In
the
second
trimester
(Weeks
13-24),
students
continue
improving
their
thetorical
analysis
skills
by
examining
several
challenging
texts.
In
the
final
trimester
(Weeks
25-36),
students
will
use
what
they've
been
developing
to
write
their
own
essays.
What
is
encouraged
in
class?
·Close-reading
and
discussion
of
very
challenging
literary
texts
·Targeted
study
of
professional,
published
writing
and
in-class
practice
of

Homework
Throughout
the
year,
students
draft
and
revise
several
long-term
writing
projects.
Students
will
work
on
these
projects
mostly
in
class,
but
they'll
also
be
expected
to
complete
some
writing
at
home.
At
the
end
of
the
year,
students
will
choose
one
of
these
projects
to
revise
and
polish.
Besides,
students
will
also
complete
short
reading
tasks
at
home
that
will
be
discussed
in
class.
Teachers'
feedback
Since
students
will
complete
most
of
their
writing
in
class,
there'll
be
many
chances
for
the
teacher
to
provide
face-to-face
feedback
immediately
while
students
are
working.
At
the
end
of-each
multi-week
project,
students
will
hand
in
their
final
drafts
and

feedback
from
their
teacher.
Exams
Students
have
to
take
an
in-class
exam
at
the
end
of
each
trimester.
Exams
will
focus
on
the
analysis
and
writing
skills
students
are
learning
in
class.

As
I
walked
into
the
primary
school,
I
looked
down
at
my
new
black
Mary
Jane
shoes
---I
wanted
to
be
anywhere
in
the
world
but
Fountain
Inn
Elementary
School.
I
stood
at
Mrs
Blackstone's
door.
Before
I
tried
the
great
escape,
the
wooden
door
suddenly
opened
to
the
singsong
voice
of
Mrs
Blackstone,
my
new
fifth
grade
teacher.
“We've
been
waiting
on
you!"
she
said
in
an
unusually
high
voice.
With
a
smile
my
mom
walked
away
and
I
was
left
standing
in
the
center
stage
in
front
of
a
group
of
students.
Over
the
next
few
days,
Mrs
Blackstone
made
it
her
job
to
find
me
a
new
best
friend
and
help
me
join
a
choir
(合唱队)
.
During
history
lessons,
as
I
didn't
want
to
speak
in
front
of
the
class
she
would
not
only
call
on
me
but
have
me
stand
up
to
address
my
classmates.
She
laughed
at
my
nervousness
when
I
wouldn't
get
in
line
to
sharpen
my
pencil
for
fear
of
being
embarrassed.
Her
silliness
made
me
smile
and
finally
feel
much
more
relaxed
in
the
new
environment.
One
spring
afternoon,
Mrs
Blackstone
asked
me
to
stay
after
class.
"I'd
like
to
speak
with
you,
Amanda."
My
mind
raced.
Had
I
made
a
bad
grade?
Had
I
hurt
someone's
feelings?
"Are
you
enjoying
your
new
school?"
She
sat
comfortably
behind
her
desk.
“I
want
to
tell
you
something,
between
you
and
me,
not
to
be
shared
with
anyone
else."
“Okay.”
My
throat
all
of
a
sudden
felt
very
dry.
With
her
eyebrows
raised
she
said,
"I
see
something
special
in
you.
The
way
you
communicate
with
others,
the
kindness
you
show-
I
think
you
have
great
potential
(潜能)to
be
something
very
important."
I
listened
attentively
to
every
word.
"I've
been
a
teacher
for
over
twenty-five
years;
I
can
see
it.
But
you
must
believe
in
yourself.
That's
very
important.
Remember
that
and
you'll
go
far."
She
then
hugged
me
and
said,‘‘See
you
tomorrow."
Her
singsong
voice
was
music
to
my
ears
that
day.
I
walked
out
of
her
class,
not
staring
at
my
Mary
Jane
shoes,
but
looking
straight
ahead
with
my
head
high.
My
teacher
saw
something
special
in
me!

