2.???
It
can
be
really
hard
to
learn
a
new
language.
I
had
always
enjoyed
learning
languages
in
school.
Only
recently
did
I
start
learning
German.
I
found
that
I
could
understand
and
learn
individual
words
easily,
but
when
it
came
to
literature,
I
really
struggled.
That
happened
when
my
tutor
at
university
suggested
reading
some
children's
books
printed
in
the
target
language.
???
At
first,
I
felt
a
bit
silly
going
on
a
hunt
for
a
book
designed
for
someone
half
my
age,
but
then
I
realised
that
everyone
has
to
start
somewhere.
As
children,
we
are
given
these
basic
texts
to
familiarise
our
brains
with
certain
vocabularies
and
writing
structures,
and
from
there,
we
can
learn
and
develop.
I
started
with
books
which
are
taught
to
us
as
children
in
the
UK.
I
managed
to
find
Oliver
Twist
by
Charles
Dickens
and
James
and
the
Giant
Peach
by
Roald
Dahl.
???
The
beauty
of
reading
books
that
were
introduced
to
you
as
a
child
is
that
you
are
already
familiar
with
the
plot.
Therefore,
you
can
work
out
some
words
with
your
knowledge
of
the
story.
At
first,
I
used
to
read
with
the
book
in
one
hand
and
a
dictionary
in
the
other,
but
this
did
not
work
well.
The
method
I
would
recommend
is
to
read
a
chapter
first
and
at
the
end
of
that
chapter,
highlight
the
new
words
and
then
look
up
the
definitions.
If
you
can
wait
a
bit
before
using
a
dictionary,
you
may
be
surprised
at
what
you
can
understand
merely
from
the
context.
Additionally,
a
lot
of
children's
books
have
pictures
which
may
give
you
a
clue
as
to
what
or
whom
the
passage
is
referring
to.
???
If
you
can
find
translations
of
the
books
you
have
read
as
a
child,
I
would
strongly
advise
you
to
read
those
if
you
are
a
complete
beginner.
However,
if
you
feel
a
bit
more
confident
of
reading
in
English,
I
would
personally
recommend
the
series
of
Harry
Potter
by
J.K.
Rowling
or
any
of
the
Roald
Dahl's
children's
books.

3.Why
do
Americans
struggle
with
watching
their
weight,
while
the
French,
who
consume
rich
food,
continue
to
stay
thin?
Now
a
research
by
Cornell
University
suggests
how
life
style
and
decisions
about
eating
may
affect
weight.
Researchers
concluded
that
the
French
tend
to
stop
eating
when
they
feel
full.
However,
Americans
tend
to
stop
when
their
plate
is
empty
or
their
favorite
TV
show
is
over.
According
to
Dr.
Joseph
Mercola,
a
health
expert,
the
French
see
eating
as
an
important
part
of
their
life
style.
They
enjoy
food
and
therefore
spend
a
fairly
long
time
at
the
table,
while
Americans
see
eating
as
something
to
be
squeezed
between
the
other
daily
activities.
Mercola
believes
Americans
lose
the
ability
to
sense
when
they
are
actually
full.
So
they
keep
eating
long
after
the
French
would
have
stopped.
In
addition,
he
points
out
that
Americans
drive
to
huge
supermarkets
to
buy
canned
and
frozen
foods
for
the
week.
The
French,
instead,
tend
to
shop
daily,
walking
to
small
shops
and
farmers’
markets
where
they
have
a
choice
of
fresh
fruits,
vegetables,
and
eggs
as
well
as
high-quality
meats
for
each
meal.
After
a
visit
to
the
United
States,
Mireille
Guiliano,
author
of
French
Women
Don’t
Get
Fat,
decided
to
write
about
the
importance
of
knowing
when
to
stop
rather
than
suggesting
how
to
avoid
food.
Today
she
continues
to
stay
slim
and
rarely
goes
to
the
gym.
In
spite
of
all
these
differences,
evidence
shows
that
recent
life
style
changes
may
be
affecting
French
eating
habits.
Today
the
rate
of
obesity—or
extreme
overweight—among
adults
is
only
6%.
However,
as
American
fast
food
gains
acceptance
and
the
young
reject
older
traditions,
the
obesity
rate
among
French
children
has
reached
17%—and
is
growing.
(1)In
what
way
are
the
French
different
from
Americans
according
to
Dr.
Joseph
Mercola?
A.They
go
shopping
at
supermarkets
more
frequently.
B.They
squeeze
eating
between
the
other
daily
activities.
C.They
regard
eating
as
a
key
part
of
their
life
style.
D.They
usually
eat
too
much
canned
and
frozen
food.
(2)This
text
is
mainly
about
the
relationship

