第一节
阅读理解(共10小题;每小题2分,满分20分)
请阅读下列短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
China’s
Grand
Canal
For
centuries,
the
power
of
Chinese
emperors
rose
and
fell
with
their
control
of
the
Grand
Canal.
Today,
this
waterway
is
shorter
than
it
once
was,
but
it
is
still
the
longest
man-made
river
in
the
world.
Importantly,
the
Grand
Canal
continues
to
provide
a
vital
cultural
and
economic
link
for
modern
China.
Construction
Begins
The
original
canal
system
began
around
the
year
605.
China’s
Emperor
Yang
realized
that
he
needed
a
better
way
to
feed
his
army.
Specifically,
he
needed
a
way
to
move
food
quickly
from
China’s
southern
rice-growing
region
to
the
country’s
north.
So,
the
emperor
ordered
the
construction
of
the
first
section
of
the
Grand
Canal,
connecting
existing
canals,
lakes,
and
rivers.
An
estimated
one
million
people—mostly
farmers—worked
on
the
construction,
which
took
six
years.
Cultural
Connections
In
addition
to
moving
rice
around
China,
the
Grand
Canal
was
an
important
cultural
conduit.
Soldiers,
merchants,
and
artists
transported
ideas,
regional
foods,
and
cultural
practices
from
one
part
of
China
to
another.
According
to
legend,
this
is
how
Beijing
acquired
two
of
its
best-known
trademarks.
Peking
duck,
a
dish
from
Shandong
Province,
and
the
Peking
opera,
from
Anhui
and
Hubei
regions,
were
both
brought
north
via
the
canal.
The
Modern
Canal
For
more
than
a
thousand
years,
goods
have
been
transported
along
the
Grand
Canal.
Even
today,
the
country’s
watery
highway
plays
an
important
economic
role
in
China.
Boats
continue
to
carry
tons
of
coal,
food,
and
other
goods
to
points
between
Hangzhou
and
Jining—now
the
northernmost
city
the
canal
reaches.
In
addition,
local
governments—eager
to
increase
tourism
and
real
estate
development—are
beautifying
areas
along
the
canal.
This
development
comes
at
a
price,
though.
In
Yangzhou,
the
city
has
torn
down
almost
all
of
the
older
canal-side
buildings.
Farther
south
in
the
cities
of
Zhenjiang,
Wuxi,
and
Hangzhou,
the
situation
is
similar.
The
hope
now
is
that
the
Grand
Canal—one
of
the
world’s
great
engineering
accomplishments—will
continue
to
link
north
and
south
China
for
centuries
to
some.
.
Why
was
the
Grand
Canal
originally
built?
A.
To
allow
the
army
to
move
quickly
from
the
north
to
the
south.
B.
To
transport
food
from
the
southern
regions
of
China
to
the
north.
C.
To
enable
more
people
to
visit
remote
parts
of
China.
D.
To
promote
the
cultural
and
traditional
diversity
of
south
China.
22.
What
is
NOT
true
about
the
Grand
Canal?
A.
It
originally
took
six
years
to
complete
its
construction.
B.
Even
today,
it
is
the
longest
man-made
river
in
the
world.
C.
Around
a
million
people
worked
on
the
first
part
of
the
canal.
D.
It
allowed
Peking
duck
and
the
Peking
opera
to
spread
to
southern
China.
23.
The
following
sentence
would
best
be
placed
at
the
end
of

