is
one
of
my
favorite
places
on
the
trip.
Here
the
trail
runs
over
some
of
the
oldest
and
hardest
rocks
on
Earth.
(Pukaskwa
National
Park,
Ontario,
Canada)
This
rock
painting
was
made
by
Ojibway
Indians.
It
records
a
crossing
of
the
lake
by
about
fifty
men
in
four
or
five
canoes.
(Lake
Superior
Provincial
Park,
Ontario,
Canada)
I
was
surprised
to
be
treated
in
such
a
special
way
by
the
people
I
met
on
my
trip.
I
got
gifts
of
food
and
invitations
to
share
meals
and
stay
in
people’s
homes.
Somehow
the
trip
was
important
to
these
people,
too.
People
asked
me
questions
like
“What
kind
of
food
do
you
eat?”
and
“Don’t
your
feet
get
tired?”
I’m
glad
nobody
asked
me
why
I
did
the
walk.
I’m
not
exactly
sure
myself.
All
I
know
is
that
it
was
the
best
thing
I’ve
done
in
my
life.
.Which
picture
and
caption
shows
the
origin
of
Lake
Superior?
A.The
first.
B.The
second.
C.The
third.
D.The
fourth.
22.What’s
the
geological
feature
of
Lake
Superior
area?
A.Hilly.
B.Sandy.
C.Rocky.
D.Muddy.
23.What
does
the
writer
think
of
the
trip?
A.Tiring.
B.Surprising.
C.Adventurous.
D.Wonderful.
B
One
day
when
I
was
12,
my
mother
gave
me
an
order:
I
was
to
walk
to
the
public
library,
and
borrow
at
least
one
book
for
the
summer.
This
was
one
more
weapon
for
her
to
defeat
my
strange
problem—inability
to
read.
In
the
library,
I
found
my
way
into
the
“Children's
Room”.
I
sat
down
on
the
floor
and
pulled
a
few
books
off
the
shelf
at
random.
The
cover
of
a
book
caught
my
eye.
It
presented
a
picture
of
a
beagle.
I
had
recently
had
a
beagle,
the
first
and
only
animal
companion
I
ever
had
as
a
child.
He
was
my
secret
sharer,
but
one
morning,
he
was
gone,
given
away
to
someone
who
had
the
space
and
the
money
to
care
for
him.
I
never
forgot
my
beagle.
There
on
the
book's
cover
was
a
beagle
which
looked
identical
to
my
dog.
I
ran
my
fingers
over
the
picture
of
the
dog
on
the
cover.
My
eyes
ran
across
the
title,
Amos,
the
Beagle
with
a
Plan.
Unknowingly,
I
had
read
the
title.
Without
opening
the
book,
I
borrowed
it
from
the
library
for
the
summer.
Under
the
shade
of
a
bush,
I
started
to
read
about
Amos.
I
read
very,
very
slowly
with
difficulty.
Though
pages
were
turned
slowly,
I
got
the
main
idea
of
the
story
about
a
dog
who,
like
mine,
had
been
separated
from
his
family
and
who
finally
found
his
way
back
home.
The
dog
was
my
dog,
and
I
was
the
little
boy
in
the
book.
At
the
end
of
the
story,
my
mind
continued
the
final
scene
of
reunion,
on
and
on,
until
my
own
lost
dog
and
I
were,
in
my
mind,
running
together.
My
mother's
call
returned
me
to
the
real
world.
I
suddenly
realized
something:
I
had
read
a
book.
and
I
had
loved
reading
that
book.
Everyone
knew
I
could
not
read.
But
I
had
read
it.
Books
could
be
incredibly
wonderful
and
I
was
going
to
read
them.
I
never
told
my
mother
about
my
“miraculous(奇迹般的)”
experience
that
summer,
but
she
saw
a
slow
but
remarkable
improvement
in
my
classroom
performance
during
the
next
year.
And
years
later,
she
was
proud
that
her
son
had
read
thousands
of
books,
was
awarded
a
PhD
in
literature,
and
authored
his
own
books,
articles,
poetry
and
fiction.
The
power
of
the
words
has
held.
24.The
author's
mother
told
him
to
borrow
a
book
in
order
to
________.
A.encourage
him
to
do
more
walking
B.help
cure
him
of
his
reading
problem
C.let
him
spend
a
meaningful
summer
D.make
him
learn
more
about
weapons
25.The
book
caught
the
author's
eye
because
________.
A.it
contained
pretty
pictures
of
animals
B.he
found
its
title
easy
to
understand
C.he
was
reminded
of
his
own
dog
D.he
liked
children's
stories
very
much
26.What
can
be
concluded