_________.
A.Americans
and
the
French
B.life
style
and
obesity

and
adults
D.fast

this
text
probably
come
from?
A.A
TV

review.
4.If
English
means
endless
new
words,
difficult
grammar
and
sometimes
strange
pronunciation,
you
are
wrong.
Haven’t
you
noticed
that
you
have
become
smarter
since
you
started
to
learn
a
language?
According
to
a
new
study
by
a
British
university,
learning
a
second
language
can
lead
to
an
increase
in
your
brain
power.Researchers
found
that
learning
other
languages
changes
grey
matter.This
is
the
area
of
the
brain
which
processes
information.It
is
similar
to
the
way
that
exercise
builds
muscles.
The
study
also
found
the
younger
people
learn
a
second
language,
the
better
the
effect
is.
A
team
led
by
Dr.Andrea
Mechelli,
from
University
College
London,
took
a
group
of
Britons
who
only
spoke
English.They
were
compared
with
a
group
of
“early
bilinguals”
who
had
learnt
a
second
language
before
the
age
of
five,
as
well
as
a
number
of
later
learners.
Scans
showed
that
grey
matter
density
(密度)
in
the
brain
was
greater
in
bilinguals
than
in
people
without
a
second
language.But
the
longer
a
person
waited
before
mastering
a
new
language,
the
smaller
the
difference
was.
“Our
findings
suggest
that
the
structure
of
the
brain
is
changed
by
the
experience
of
learning
a
second
language,”
said
the
scientists.
It
means
that
the
change
itself
increases
the
ability
to
learn.
Professor
Dylan
Vaughan
Jones
of
the
University
of
Wales,
has
researched
the
link
between
bilingualism
and
maths
skills.“Having
two
languages
gives
you
two
windows
on
the
world
and
makes
the
brain
more
flexible,”he
said.“You
are
actually
going
beyond
language
and
have
a
better
understanding
of
different
ideas.”
The
findings
were
matched
in
a
study
of
native
Italian
speakers
who
had
learned
English
as
a
second
language
between
two
and
34.Reading,
writing,
and
comprehension
were
all
tested.The
results
showed
that
the
younger
they
started
to
learn,
the
better.“Studying
a
language
means
you
get
an
entrance
to
another
world,”
explained
the
scientists.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
5.???
Today
we
take
a
look
at
the
word
"smart".
If
someone
says
you
are
smart,
what
do
they
mean?
Is
it
a
good
thing
or
something
bad??①_____
This
is
because
the
word
“smart”
has
many
meanings.
???
For
example,
someone
could
say
you
look
smart
or
are
dressed
smartly.
That
means
they
like
your
physical
appearance
or
what
you
are
wearing.
???
But
if
something
smarts,
it
can
be
unkind
or
hurtful,
either
physically
or
mentally.
If
you
accidentally
trip
over
a
chair
and
fall
down,
you
might
shout,
"Ow!
That
smarts!"
Or
if
a
friend
says
something
that
hurts
your
feelings,
you
can
say
you
are
smarting
from
the
hurtful
comments.
②______
????If
you
are
standing
too
close
to
a
campfire,
you
could
say
your
eyes
are
smarting
from
the
smoke
of
the
fire.
Here
the
word
"smarting"
means
feeling
a
sharp
pain.
???
③_____
If
someone
is
smart
as
a
whip,
they
are
able
to
think
very
quickly.
???
④_____
Some
people
are
considered
street-smart.
They
may
not
have
a
strong
education.
But
they
are
good
at
dealing
with
people
and
problems
in
the
real
world.
Other
people
might
be
book-smart.
This
means
they
have
spent
many
years
in
school.
But
they
may
not
be
so
smart
when
dealing
with
people
or
real-world
problems.
????And
then
there
is
a
definition
of
"smart"
that
means
to
talk
or
behave
disrespectfully.
If
you
say
something
disrespectful
to
your
parents,
they
might
say,
"Don't
get
smart
with
me!"
Here,
"smart"
means
showing
a
lack
of
respect
by
saying
something
unkind.
This
definition
of
smart
can
also
be
used
as
a
verb.
⑤_____
A.Do
they
really
mean
you
are
smart?
B.The
answer
is
not
as
easy
as
you
might
think.
C.People
have
different
attitudes
towards
being
smart.
D.In
fact,
maybe
that
person
is
no
longer
your
friend.
E.But
the
most
common
meaning
of
"smart"
is
to
be
intelligent.
F.However,
different
people
have
different
ways
of
being
smart.
G.If
you
smart
off
to
the
wrong
people,
they
could
hit
you
in
the
face.