World
Health
Organization
(WHO)
chief
scientist
Soumya
Swami
Nathan
said
Monday
that
herd
immunity(群体免疫)to
coronavirus
would
not
be
achieved
in
20,
despite
the
growing
availability
of
vaccines(疫苗产量).
Factors
that
cannot
realize
herd
immunity
include
limited
access
to
vaccines
in
developing
countries,
skepticism(质疑)over
vaccination,
and
the
potential
for
virus
mutations,
according
to
health
experts.
A
growing
number
of
countries
around
the
world,
including
the
United
States,
the
United
Kingdom,
Singapore,
Germany
and
other
European
Union
countries,
are
in
the
first
stages
of
mass-vaccination
campaigns.
Herd
immunity
occurs
when
enough
people
in
a
population
have
immunity
to
an
infection
so
that
it
prevents
the
disease
from
spreading.
“We
are
not
going
to
achieve
any
levels
of
population
immunity
or
herd
immunity
in
20,”
Swami
Nathan
told
a
briefing,
while
emphasizing
that
measures
like
physical
distancing,
hand
washing
and
mask
wearing
continue
to
be
necessary
in
containing
COVID’s
spread
for
the
rest
of
the
year.
However,
Swami
Nathan
praised
the
“incredible
progress”
made
by
vaccine
researchers
to
develop
several
safe
and
effective
vaccines
at
fast
speed.
Countries
are
currently
administering
vaccines
developed
by
BioNTech-Pfizer,
Oxford
University/AstraZeneca
and
Moderna.
“The
vaccines
are
going
to
come,”
she
said.
“They
are
going
to
go
to
all
countries
...
but
meanwhile
we
mustn’t
forget
that
there
are
measures
that
work,”
she
added,
referring
to
hygiene
and
social
distancing.
“We
won’t
get
back
to
normal
quickly,”
Dale
Fisher,
chairman
of
the
WHO’s
Outbreak
Alert
and
Response
Network,
told
a
conference
hosted
by
Reuters
news
agency.
“We
know
we
need
to
get
to
herd
immunity
and
we
need
that
in
a
majority
of
countries,
so
we
are
not
going
to
see
that
in
20,”
Fisher
said.
“There
might
be
some
countries
that
might
achieve
it
but
even
then
that
will
not
create
‘normal’
especially
in
terms
of
border
controls,”
he
added.
24
Which
is
NOT
the
factor
that
prevent
herd
immunity?
A.
The
growing
availability
of
vaccines
B.
Access
to
vaccines
in
developing
countries
C.
Doubt
about
vaccination
D.
The
possible
mutations
of
virus
25.
What
can
we
learn
from
what
Fisher
said?
A.
In
many
countries
in
20,
people
will
live
a
‘normal’
life
in
terms
of
border
controls.
B.
If
some
countries
might
achieve
herd
immunity,
people
will
live
a
‘normal’
life.
C.
There
may
be
a
long
way
to
get
to
herd
immunity
all
over
the
world.
D.
In
terms
of
good
border
controls,
we
can
achieve
herd
immunity.
26.
What
is
the
attitude
of
Swami
Nathan
to
the
progress
of
vaccine?
A.
Negative
B.
Unclear
C.
Positive
D.
Neutral
C
When
you
are
asked
to
draw
a
picture,
in
spite
of
your
best
effort,
you
can’t
make
it
look
like
the
model
shown.
Then
you
may
have
thought,
“I
don’t
have
a
creative
bone
in
my
body.”
According
to
some
scientists,
who
for
the
past
20
years
have
studied
the
complex
subject
of
creativity
through
a
series
of
research
strictly,
you
are
underrating
yourself.
Da
Vinci
you
may
never
be,
but
when
it
comes
to
creativity,
we
are
all
somewhat
blessed.
It’s
learning
to
develop
this
unique
tool
of
extraordinary
productivity,
and
then
applying
it
in
everything
you
do,
that
counts
to
tell
you
from
figures
like
Da
Vinci.
“Even
if
we
don’t
have
the
good
fortune
to
discover
a
new
chemical
element
or
write
a
great
story,
the
love
of
the
creative
process
for
its
own
sake
is
available
to
all,”
says
Mihaly
Csikszentmihalyi
in
Creativity:
Flow
and
Psychology
of
Discovery
and
Invention.
Most
people
believe
the
ability
of
creativity
has
been
awarded
to
those
considered
to
have
special
talent.
We
look
upon
these
“creative
geniuses”,
as
we
often
call
them,
with
respect
and
a
bit
of
envy.
Their
abilities,
most
people
assume,
are
due
to
good
genes,
or,
as
if
in
Greek
mythology,
from
some
kind
of
god’s
inspiration.
There
is
no
argument
that
the
world
is
never
short
of
highly
talented
and
creative
people.
They
are
masters
of
their
trades
and
stand
heads-and-shoulders
above
common
people,
making
new
pathways
for
others
to
follow,
and
providing
greater
context
and
understanding
of
our
world.
It
could
be
said
that
without
creativity
humanity
would
not
evolve
so
rapidly.
But
like
a
publicly
recognized
creative
baseball
player
who
possesses
his
skill
through
years
of
continuous
training,
foregoing
other
pursuits
for
the
only
passion,
people
who
show
the
slightest
unwillingness
for
challenging
labor
are
bound
to
witness
their
boasted(吹嘘的)ability
disappear.
After
closely
studying
91
creative
and
influential
people,
including
novelists,
playwrights,
composers,
musicians
and
scientists,
Csikszentmihalyi
concludes
that
no
one
would
ignore
the
sweat
they
shed
and
their
almost
crazy
willingness
to
follow
their
creative
effort
to
the
very
end,
wherever
that
may
be.
These
are
the
very
things
we
all
can
master,
so
long
as
we’d
like
to.
27.
It’s
widely
believed
that
creativity
comes
from
________.
A.
good
training
people
receive
from
artistic
classes
B.
the
tool
we
learn
from
masters
like
Da
Vinci
C.
some
kind
of
god
from
Greek
D.
the
inborn
genes
or
relevant
gifts
28.
Which