When
you
walk
into
your
place
of
work
in
the
morning,
are
you
walking
in
as
yourself
or
as
a
stranger?
While
the
workplace
is
a
place
to
wear
your
professional
face,
it's
also
a
place
where
you
should
feel
comfortable
and
connected
to
your
coworkers.
There's
a
good
reason
for
this:
A
new
study
finds
that
hiding
your
true
self
at
work
is
not
good
for
your
career
and
your
sense
of
belonging
in
the
workplace.
"When
someone
hides
their
true
identity,
their
social
connections
suffer
and
this
has
an
impact
not
just
on
the
individual,
but
also
on
the
organization
they
work
for,"
says
co-author
Professor
Manuela
Barreto."Our
findings
suggest
openness
about
one's
identity
is
often
beneficial
for
individuals,
the
group
and
their
workplace."
When
employers
fail
to
create
this
sense
of
belonging
among
their
employees,
it's
difficult
for
the
individuals
to
find
their
purposes
in
work.
This
then
impacts
their
ability
to
be
productive.
More
specifically,
the
researchers
found
that
hiding
these
characteristics
from
coworkers
reduces
their
self-respect,
job
fulfillment
and
job
commitment.
For
the
study,
researchers
at
University
of
Exeter
focused
on
commonly
stigmatized(感到羞耻的)
characteristics,
like
having
a
history
of
poverty
or
mental
or
physical
illnesses.
They
sought
to
see
how
hiding
such
conditions
could
affect
one's
ability
to
grow.
The
findings
were
based
on
multiple
studies
they
analyzed
from
the
Netherlands
and
the
USA.In
one.of
the
experiments,
they
had
95
men
and
women
describe
a
time
when
they
either
hid
or
revealed(展现)
a
stigmatized
characteristic
about
themselves,
In
another
one,
the
researchers
offered
imaginary
scenarios(情景)
to
303
participants
that
again
either
hid
or
revealed
themselves.
In
both
experiments,
participants
were
then
asked
how
they'd
feel
after
hiding
or
sharing
the
stigmatized
characteristic.
The
answers
of
those
who
hid
themselves
resulted
in
the
conclusion
stated
above:
lower
sense
of
belonging
and
job
fulfillment
and
commitment.
So
we
need
environments
where
people
don't
need
to
hide.
Encouraging
complete
openness
can
turn
the
office
into
a
more
comfortable
place
that
allows
employees
to
enjoy
working.
8.
Why
is
Professor
Manuela
Barreto
mentioned?
A.
To
clarify
the
process
of
the
study.
B.
To
explain
the
findings
of
the
study.
C.
To
state
the
purposes
of
the
study.
D.
To
show
the
influence
of
the
study.
9.
What
do
the
researchers
find
about
employees
who
hide
their
characteristics?
A.
They
always
look
down
upon
others.
B.
They
are
often
content
with
their
work.
C.
They
are
likely
to
get
tired
of
their
work.
D.
They
can
ruin
their
coworkers
'
confidence.
10.
What
were
participants
in
both
experiments
required
to
do?
A.
To
tell
their
stigmatized
memories.
B.
To
participate
in
real
scenarios.
C.
To
describe
others'
characteristics.
D.
To
report
their
true
feelings.
11.
What
is
the
main
idea
of
the
text?
A.
Openness
is
beneficial
to
your
job
promotion.
B.
Stigmatized
characteristics
need
hiding
properly.
C.
Hiding
who
you
are
is
harmful
in
the
workplace.
D.
The
sense
of
belonging
benefits
employees
a
lot.
D
If
you’re
in
a
job
performing
dull
tasks,
you
might
think
that
a
robot
could
do
the
work
instead.
But
perhaps
we
underestimate(低估)how
much
technology
already
helps
with
the
activities
that
we
would
otherwise
have
to
do.
And
as
artificial
intelligence
progresses,
we
might
find
it
replaces
us
in
the
workplace
altogether.
For
now,
robotic
technology
is
providing
a
helping
hand
for
businesses,
particularly
in
manufacturing(制造业),
assisting
humans
in
performing
work
more
efficiently
and
sometimes
more
accurately.
For
online
shopping,
for
example,
robots
have
become
vital
in
giant
warehouses.
They
sort
and
move
millions
of
objects
of
all
different
shapes
and
sizes,
although
humans
are
still
needed
to
pick
and
distribute
the
goods.
The
advancement
of
robotics
in
the
workplace
is
good
for
some
businesses;
the
ones
who
research,
develop,
build
and
use
them.
The
British
government
estimates
that
by
2035,
artificial
intelligence
could
add
around
?
630bn
to
the
UK
economy.
But
there
are
still
tasks
that
robots
can’t
yet
do,
and
that’s
the
challenge
for
companies
such
as
Automata.
Its
co-founder,
Suryansh
Chandra,
told
the
BBC
that
his
technology
will
do
its
best
to
eliminate
boring,
repetitive
jobs
that
humans
don’t
like
and
aren’t
very
good
at,
and
also
create
new
ones
that
are
likely
to
replace
them.
It
seems
certain
that
robots
will
eventually
be
able
to
do
more
and
more
of
the
jobs
that
are
currently
performed
by
humans,
so
should
we
be
worried
by
the
rise
of
the
machines?
Some
experts
fear
hundreds
of
thousands
of
jobs
could
disappear
as
robots
replace
human
workers.
A
recent
report
suggests
that
14
percent
of
jobs
are
“at
high
risk
of
automation”
and
32
percent
of
jobs
could
be
“basically
transformed”,
with
the
manufacturing
sector
at
the
highest
risk.
But
as
complete
automation
is
some
way
off,
for
now
we’ll
have
to
work
side-by-side
with
our
robot
colleagues
—
and
manage
to
go
hand
in
hand
with
them
before
they
learn
to
kick
us
out
of
the
door!