read
the

happy
summers
ever
since.
27.Which
one
could
be
the
best
title
of
the
passage?
A.My
Passion
for
Reading
B.Mum's
Strict

C.Reunion
with
My
Beagle
D.The
Charm
of
a

C
Tea
drinking
was
common
in
China
for
nearly
one
thousand
years
before
anyone
in
Europe
had
ever
heard
about
tea.
People
in
Britain
were
much
slower
in
finding
out
what
tea
was
like,
mainly
because
tea
was
very
expensive.
It
could
not
be
bought
in
shops
and
even
those
people
who
could
afford
to
have
it
sent
from
Holland
did
so
only
because
it
was
a
fashionable
curiosity.
Some
of
them
were
not
sure
how
to
use
it.
They
thought
it
was
a
vegetable
and
tried
cooking
the
leaves.
Then
they
served
them
mixed
with
butter
and
salt.
They
soon
discovered
their
mistake
but
many
people
used
to
spread
the
used
tea
leaves
on
bread
and
give
them
to
their
children
as
sandwiches.
Tea
remained
rare
and
very
expensive
in
England
until
the
ships
of
the
East
India
Company
began
to
bring
it
direct
from
China
early
in
the
seventeenth
century.
During
the
next
few
years
so
much
tea
came
into
the
country
that
the
price
fell
and
many
people
could
afford
to
buy
it.
At
the
same
time
people
on
the
Continent
were
becoming
more
and
more
fond
of
tea.
Until
then
tea
had
been
drunk
without
milk
in
it,
but
one
day
a
famous
French
lady
named
Madame
de
Sevigne
decided
to
see
what
tea
tasted
like
when
milk
was
added.
She
found
it
so
pleasant
that
she
would
never
again
drink
it
without
milk.
Because
she
was
such
a
great
lady
that
her
friends
thought
they
must
copy
everything
she
did,
they
also
drank
their
tea
with
milk
in
it.
Slowly
this
habit
spread
until
it
reached
England
and
today
only
very
few
Britons
drink
tea
without
milk.
At
first,
tea
was
usually
drunk
after
dinner
in
the
evening.
No
one
ever
thought
of
drinking
tea
in
the
afternoon
until
a
duchess
(公爵夫人)
found
that
a
cup
of
tea
and
a
piece
of
cake
at
three
or
four
o’clock
stopped
her
getting
“a
sinking
feeling”
as
she
called
it.
She
invited
her
friends
to
have
this
new
meal
with
her,
and
so
tea-time
was
born.

Holland.

tea.

had
tea.

drink
in

tea.

passage
mainly
discuss?

tea-time
was
born
in
Britain.
B.The
history
of
tea
drinking
in
Britain.
C.How
tea
became
a
popular
drink
in
Britain.
D.How
the

