1、dress在文中是动词，意为“给…..穿衣服”。其句型有：
1> dress sb. / oneself. 如：She dresses the baby. 她给孩子穿衣服。注意：dress后不能接“衣服”之类的词作宾语。
2> be dressed in +衣服或表示颜色的词 如：She is dressed in white today.今天她穿着白衣服。
3> dress的相关短语有：dress up 化妆 dress sb. up为某人化妆 get dressed 穿衣服
4> 表示“穿”的动词还有wear , put on, have on等
2、depend on 依靠，依赖，取决于
如：These animals depend on the grass. 这些动物以草为生。
3、nearly 几乎，接近， 常可与almost换用，但在具体数字前常用nearly. not修饰nearly意为“远非，远不及”，almost不能用not修饰.
如：The building is nearly twenty meters high.这座大楼几乎20米高。
Almost强调“差一点…..就”（= very nearly）,可用于no, none, nothing等前面，但nearly不可。
如：Almost no one (= Hardly anyone)believes her.几乎没有人相信他。
4、as well as除…..之外（也）。
如：On Sunday, children play basketball as well as football.每逢星期天，孩子们除了打篮球还踢足球。
注意：as well as连接两个主语时，谓语动词的数与前面主语的数保持一致。
如：The teacher as well as his students was invited to the party.不但他的学生而且这位老师也应邀参加了晚会。
此外，as well as还有“与……同样好”的意思。
如：He speaks English as well as you do.他说英语说得和你一样好。
5、catch one’s eye引起某人的注意
如：When he was walking on the street, a beautiful car caught his eye.