Before

the

opened
to
the

voice
of
Mrs
Blackstone,
my

“We've

she
said
in
an
unusually
high
voice.
With
a

my

walked
away
and
I
was

in
the

in

of

Over
the

Mrs

made
it
her

During

as
I

in

of
the

she
would
not

call
on
me
but
have
me

She
laughed
at
my

when
I

Her

One
spring
afternoon,
Mrs
Blackstone
asked
me
to
stay
after

"I'd

Amanda."
My
mind
raced.
Had
I

"Are

She
sat
comfortably
behind

“I

with
anyone
else."
“Okay.”
My
throat
all
of
a
sudden
felt
very
dry.
With
her
eyebrows
raised
she
said,
"I
see
something
special
in
you.
The

the

you
show-
I
think
you
have

I
listened
attentively
to
every
word.
"I've

I
can

it.
But
you

That's

Remember
that

She
then
hugged
me
and
said,‘‘See
you
tomorrow."
Her
singsong
voice
was
music
to
my
ears
that
day.
I
walked
out
of
her

not
staring
at
my

with

high.
My

【4题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段“As
I
walked
into
the
primary
school,
I
looked
down
at
my
new
black
Mary
Jane
shoes
---I
wanted
to

suddenly
opened
to
the
singsong
voice
of
Mrs
Blackstone,
my
new

在我试着逃跑之前,木门突然打开了,Blackstone夫人,我的新五年级老师的唱歌般的声音传来。)”可推知,作者来到了新学校,不愿去上学。故选A。
【5题详解】
推理判断题。根据第七段“My
mind
raced.
Had
I
made
a
bad
grade?
Had
I
hurt
someone's
feelings?(
我的心在急速跳动,我成绩不好吗?我伤害了某人的情感吗?)”可知,老师要和作者谈话,作者开始胡思乱想,这说明作者当时很紧张,故选D。
【6题详解】
推理判断题。根据倒数第五段老师说的“I
see
something
special
in
you.
The
way
you
communicate
with
others,
the
kindness
you
show-
I
think
you
have
great
potential
(潜能)to
be
something
very
important.(
我看到你身上有一些特别的东西。
你和别人交流的方式,你表现出的善良——我认为你有很大的潜力能成为非常重要的人物)”以及倒数第三段“I've
been
a
teacher
for
over
twenty-five
years;
I
can
see
it.
But
you
must
believe
in
yourself.
That's
very
important.
Remember
that
and
you'll
go
far.(
我当老师已经二十五年了,我能看出来。但你必须相信自己。这很重要。记住这一点,你就会走得很远。)”可推断,老师说作者有特殊的潜力,鼓励作者相信自己。这就是老师找作者谈话的目的,故选B。
【7题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,特别是文章中不断提到的“singsong
voice”以及最后一段中的“Her
singsong
voice
was
music
to
my
ears
that
day.
I
walked
out
of
her