got

habit
of

tea.
D
For
some
people,
there’s
no
better
companion
than
man’s
best
friend
—
a
dog.
This
four-legged
canine
can
bring
comfort
and
joy
and
provide
much-needed
exercise
for
you
when
it
needs
walkies!
This
probably
explains
why
dog
ownership
increased
last
year
because
people
spent
more
time
at
home
during
the
coronavirus
pandemic
lockdown.
It
was
demand
for
puppies
in
particular
that
saw
the
biggest
increase.
Who
couldn’t
resist
their
playful
personalities,
adorable
eyes,
and
super-soft
coats?
However,
as
demand
for
a
new
pooch
increased,
so
did
the
price
tag.
Popular
breeds,
such
as
Cockapoos
and
Cocker
Spaniels,
saw
even
sharper
price
increases,
and
puppies
have
been
selling
for
?3,000
or
more.
Animal
welfare
charities
fear
that
high
prices
could
encourage
puppy
farming,
smuggling
(贩卖)
or
dog
theft.
And
a
BBC
investigation
found
some
breeders
have
been
selling
puppies
(幼犬)
and
kittens
on
social
media
sites
—
something
charities
have
called
“extremely
irresponsible”.
But
despite
some
new
owners
purchasing
a
dog
legally,
maybe
from
a
rescue
centre
or
registered
breeder,
they’ve
proved
to
be
ill-prepared
for
life
with
a
new
pet,
and
the
pet
itself
has
found
it
hard
to
come
to
terms
with
life
in
a
new
home.
Animal
behaviourists
in
the
UK
have
reported
a
surge
in
requests
to
help
dogs
suffering
from
fear-aggression
(害怕攻击)
after
their
lives
have
been
turned
upside
down.
Looking
to
the
future,
there
are
concerns
about
the
welfare
(幸福安康)
of
these
much-loved
pets.
Ian
Atkin,
manager
of
the
Oxfordshire
Animal
Sanctuary
in
the
UK,
told
the
BBC:
“At
the
moment,
the
dogs
are
having
a
great
time,
but
separation
anxiety
could
still
surface
when
people
go
back
to
work.”
And
Claire
Calder
from
the
UK’s
Dogs
Trust
rescue
charity
says
“the
economic
situation
also
means
that
some
people
may
find
they
can’t
afford
to
look
after
a
dog.”
The
message
is
not
to
buy
a
puppy
in
haste
and
to
pick
one
that
fits
into
your
lifestyle.
32.Why
did
dog
ownership
increase
during
the
coronavirus
pandemic?
A.Because
people
were
looking
for
companionship
and
exercise.
B.Because
dogs
were
also
locked
down
together
with
people.
C.Because
dogs
became
more
playful,
lovely
and
likeable.
D.Because
the
price
of
dogs
increased
at
the
same
time.
33.What
does
the
underlined
phrase
“come
to
terms
with”
most
probably
mean?
A.Rescue.
B.Regret.
C.Access.
D.Accept.
34.How
might
going
back
to
work
affect
the
life
of
a
dog?
A.Its
price
would
be
increased
sharply.
B.It
might
be
sold
on
social
media.
C.It
can
be
smuggled
and
stolen.
D.It
could
suffer
from
separation
anxiety.
35.The
author
writes
this
article
mainly
to
talk
about________.
A.some
concerns
about
the
welfare
of
pet
dogs
B.some
bad
behaviors
people
do
to
pet
dog
C.why
people
should
raise
a
pet
dog
at
home
D.why
dogs
are
becoming
more
and
more
expensive

An
Angel
Among
Us
The
Christmas
of
2001,
my
husband
Bob
and
I
had
four
children,
Peter,
Ann
,
Laura
and
little
Matthew.
When
Santa
visited
us,
Matthew
41
on
Santa’s
lap
and
anyone
who
had
their
picture
taken
with
Santa
also
had
their
picture
taken
with
little
Matthew.
We
never
knew
how
42
those
photos
with
Santa.
Five
days
later,
little
Matthew
died
in
an
accident.
I
learned
the
first
year
after
a
death
is
the
43
,
as
there
are
many
firsts
to
44
without
your
loved
one.
When
our
first
Christmas
without
Matthew
45
,
it
was
hard
for
me
to
get
into
the
holiday
46
.
Bob
and
I
could
hardly
face
putting
up
the
decorations
or
47
for
gifts.
On
Christmas
Eve,
something
extraordinary
happened
to
48
our
spirits.
We
were
just
finishing
49
when
we
heard
a
knock
on
the
door.
When
we
50
it,
no
one
was
there.
51
,
on
the
front
porch
was
a
card
and
a
52
.
We
opened
the
card
and
read
that
the
gift-giver
just
wanted
to
help
us
come
through
a
rough
time
by
53
us
up
with
his
or
her
name
54
,
like
a
fairy.
In
the
gift
bag
was
a
cassette
of
Christmas
music,
which
included
our
favorite
songs,
55
“The
Twelve
Days
of
Christmas.”
We
put
the
cassette
in
our
player
and,
song
by
song,
the
spirit
of
Christmas
began
to
56
our
hearts.
Each
year
since
then,
as
we
decorate
our
Christmas
tree
we
play
the
songs.
We
give
57
for
our
fairy
who
was,
we
finally
58
,
our
very
own
Christmas
59
.
We
never
did
find
out
who
it
was,
although
we
have
our
60
.
We
actually
prefer
to
keep
it
that
way.