the
following
statements

according
to
the

A.
People
don’t
think
that
the
world

B.
People’s
admiration
of
geniuses
makes
humanity
develop
quickly.
C.
The
field
of
baseball
requires
more
gifts
than

What
is
the

about?
A.
Creative
people
view
things
differently
from
ordinary
people.
B.
The
reasons
for
the
success
of
those
possessing
creativity
C.
People’s

___31___Here's
how:
Plan
your

carefully.
When
planning
your
work,
you
should
make
a
list

you
should
make
a

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
The
eight-year-old
Carol
lived
with
her
father
David,
Mother
May
and
elder
brother
Rob.
The
little
family
happily
lived
in
a
beautiful
village
surrounded
with
beautiful
nature.
The
village
was
at
the
foot
of
a
mountain,
with
beautiful
views
of
the
snowy
mountain.
The
family
survived
on
growing
seasonal
plants
and
trees.
Their
life
is
totally
surrounded
by
nature
and
beauty.
While
they
lived
a
very
happy
life,
Carol
did
not
love
the
beautiful
atmosphere
of
the
village.
She
really
wanted
to
move
into
the
city
and
enjoy
the
city
life.
She
wanted
to
shop,
move
around
the
city,
watch
movies,
and
eat
in
fantastic
restaurants
and
cafes,
etc.
However,
there
was
hardly
any
chance
that
Carol's
family
moved
to
the
city
as
they
had
everything
in
the
village.
One
day,
Carol
fell
asleep
during
the
early
noon
and
she
had
a
sound
sleep.
Of
course,
she
had
a
strange
dream.
She
saw
her
grandmother
in
her
dream
as
a
fairy
and
her
deceased
grandmother
granted
her
a
wish.
Carol
requested
her
that
she
should
love
to
enjoy
the
city
life
as
she
always
desired.
Grandmother
understood
the
desire
of
Carol,
but
still
wanted
to
convince
her
that
the
peaceful
village
life
is
better
than
the
city
life.
She
told
Carol,
“Baby,
you
cannot
have
access
to
fresh
fruits
and
vegetables
from
plants
as
you
have
at
your
home.
You
cannot
breathe
fresh
air.
You
cannot
play
with
animals.
You
can
hardly
find
any
trees.
You
will
not
find
peace
as
you
see
here!
Do
you
still
want
to
go
to
the
city?”
Without
hearing
the
concerns,
Carol
asked
her
grandmother
to
grant
the
wish.
Grandmother
granted
her
wish,
but
with
a
condition.
Carol
was
told
that
she
would
only
have
6
hours
to
spend
in
the
city.
Later,
she
would
return
to
the
village.
Carol
agreed.