not
staring
at
my

My
teacher
saw
something
special
in
me!
(那天她的歌声般的声音在我耳边就是音乐。我走出她的班级,不是盯着我的玛丽简鞋,而是昂头直视着前方。我的老师在我身上看到了一些特别的东西!)
”可推断,作者刚转学对新环境不熟,胆怯不自信。在老师Mrs.Blackstone的帮助下克服了心理障碍,适应了新环境,并充满了自信。老师歌声般的话给了作者自信,使作者终生难忘。因此C项“神奇的话语”可作为本篇的最佳标题。故选C。
C
When
you
walk
into
your
place
of
work
in
the
morning,
are
you
walking
in
as
yourself
or
as
a
stranger?
While
the
workplace
is
a
place
to
wear
your
professional
face,
it's
also
a
place
where
you
should
feel
comfortable
and
connected
to
your
coworkers.
There's
a
good
reason
for
this:
A
new
study
finds
that
hiding
your
true
self
at
work
is
not
good
for
your
career
and
your
sense
of
belonging
in
the
workplace.
"When
someone
hides
their
true
identity,
their
social
connections
suffer
and
this
has
an
impact
not
just
on
the
individual,
but
also
on
the
organization
they
work
for,"
says
co-author
Professor
Manuela
Barreto."Our
findings
suggest
openness
about
one's
identity
is
often
beneficial
for
individuals,
the
group
and
their
workplace."
When
employers
fail
to
create
this
sense
of
belonging
among
their
employees,
it's
difficult
for
the
individuals
to
find
their
purposes
in
work.
This
then
impacts
their
ability
to
be
productive.
More
specifically,
the
researchers
found
that
hiding
these
characteristics
from
coworkers
reduces
their
self-respect,
job
fulfillment
and
job
commitment.
For
the
study,
researchers
at
University
of
Exeter
focused
on
commonly
stigmatized(感到羞耻的)
characteristics,
like
having
a
history
of
poverty
or
mental
or
physical
illnesses.
They
sought
to
see
how
hiding
such
conditions
could
affect
one's
ability
to
grow.
The
findings
were
based
on
multiple
studies
they
analyzed
from
the
Netherlands
and
the
USA.In
one.of
the
experiments,
they
had
95
men
and
women
describe
a
time
when
they
either
hid
or
revealed(展现)
a
stigmatized
characteristic
about
themselves,
In
another
one,
the
researchers
offered
imaginary
scenarios(情景)
to
303
participants
that
again
either
hid
or
revealed
themselves.
In
both
experiments,
participants
were
then
asked
how
they'd
feel
after
hiding
or
sharing
the
stigmatized
characteristic.
The
answers
of
those
who
hid
themselves
resulted
in
the
conclusion
stated
above:
lower
sense
of
belonging
and
job
fulfillment
and
commitment.
So
we
need
environments
where
people
don't
need
to
hide.
Encouraging
complete
openness
can
turn
the
office
into
a
more
comfortable
place
that
allows
employees
to
enjoy
working.