Don’t
you
wish
summer
vacation
could
go
on
forever?
I
sure
do.
Whenever
I
think
about
going
back
to
school,
I
feel
depressing.
The
thought
of
waking
up
early
and
listening
to
teachers
drone
on
and
on
make
me
want
to
cry!
This
year,
my
school
begins
on
late
August.
During
summer

I
never
run
into
my
classmates.
But
I
can
count
on
doing

the
day
before
school
starts.
The
school
usually
gives
us
a
list
of
supplies
that
we
need
them
for
the
year.
For
me,
a
couple
of
notebooks
and
some
pencils
are
needing.
The
mall
is
another
place
I
am

my
classmates.
Most
students
in
America
don’t
wear
uniforms,
so
a

for
the
first

of
school
was
vital.
Overall,
back-to-school
shopping
doesn’t
have
to
cost
too
many.
From
kindergarten
through
high
school,
students
don’t
need
to
purchase
textbooks
because
schools
provide
it.
Even
though
I’m
not
looking
forward
going
back
to
school,
at
least
I’m
ready.

【原文】
What
qualities
should
a
teacher
have?
I
think
the
following
would
be
accepted
by
most
of
us.
Firstly,
a
teacher
should
be
attractive.
It
doesn't
mean
a
teacher
should
be
good-looking.
He
should
be
able
to
attract
the
students'
attention.
Anyway,
he
shouldn't
be
boring.
Secondly,
a
teacher
must
understand
the
minds
and
feelings
of
other
people.
Thirdly,
a
teacher
should
be
a
bit
of
an
actor,
which
means
that
a
teacher
should
have
the
ability
to
make
his
lessons
interesting.
Fourthly,
a
teacher
must
be
very
patient.
Teaching
requires
great
efforts
and
a
teacher
should
be
able
to
deal
with
different
kinds
of
children.
Finally,
a
teacher
should
know
that
learning
is
a
lifelong
process.
Teaching
is
a
job
that
a
teacher
will
never
be
perfect
in.
There
is
always
something
to
learn.
There
are
three
main
aspects
of
study:
the
subjects,
the
methods
and
the
students.
Education
needs
full
and
active
cooperation
between
the
teacher
and
the
student.

A
I
have
a
pretty
good
idea
of
how
big
Lake
Superior
is
because
I
walked
all
the
way
around
it.
I
walked
about
ten
miles
a
day,
and
it
took
me
five
and
a
half
months.
Lake
Superior
was
created
by
a
glacier
a
mile
thick,
which
pushed
south
from
Canada.
It
dug
a
huge
basin
that
filled
with
water
when
the
glacier
melted
about
ten
thousand
years
ago.
All
the
soil
was
blown
off,
leaving
behind
only
hard
rocks.
The
Cascade
River

running
into
the

of
my
favorite

the
people
I
met
on
my
trip.
I
got
gifts
of
food
and
invitations
to
share
meals
and
stay
in
people’s
homes.
Somehow
the
trip
was
important
to
these
people,
too.
People
asked
me
questions
like
“What
kind
of
food
do
you
eat?”
and
“Don’t
your
feet
get
tired?”
I’m
glad
nobody
asked
me
why
I
did
the

I’m
not
exactly
sure
myself.
All
I
know
is
that
it
was
the
best
thing
I’ve
done
in
my
life.