第二节
(满分25分)
9.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数为150左右。
Steve
was
the
most
amazing
person
in
all
of
Minneapolis,
and
he
was
my
cousin.
By
the
age
of
19,
Steve
was
a
star
baseball
player
at
the
University
of
Minnesota.
I
wanted
to
be
exactly
like
him.
So
when
Steve
asked
me
to
go
with
him
on
a
spring
fishing
trip
in
northern
Minnesota,
I
was
excited!
After
planning
the
trip,
we
gathered
clothes
and
supplies,
and
began
our
great
adventure.
We
reached
the
Superior
National
Forest
in
northern
Minnesota
by
early
evening.
On
our
way
to
the
campsite,
Steve
pointed
to
a
small
house
faraway
in
one
of
the
mountains,
saying
that
it
was
the
ranger
station
(护林站)
where
the
forester
worked.
Finally,
after
a
long
walk,
we
reached
the
campsite
and
set
up
the
camp
as
the
sun
was
setting.
Steve
knew
all
the
tricks
of
an
experienced
wilderness
camper.
After
we
gathered
enough
wood
from
the
forest,
he
started
the
campfire
using
only
stone
and
steel

no
matches.
For
supper
we
feasted
on
freeze-dried
beef,
wild
rice
and
pea
soup.
I
ate
greedily
after
all
that
work.
Tired
enough,
we
climbed
into
our
sleeping
bags
early
and
talked
about
our
plans
for
fishing
the
next
day.
We
were
still
talking
quietly
when
a
sudden
north
wind
picked
up;
the
temperature
dropped
and
it
began
to
snow.
Steve
found
a
way
to
increase
the
temperature
inside
the
tent.
He
dragged
a
log
from
the
forest
to
the
opposite
side
of
the
campfire.
Then
he
wrapped
aluminum
foil
(铝箔)
around
the
log.
The
heat
from
the
fire
reflected
off
the
foil
and
into
the
tent.
Soon
images
of
lake
fish
were
filling
my
dreams.
The
snow
had
stopped,
but
sometime
later
a
powerful
wind
must
have
kicked
up
the
flames
of
our
dying
fire.
I
was
suddenly
awakened
by
Steve.
Our
tent
was
on
fire.
Frightened,
I
ran
out
of
the
tent
immediately.
The
tent
collapsed
(倒塌)
with
Steve
inside.
Without
any
thought
of
endangering
myself,
I
reached
into
the
burning
tent
and
pulled
him
to
the
icy
lake.
Fortunately,
we
were
not
seriously
hurt.

spot
a
particularly
good
choice
for
families.可知,对于家庭来说,这是一个特别好的选择。所以如果你打算和家人一起去南非旅行,汤普森湾,贝利托海滩最适合你。故选A项。
2.细节理解题。由Umhlanga
Rocks,
Durban中的the
resort
town
of
Umhlanga
is
a