W:
Right!
Actually
their

they

so
violently
that
they

W:
Yes!
And
their

are
much
bigger
than
our

A
China’s
Grand
Canal
For
centuries,
the
power
of
Chinese
emperors
rose
and
fell
with
their
control
of
the
Grand
Canal.
Today,
this
waterway
is
shorter
than
it
once
was,
but
it
is
still
the
longest
man-made
river
in
the
world.
Importantly,
the
Grand
Canal
continues
to
provide
a
vital
cultural
and
economic
link
for
modern
China.
Construction
Begins
The
original
canal
system
began
around
the
year
605.
China’s
Emperor
Yang
realized
that
he
needed
a
better
way
to
feed
his
army.
Specifically,
he
needed
a
way
to
move
food
quickly
from
China’s
southern
rice-growing
region
to
the
country’s
north.
So,
the
emperor
ordered
the
construction
of
the
first
section
of
the
Grand
Canal,
connecting
existing
canals,
lakes,
and
rivers.
An
estimated
one
million
people—mostly
farmers—worked
on
the
construction,
which
took
six
years.
Cultural
Connections
In
addition
to
moving
rice
around
China,
the
Grand
Canal
was
an
important
cultural
conduit.
Soldiers,
merchants,
and
artists
transported
ideas,
regional
foods,
and
cultural
practices
from
one
part
of
China
to
another.
According
to
legend,
this
is
how
Beijing
acquired
two
of
its
best-known
trademarks.
Peking
duck,
a
dish
from
Shandong
Province,
and
the
Peking
opera,
from
Anhui
and
Hubei
regions,
were
both
brought
north
via
the
canal.
The
Modern
Canal
For
more
than
a
thousand
years,
goods
have
been
transported
along
the
Grand
Canal.
Even
today,
the
country’s
watery
highway
plays
an
important
economic
role
in
China.
Boats
continue
to
carry
tons
of
coal,
food,
and
other
goods
to
points
between
Hangzhou
and
Jining—now
the
northernmost
city
the
canal
reaches.
In
addition,
local
governments—eager
to
increase
tourism
and
real
estate
development—are
beautifying
areas
along
the
canal.
This
development
comes
at
a
price,
though.
In
Yangzhou,
the
city
has
torn
down
almost
all
of
the
older
canal-side
buildings.
Farther
south
in
the
cities
of
Zhenjiang,
Wuxi,
and
Hangzhou,
the
situation
is
similar.
The
hope
now
is
that
the
Grand
Canal—one
of
the
world’s
great
engineering
accomplishments—will
continue
to
link
north
and
south
China
for
centuries
to
some.
.
Why
was
the
Grand
Canal
originally
built?
A.
To
allow
the
army
to
move
quickly
from
the
north
to
the
south.
B.
To
transport
food
from
the
southern
regions
of
China
to
the
north.
C.
To
enable
more
people
to
visit
remote
parts
of
China.
D.
To
promote
the
cultural
and
traditional
diversity
of
south
China.
22.
What
is
NOT
true
about
the
Grand
Canal?
A.
It
originally
took
six
years
to
complete
its
construction.
B.
Even
today,
it
is
the
longest
man-made
river
in
the
world.
C.
Around
a
million
people
worked
on
the
first
part
of
the
canal.
D.
It
allowed
Peking
duck
and
the
Peking
opera
to
spread
to
southern
China.
23.
The
following
sentence
would
best
be
placed
at
the
end
of
which
paragraph?
The
city
of
Yangzhou,
for
example,
has
created
a
beautiful
park
near
its
waterfront.
A.
Para