23.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“I
was
surprised
to
be
treated
in
such
a
special
way
by
the
people
I
met
on
my

B
One
day
when
I
was
12,
my
mother
gave
me
an
order:
I
was
to
walk
to
the
public
library,
and
borrow
at
least
one
book
for
the
summer.
This
was
one
more
weapon
for
her
to
defeat
my
strange
problem—inability
to
read.
In
the
library,
I
found
my
way
into
the
“Children's
Room”.
I
sat
down
on
the
floor
and
pulled
a
few
books
off
the
shelf
at
random.
The
cover
of
a
book
caught
my
eye.
It
presented
a
picture
of
a
beagle.
I
had
recently
had
a
beagle,
the
first
and
only
animal
companion
I
ever
had
as
a
child.
He
was
my
secret
sharer,
but
one
morning,
he
was
gone,
given
away
to
someone
who
had
the
space
and
the
money
to
care
for
him.
I
never
forgot
my
beagle.
There
on
the
book's
cover
was
a
beagle
which
looked
identical
to
my
dog.
I
ran
my
fingers
over
the
picture
of
the
dog
on
the
cover.
My
eyes
ran
across
the
title,
Amos,
the
Beagle
with
a
Plan.
Unknowingly,
I
had
read
the
title.
Without
opening
the
book,
I
borrowed
it
from
the
library
for
the
summer.
Under
the
shade
of
a
bush,
I
started
to
read
about
Amos.
I
read
very,
very
slowly
with
difficulty.
Though
pages
were
turned
slowly,
I
got
the
main
idea
of
the
story
about
a
dog
who,
like
mine,
had
been
separated
from
his
family
and
who
finally
found
his
way
back
home.
The
dog
was
my
dog,
and
I
was
the
little
boy
in
the
book.
At
the
end
of
the
story,
my
mind
continued
the
final
scene
of
reunion,
on
and
on,
until
my
own
lost
dog
and
I
were,
in
my
mind,
running
together.
My
mother's
call
returned
me
to
the
real
world.
I
suddenly
realized
something:
I
had
read
a
book.
and
I
had
loved
reading
that
book.
Everyone
knew
I
could
not
read.
But
I
had
read
it.
Books
could
be
incredibly
wonderful
and
I
was
going
to
read
them.
I
never
told
my
mother
about
my
“miraculous(奇迹般的)”
experience
that
summer,
but
she
saw
a
slow
but
remarkable
improvement
in
my
classroom
performance
during
the
next
year.
And
years
later,
she
was
proud
that
her
son
had
read
thousands
of
books,
was
awarded
a
PhD
in
literature,
and
authored
his
own
books,
articles,
poetry
and
fiction.
The
power
of
the
words
has
held.
24.The
author's
mother
told
him
to
borrow
a
book
in
order
to
________.
A.encourage
him
to
do
more
walking
B.help
cure
him
of
his
reading
problem
C.let
him
spend
a
meaningful
summer
D.make
him
learn
more
about
weapons
25.The
book
caught
the
author's
eye
because
________.
A.it
contained
pretty
pictures
of
animals
B.he
found
its
title
easy
to
understand
C.he
was
reminded
of
his
own
dog
D.he
liked
children's
stories
very
much
26.What
can
be
concluded
from
the
last
paragraph?
A.The
author's
mother
rewarded
him
with
books.
B.The
author's
mother
read
the
same
book.
C.The
author
has
become
a
successful
writer.
D.The
author
has
had
happy
summers
ever
since.
27.Which
one
could
be
the
best
title
of
the
passage?
A.My
Passion
for
Reading
B.Mum's
Strict
Order
C.Reunion
with
My
Beagle
D.The
Charm
of
a
Book
【答案】24.B
25.C
26.C