at
this
point,
too,
and
offers
another
bathing
spot
on
days
when
the
surf
in
the
sea
is
bigger
than
usual.可知,戈努比河也在这里入海,在海浪比平时大的日子里,提供了另一个海水浴的地方。所以当你在戈努比海滩遇到汹涌的海浪时,可以在另一个浴场进行海水浴。故选B项。
2.答案:1-4
DBAA
解析:1.细节理解题。由第一段中的I
found
that
I
could
understand
and
learn
individual
words
easily,
but
when
it
came
to
literature,
I
really
struggled.可知,
作者感到学德语难是因为自己不能流利地读德语的书。故选D。
2.细节理解题。由第二段中的At
first,
I
felt
a
bit
silly
going
on
a
hunt
for
a
book
designed
for
someone
half
my
age可知,
最初,
作者觉得读一本为只有他一半年龄的人设计的书有点愚蠢。所以最初作者认为读目标语言的儿童读物有点愚蠢。故选B。
3.主旨大意题。根据第三段中的Therefore,
you
can
work
out
some
words
with
your
knowledge
of
the
story.可知,
本段主要讲在阅读时怎么处理新单词。故选A。
4.推理判断题。由最后一段中的If
you
can
find
translations
of
the
books
you
have
read
as
a
child,
I
would
strongly
advise
you
to
read
those
if
you
are
a
complete
beginner.可知,
作者写此篇文章的目的是就怎么学习一门新语言提出自己的建议。故选A。
3.答案:(1)-(4)CBAC