are
often
content

text?
A.
Openness
is
beneficial
to

properly.
C.
Hiding

考查宾语从句引导词。句意:这项惊人的工程成就建于2200多年前的中国西南部的四川省,至今仍被用于灌溉6000多平方公里的农田,并为该省50个城市供水。介词in后接宾语从句,从句缺乏主语,用what,表示“……的地方”。故填what。
【42题详解】
考查过去分词。句意:在古代,都江堰现在所在的地区经常遭受岷江泛滥造成的洪水。本句已有谓语suffered且无连词,其它动词用非谓语形式,名词短语regular
floods和动词cause是逻辑上的动宾关系,用过去分词表被动,作regular
floods的后置定语。故填caused。
【43题详解】

45题详解】

【46题详解】
考查固定搭配。句意:更好的是,多余的水可以被引导到干旱的成都平原,使之适合耕种。固定搭配better
still(更好的是、更妙的是),首字母大写。故填Better。
【47题详解】
考查时态。句意:系统建成后,不再发生洪涝灾害,人民得以安居乐业很高兴。此处缺乏谓语,都江堰是在过去建成的,事情已发生,时态用一般过去时。故填occurred。
【48题详解】
考查副词。句意:系统建成后,不再发生洪涝灾害,人民得以安居乐业很高兴。此处用副词happily(快乐地)作状语修饰动词live。故填happily。
【49题详解】
考查时态和语态。句意:不像现代水坝那样,水被巨大的墙堵住,都江堰仍然让水自然流过岷江,使生态系统和鱼类种群和谐共存。先行词modern
dams后用where引导定语从句,从句缺乏谓语,由modern
dams(现代水坝),讲现在的东西,时态用一般现在时,从句主语the
water和从句谓语block是被动关系,用一般现在时的被动语态,从句主语the
water是不可数名词,谓语用单数形式。故填is
blocked。
【50题详解】

【解析】
【分析】
这是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了,作者在父母的帮助指导下,练习说英语,现在能用英语清楚地交流。
【详解】1.
考查现在分词。句意:当我四岁在一所私立学校上学的时候,我几乎不会说英语,这听起来很有趣。由时间状语从句When
I
was
four可知,此处指“(过去)正在上学”,用过去进行时(was
doing),用现在分词attending。故将attended改为attending。
2.
考查非限制性定语从句。句意:当我四岁在一所私立学校上学的时候,我几乎不会说英语,这听起来很有趣。此处是非限制性定语从句,先行词是前面的句子When
I
was
four
and
was
attended
one
of
the
private
schools,
I
could
hardly
speak
English指的这件事,在从句中作主语,用关系代词which。故将that改为which。
3.
考查代词。句意:多亏了我去南非的旅行,我现在可以说英语,就好像它是我的母语一样。此处用形容词性物主代词my指代前文的I。故将our改为my。
4.
考查虚拟语气。句意:我父母一直坚持要我学说英语。insist表“坚持建议”时,后接宾语从句,用虚拟语气,从句谓语用“(should)+动词原形”,此处用(should)learn。故将learned改为learn。
5.
考查名词的数。句意:它是世界上使用最广泛的语言之一。根据“one
of
+
the
+形容词最高级+可数名词复数”可知,此处用名词复数languages。故将language改为languages。
6.
考查动词原形。句意:所以我不遗余力地练习,直到最后我能用英语清楚地交流。固定搭配spare
no
efforts
to
do
sth.(不遗余力干某事),to是不定式符号,其后应用动词原形practise。故将practising改为practise。
7.
考查副词。句意:所以我不遗余力地练习,直到最后我能用英语清楚地交流。此处用副词clearly(清楚地)作状语修饰动词communicate。故将clear改为clearly。
8.
考查连词。句意:虽然我现在回到尼日利亚,但我很少说母语。Although(虽然……但是……)不能和but连用,but多余。故去掉but。
9.
考查比较级。句意:我对面对世界比以前更有信心,我不再害怕在公共场合讲话。than是比较级的标志,此处指“更有信心”,应用比较级,confident是多音节词,其比较级是在该词前面加more。故在confident前面加more。
10.
考查固定搭配。句意:我对面对世界比以前更有信心,我不再害怕在公共场合讲话。固定搭配in
public(在公共场合)。故将at改为in。