27.D
这是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了作者从一个有阅读困难的孩子一次暑假从图书馆借了一本书开始阅读之旅,并成为一名成功的作家的故事,告诉了我们书本的魅力。
24.细节理解题。根据第一段最后一句“This
was
one
more
weapon
for
her
to
defeat
my
strange
problem—inability
to
read.”可知,母亲让他借书看是为了克服他奇怪的问题:不能阅读。故选B。
25.细节理解题。根据第二段中三四五句“The
cover
of
a
book
caught
my
eye.
It
presented
a
picture
of
a
beagle.
I
had
recently
had
a
beagle,
the
first
and
only
animal
companion
I
ever
had
as
a
child.”可知,这本书之所以吸引他是因为封面上有一只猎兔犬。而他自己之前也有一只,并且是他孩提时以来第一个也是唯一一个动物玩伴。可知书的封面让他想起自己的狗,因此被吸引。故选C。
26.推理判断题。根据最后一段第二句“And
years
later,
she
was
proud
that
her
son
had
read
thousands
of
books,
was
awarded
a
PhD
in
literature,
and
authored
his
own
books,
articles,
poetry
and
fiction.”可知作者的母亲因为儿子读了许多书,还获得文学博士学位,并且自己写了书、文章、诗歌和小说而骄傲。由此推断出作者成为了一名成功的作家,故选C。
27.主旨大意题。根据倒数第二段第二句“I
suddenly
realized
something:
I
had
read
a
book.
and
I
had
loved
reading
that
book.
Everyone
knew
I
could
not
read.
But
I
had
read
it.
Books
could
be
incredibly
wonderful
and
I
was
going
to
read
them.
”可知作者通过阅读这一本书懂得了一些道理。在被人看来有阅读障碍的他竟然读了一本书、并且爱读这本书。他顿时醒悟,原来书本无限美好,他决定读更多的书。也就是说作者从一个有阅读困难的孩子成为一名成功的作家的故事,原因在于读一本书的经历改变了他的想法。故“一本书的魅力”可以作为本文的最佳标题。故选D。
C
Tea
drinking
was
common
in
China
for
nearly
one
thousand
years
before
anyone
in
Europe
had
ever
heard
about
tea.
People
in
Britain
were
much
slower
in
finding
out
what
tea
was
like,
mainly
because
tea
was
very
expensive.
It
could
not
be
bought
in
shops
and
even
those
people
who
could
afford
to
have
it
sent
from
Holland
did
so
only
because
it
was
a
fashionable
curiosity.
Some
of
them
were
not
sure
how
to
use
it.
They
thought
it
was
a
vegetable
and
tried
cooking
the
leaves.
Then
they
served
them
mixed
with
butter
and
salt.
They
soon
discovered
their
mistake
but
many
people
used
to
spread
the
used
tea
leaves
on
bread
and
give
them
to
their
children
as
sandwiches.
Tea
remained
rare
and
very
expensive
in
England
until
the
ships
of
the
East
India
Company
began
to
bring
it
direct
from
China
early
in
the
seventeenth
century.
During
the
next
few
years
so
much
tea
came
into
the
country
that
the
price
fell
and
many
people
could
afford
to
buy
it.
At
the
same
time
people
on
the
Continent
were
becoming
more
and
more
fond
of
tea.
Until
then
tea
had
been
drunk
without
milk
in
it,
but
one
day
a
famous
French
lady
named
Madame
de
Sevigne
decided
to
see
what
tea
tasted
like
when
milk
was
added.
She
found
it
so
pleasant
that
she
would
never
again
drink
it
without
milk.
Because
she
was
such
a
great
lady
that
her
friends
thought
they
must
copy
everything
she
did,
they
also
drank
their
tea
with
milk
in
it.
Slowly
this
habit
spread
until
it
reached
England
and
today
only
very
few
Britons
drink
tea
without
milk.
At
first,
tea
was
usually
drunk
after
dinner
in
the
evening.
No
one
ever
thought
of
drinking
tea
in
the
afternoon
until
a
duchess
(公爵夫人)
found
that
a
cup
of
tea
and
a
piece
of
cake
at
three
or
four
o’clock
stopped
her
getting
“a
sinking
feeling”
as
she
called
it.
She
invited
her
friends
to
have
this
new
meal
with
her,
and
so
tea-time
was
born.
28.Which