法国人把饮食看作他们生活方式中一个很重要的部分,而美国人则不重视饮食。故选C。
(2)主旨大意题。本文主要讲述通过对美国和法国两国饮食习惯的对比,揭示生活方式和肥胖有着密切的关系。故选B项。
(3)推理判断题。本文主要是围绕美、法两国饮食习惯对比展开的,最终得出结论:生活方式和肥胖有着密切的关系,故选A项。
(4)推理判断题。本篇文章对美、法两国饮食习惯进行对比,很显然这和健康有关,故选C项。
【长难句分析】However,
as
American
fast
food
gains
acceptance
and
the
young
reject
older
traditions,
the
obesity
rate
among
French
children
has
reached
17%—and
is
growing.但是,随着美式快餐(在法国)越来越受欢迎以及年轻人拒绝传统的饮食习惯,法国儿童患肥胖症的比例已经达到17%,而且这个比例还在增长。本句为复合句。as引导的状语从句表示原因。
4.答案:1.C;
2.D;
3.A;
4.C
解析:
1.C
主旨大意题。作者在本文第一段中就提出了主题,然后下文围绕这一主题进行深入阐述,即“语言学习可以提高你的智力”。
2.D
推理判断题。作者在第二段中把语言学习对大脑的促进作用比作体育锻炼对强健肌肉的促进作用,也就是说语言学习对大脑有类似的促进作用。再根据“Researchers...changes
grey
matter.This
is
the
area
of
the
brain
which
processes
information.”可知,语言学习对大脑的促进作用表现在改变grey
matter上。
3.A
推理判断题。根据第五段可推出答案。
4.C
词义猜测题。根据该词后“who
had
learnt
a
second
language
before
the
age
of
five”可得出答案。
5.答案:①-⑤
BDEFG
解析:①根据上文If
someone
says
you
are
smart,
what
do
they
mean?
Is
it
a
good
thing
or
something
bad?和设空处后的This
is
because
the
word
"smart"
has
many
meanings.可知,
设空处应是对问句的回答或是"smart"有多种含义的结果。B项(答案可能并不像你想的那么容易。)承上启下,
符合语境。故选B项。
②根据上文Or
if
a
friend
says
something
that
hurts
your
feelings,
you
can?say
you
are
smarting
from
the
hurtful
comments.可知,
设空处应说明被朋友伤害后的结果。D项(事实上,
也许那个人不再是你的朋友了。)承接上文,
符合语境。故选D项。
③根据下文If
someone
is
smart
as
a
whip,
they
are
able
to
think
very
quickly.可知此处应该说smart具有"聪明的"含义。E项(但是,
"smart"最常见的含义是"聪明的"。)符合语境。故选E项。
④根据设空处后的Some
people
are
considered
street-smart.以及本段第五句Other
people
might
be
book-smart.可知,
这段讲了两种聪明:
处世聪明和读书聪明。F项(然而,
不同的人有不同方式的聪明。)引出下文,
符合语境。故选F项。
⑤根据本段第一句和设空处前一句This
definition
of
smart
can
also
be
used
as
a
verb.可知,
此处应该说明smart表示"不敬"时的动词用法。G项中的smart为动词,
承接上文,
符合语境。
6.答案:1.C;
2.A;
3.B;
4.D;
5.A;
6.C;
7.B;
8.D;
9.C;
10.B;
11.A;
12.D;
13.C;
14.A;
15.D
解析:1.根据第2段第1句话中的“Each
time
a
taxi
drove
up
to
the
station”可知本题选C。
2.根据下文第4段中的“Then
as
I
was...to
the
sidewalk”可知,本题选A。
3.根据下文可知,这些小孩为要小费,互相争抢着为客人开车门,故可知一名“幸运的”小孩会为客人拉开车门,故选B。
4.根据倒数第3段第1句中的“However,
the
man
did
not
tip
him
a
quarter.”可知,那个男人并没有给这个小孩小费,故给“小费”是众所周知的惯例,故选D。
5.有一天作者“注意到”一个小孩,approach“靠近;接近”;greet
“问候;打招呼”;recognize“认出”。
6.根据前后句的关系可知,他不和其他孩子相争,“而是”站在一边。
7.根据下一段中的“As
I
pulled
up”可知,作者要将车停在人行道边上。
set
off“动身;出发”;speed
up“加速”;
make
out“分辨;看清”;pull
up“停下来”故选B。
8.根据下句“They
didn’t
notice
mine.”可知,这些孩子没有注意到作者开的这辆出租车,而是在追赶作者“前面”的那辆出租车,故选D。
9.根据第3段可知,这个孩子不与其他孩子争抢,所以作者把车开到车门就在这个孩子身边的地方,以方便他揽这个活。
10.根据第2段中的
“One...kid
would
open
the
passenger
door...”可知,应该是开车门。
11.根据后面“Get
out
of
my
way!”可知,应是“吵嚷道”。
12.根据前面“He
pushed
him
aside
so
hard
that
the
boy
fell
down”可知被用力推到在地,因此受伤“严重”。
13.根据第3段可知,这个小孩一切的表现都被作者观察到,看在眼中,所以作者想帮助这个小孩一次,却发生了不愉快的事,因此作者想要为了孩子的“努力”给他20美元小费,故选A。
14.根据第3段这个孩子不与其他人争抢的性格可知,此处应是他“默默地”走开。
15.根据上下文叙述的这个孩子的事可推知,此处指当事情如此“绝望”以至于你准备放弃的时候。challenging“挑战性的”;joyful“高兴的”;emotional
“情绪的”;hopeless“绝望的”。
7.答案:①especially
②on
③nations
④greatness
⑤a
⑥is
challenged
⑦given
⑧more
ancient
⑨what
⑩to
increase
解析:①设空处在句中作状语,
应用副词。故填especially。
②have
a
great
effect
on为固定搭配,
意为"对......有很大影响"。故填on。
③nation是可数名词,
此处指不止一个国家,
应用复数形式。故填nations。
④在定冠词the之后作about的宾语,
应用名词。greatness意为"伟大"。故填greatness。
⑤句意为:
他们自己的文化是本土文化和有中国特征的文化的混合体。mix是可数名词,
此处泛指"一个混合体",
所以应用不定冠词。a
mix
of意为"......的混合体"。故填a。
⑥even
if意为"即使",
引导让步状语从句,
challenge是从句谓语动词,
与从句主语it之间是被动关系,
结合全文时态可知应用一般现在时,
故填is
challenged。
⑦设空处应用非谓语动词作定语,
修饰ideas,
give与ideas之间是逻辑上的被动关系,
所以应用过去分词。故填given。
⑧本句指"四书"中的观点来自更早的古代典籍"五经"。通过语境可知,
若把"四书"和"五经"进行比较,
"五经"的历史更为悠久,
且even常用来修饰比较级,
故填more
ancient。
⑨设空处引导宾语从句,
作learns的宾语,
从句中缺少主语,
且表示"......的东西",
所以引导词用what。故填what。
⑩take
steps
to
do
sth意为"采取措施做某事"。故填to
increase。