【22题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段中“Today,
this
waterway
is
shorter
than
it
once
was,
but
it
is
still
the
longest
man-made
river
in
the
world.(今天,这条水道比以前短了,但它仍然是世界上最长的人工河流)”以及第二段中“An
estimated
one
million
people—mostly
farmers—worked
on
the
construction,
which
took
six
years.(据估计,大约有100万人——其中大部分是农民——为这座耗时6年的建筑工作)”可知,关于大运河的说法中,D选项“它使北京烤鸭和京剧传播到中国南方”不正确。故选D。
【23题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段最后一句“In
addition,
local
governments—eager
to
increase
tourism
and
real
estate
development—are
beautifying
areas
along
the
canal.(此外,当地政府急于增加旅游业和房地产开发,正在美化运河沿岸地区)”可推知,第四段最后一句提到了政府正在美化运河沿岸地区,可推测下一句应当是就美化措施进行举例,故“例如,扬州市在滨水区附近建了一个美丽的公园”最适合放在第四段末尾。故选C。

Monday
that
herd

vaccines(疫苗产量).
Factors
that
cannot
realize
herd

include
limited
access
to

and
the
potential
for
virus

occurs
when

Swami
Nathan
told
a

while
emphasizing
that
measures
like
physical
distancing,
hand

continue
to
be
necessary
in
containing
COVID’s

Swami
Nathan
praised
the
“incredible

made
by

she
added,
referring
to
hygiene

Dale
Fisher,
chairman
of
the
WHO’s

that
might
achieve
it
but
even
then
that
will
not
create
‘normal’
especially
in

he
added.
24.
Which
is
NOT
the
factor

When
you
are
asked
to
draw
a
picture,
in
spite
of
your
best
effort,
you
can’t
make
it
look
like
the
model
shown.
Then
you
may
have
thought,
“I
don’t

According
to
some
scientists,
who
for
the
past
20

studied
the
complex
subject
of
creativity
through
a
series
of
research
strictly,
you
are
underrating
yourself.
Da

you
may
never
be,
but
when
it
comes
to
creativity,
we
are
all
somewhat
blessed.
It’s
learning
to
develop
this
unique
tool
of
extraordinary
productivity,
and
then
applying
it
in
everything
you
do,
that
counts
to

“Even
if
we
don’t

the

or

the

is
available
to
all,”
says
Mihaly
Csikszentmihalyi
in
Creativity:
Flow
and
Psychology
of
Discovery
and
Invention.
Most
people
believe
the
ability
of
creativity
has
been
awarded
to
those
considered
to
have
special
talent.
We
look
upon
these
“creative
geniuses”,
as
we
often
call
them,
with
respect
and
a
bit
of
envy.
Their
abilities,
most
people
assume,
are
due
to
good
genes,
or,
as
if
in
Greek
mythology,
from
some
kind
of
god’s
inspiration.
There
is
no
argument
that
the
world
is
never
short
of
highly
talented
and
creative
people.
They
are
masters
of
their
trades
and
stand
heads-and-shoulders
above
common
people,
making
new
pathways
for
others
to
follow,
and
providing
greater
context
and
understanding
of
our
world.
It
could
be
said
that
without
creativity
humanity
would
not
evolve
so
rapidly.
But
like
a
publicly
recognized
creative
baseball
player
who
possesses
his
skill
through
years
of
continuous
training,
foregoing
other
pursuits
for
the
only
passion,
people
who
show
the
slightest
unwillingness
for
challenging
labor
are
bound
to
witness
their
boasted(吹嘘的)ability
disappear.
After
closely
studying
91
creative
and
influential
people,
including
novelists,
playwrights,
composers,
musicians
and
scientists,
Csikszentmihalyi
concludes
that
no
one
would
ignore
the
sweat
they
shed
and
their
almost
crazy
willingness
to
follow

to
set

The

Mother

The

happily
lived

surrounded
with
beautiful
nature.
The
village
was
at
the
foot
of
a
mountain,
with
beautiful
views
of

snowy
mountain.
The
family
survived
on
growing
seasonal
plants
and
trees.
Their

While
they

She

convince
her
that
the
peaceful
village
life
is
better
than
the
city
life.
She
told
Carol,
“Baby,
you
cannot

Do
you
still
want
to
go
to
the
city?”
Without
hearing
the
concerns,
Carol
asked
her
grandmother
to
grant
the
wish.
Grandmother
granted
her
wish,
but
with
a
condition.
Carol
was
told
that
she
would