had
tea.

a
popular
drink.
D.They
tried
to
copy
the
way
Madame
de
Sevigne
drank
tea.
31.What
does
this
passage
mainly
discuss?
A.How

D
For
some
people,
there’s
no
better
companion
than
man’s
best
friend
—
a
dog.
This
four-legged
canine
can
bring
comfort
and
joy
and
provide
much-needed
exercise
for
you
when
it
needs
walkies!
This
probably
explains
why
dog
ownership
increased
last
year
because
people
spent
more
time
at
home
during
the
coronavirus
pandemic
lockdown.
It
was
demand
for
puppies
in
particular
that
saw
the
biggest
increase.
Who
couldn’t
resist
their
playful
personalities,
adorable
eyes,
and
super-soft
coats?
However,
as
demand
for
a
new
pooch
increased,
so
did
the
price
tag.
Popular
breeds,
such
as
Cockapoos
and
Cocker
Spaniels,
saw
even
sharper
price
increases,
and
puppies
have
been
selling
for
?3,000
or
more.
Animal
welfare
charities
fear
that
high
prices
could
encourage
puppy
farming,
smuggling
(贩卖)
or
dog
theft.
And
a
BBC
investigation
found
some
breeders
have
been
selling
puppies
(幼犬)
and
kittens
on
social
media
sites
—
something
charities
have
called
“extremely
irresponsible”.
But
despite
some
new
owners
purchasing
a
dog
legally,
maybe
from
a
rescue
centre
or
registered
breeder,
they’ve
proved
to
be
ill-prepared
for
life
with
a
new
pet,
and
the
pet
itself
has
found
it
hard
to
come
to
terms
with
life
in
a
new
home.
Animal
behaviourists
in
the
UK
have
reported
a
surge
in
requests
to
help
dogs
suffering
from
fear-aggression
(害怕攻击)
after
their
lives
have
been
turned
upside
down.
Looking
to
the
future,
there
are
concerns
about
the
welfare
(幸福安康)
of
these
much-loved
pets.
Ian
Atkin,
manager
of
the
Oxfordshire
Animal
Sanctuary
in
the
UK,
told
the
BBC:
“At
the
moment,
the
dogs
are
having
a
great
time,
but
separation
anxiety
could
still
surface
when
people
go
back
to
work.”
And
Claire
Calder
from
the
UK’s
Dogs
Trust
rescue
charity
says
“the
economic
situation
also
means
that
some
people
may
find
they
can’t
afford
to
look
after
a
dog.”
The
message
is
not
to
buy
a
puppy
in
haste
and
to
pick
one
that
fits
into
your
lifestyle.
32.Why
did
dog
ownership
increase
during
the
coronavirus
pandemic?
A.Because
people
were
looking
for
companionship
and
exercise.
B.Because
dogs
were
also
locked
down
together
with
people.
C.Because
dogs
became
more
playful,
lovely
and

【答案】32.A
33.D
34.D
35.A
本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述在冠状病毒大流行封锁期间,人们待在家里的时间更多,所以对宠物狗的需求越来越多,价格也随之上涨,所以担心这会鼓励幼犬养殖、走私和偷盗。并且有些人不负责任的随便买卖宠物使得宠物狗很难适应新家,
因此人们对备受喜爱的宠物的福利感到担忧。
32.推理判断题。根据第一段“For
some
people,
there’s
no
better
companion
than
man’s
best
friend
—
a
dog.
This
four-legged
canine
can
bring
comfort
and
joy
and
provide
much-needed
exercise
for
you
when
it
needs
walkies!
This
probably
explains
why
dog
ownership
increased
last
year
because
people
spent
more
time
at
home
during
the
coronavirus
pandemic
lockdown”可推知,在冠状病毒大流行期间狗的数量增加是因为人们待在家里的时间多,需要陪伴和锻炼。故选A。
33.词句猜测题。根据前半句“But
despite
some
new
owners
purchasing
a
dog
legally,
maybe
from
a
rescue
centre
or
registered
breeder,
they’ve
proved
to
be
ill-prepared
for
life
with
a
new
pet,”可推知,下半句意思是宠物自己也无法适应或接受新家的生活。由此猜测,划线部分“come
to
terms
with”意为接受,A.
Rescue拯救;B.
Regret后悔;C.
Access接近;D.
Accept接受。故选D。
34.细节理解题。根据最后一段“Ian
Atkin,
manager
of
the
Oxfordshire
Animal
Sanctuary
in
the
UK,
told
the
BBC:
“At
the
moment,
the
dogs
are
having
a
great
time,
but
separation
anxiety
could
still
surface
when
people
go
back
to
work.””可知,当人们回去工作时,宠物狗们会遭受分离焦虑。故选D。
35.主旨大意题。根据最后一段“Looking
to
the
future,
there
are
concerns
about
the
welfare
(幸福安康)
of
these
much-loved
pets.”以及上文的描述对宠物狗的需求越来越多,价格也随之上涨,所以担心这会鼓励幼犬养殖、走私和偷盗。并且有些人不负责任的随便买卖宠物使得宠物狗很难适应新家,人们返回工作,宠物狗会遭受分离焦虑,这些都是在说人们对宠物狗的福利感到担忧。故选A。

【答案】36.E
37.B
38.G
39.F
40.C
这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了一些简单但有益的学习语言的方法。
36.根据上文“◆
Practice
speaking
it
as
often
as
possible.(尽可能多地练习说英语)”可知,本段主旨是多练习说英语,E选项中practice
speaking对应上文中Practice
speaking。故E选项“一位伟人曾说,尽可能多地练习说英语是很必要的”符合语境,故选E。
37.根据后文“You
must
hear
English,
read
English,
touch
English,
smell
English,
and
taste
English.
Feel
English
with
your
heart.
Dip
yourself
in
this
language.
Begin
to
think
in
English.(你必须听英语,读英语,触摸英语,闻英语,品尝英语。用心去感受英语。让自己沉浸在这门语言中。学会用英语思考)”可知,后文提到了听、读、触摸、闻和品尝英语,即用身体感官去学习英语。故B选项“运用一切感官学习英语”符合语境,故选B。
38.根据上文“◆
Rome
wasn’t
built
in
a
day.(罗马不是一天建成的)”以及后文“Your
hard
working
will
be
rewarded
by
God
one
day.
God
is
equal
to
everyone!(你所付出的一切将会得到上帝的报答,上帝是公平的。上帝对每个人都是平等的!)”可知,后文提到努力工作会得到回报,可知本句是在说明为学习英语付出努力。故G选项“努力学习,多练习”符合语境,故选G。
39.根据上文“◆
Keep
an
English
diary.
Try
to
write
a
few
sentences
about
your
day
and
then
speak
them
out
as
many
times
as
possible
before
you
go
to
sleep.
This
habit
will
help
you
to
“think”
in
English.(坚持写英语日记。写几个句子描述一下你的一天,然后在睡觉前尽可能多地大声说出来。这个习惯会帮助你用英语“思考”)”以及后文“Besides,
you
will
score
higher
on
your
composition
exams!(此外,考试时作文你也可以拿更高的分!)”可知,本句与后文并列,都是在说明坚持写英语日记的好处。故F选项“它还能帮助你生活得有条理、有成效”符合语境,故选F。
40.根据上文“◆Don’t
be
afraid
to
ask
for
help.
The
more
times
you
ask
for
help,
the
more
powerful
your
English
will
become.
Never
be
afraid
to
ask!(不要害怕寻求帮助。你请求别人帮越多的忙,你的英语就会越厉害。永远不要害怕提问!)”可知,上文提到不要害怕请求别人帮忙,不要害怕提问,可知本句承接上文说明这一做法的作用:从不同的人身上学到更多的东西,故C选项“尽可能从不同的人身上学到更多的东西!”符合语境,故选C。

【答案】作文范文:
Nowadays
many
schools
forbid
students
to
bring
their
cellphones
to
school,
which
arouses
a
lot
of
discussions
among
students.
Their
opinions
vary
from
person
to
person.
Many
students
think
that
it
is
very
convenient
for
them
to
get
in
touch
with
parents
and
talk
with
friends.
They
can
also
get
some
useful
information
with
cellphones
online.
However,
others
argue
that
some
students
often
play
cellphones
for
too
long,
which
is
bad
for
their
eyes.
In
addition,
playing
cellphones
takes
up
too
much
time,
having
a
bad
effect
on
their
studies.
As
far
as
I’m
concerned,
students
shouldn’t
bring
their
cellphones
to
school.
We
should
use
cellphones
wisely,
and
our
parents
and
teachers
should
monitor
us
as
well.
