Looking
for
a
new
poetry
book
to
read?
I’ve
got
you!
We’re
going
to
explore
some
of
my
favorite
poetry
collections
which
range
from
the
traditional
all
the
way
to
the
totally
experimental.
And
though
they
differ
in
terms
of
tone
and
subject
matter,
they’ve
all
got
we
call
"good
parts".
Night
Sky
with
Exit
Wounds
by
Ocean
Vuong
It
is
the
first
poetry
collection
from
Ocean
Vuong.
Vuong’s
style
is
well-suited
to
the
heavy
subjects
he
pursues,
particularly
when
he
reflects
on
the
loss
of
his
father
and
his
experiences
as
a
wartime
refugee.
There’s
a
certain
wonderful
quality
to
his
writing.
Lunch
Poems
by
Frank
O’Hara
If
you
like
a
conversational
style,
Lunch
Poems
might
be
the
poetry
book
for
you.
Personal,
funny,
and
easy,
the
collection
perfectly
shows
the
casual
voice
of
Frank
O’Hara,
an
outstanding
figure
of
the
New
School
Movement
in
last-’50s
New
York.
As
the
name
suggests
most
of
the
poems
were
written
during
his
lunch
bread
at
work,
bringing
a
realistic
image
by
the
writing.
100
Selected
Poems
by
E.
E.
Cummings
It’s
a
shame
that
more
people
don’t
take
E.
E.
Cummings
seriously.
Yes,
his
poetry
is
sometimes
experimental.
Unconcerned
with
"rules",
Cummings
tried
to
capture
emotion
in
its
own
form.
The
Complete
Poems
by
Elizabeth
Bishop
In
my
opinion,
any
kind
of
fantastic
poetry
books
must
include
Elizabeth
Bishop.
Highly
skilled
and
highly
influential,
Bishop
was
one
of
the
most
powerful
voices
of
the
20th
century.
She
mostly
worked
within
traditional
forms,
but
the
forms
led
to
surprising
effects,
mixing
classic
style
with
modern
ones.
1.
Who
experienced
war?
A.
Frank
O’Hara.
B.
Ocean
Vuong
C.
E.
E.
Cummings.
D.
Elizabeth
Bishop
2.
Which
poetry
collection
reflect
the
real
world?
A.
Lunch
Poems.
B.
100
Selected
Poems
C.
The
Complete
Poems
D.
Night
Sky
with
Exit
Wounds
3.
What
does
the
author
think
of
Elizabeth
Bishop’s
poetry?
A.
It
is
funny
B.
It
is
personal
C.
It
is
excellent
D.
It

The
Caballero
family
from
Tempe,
Arizona
were
outside
on
their
regularly
scheduled
walk
with
their
dog
named
Olive
when
they
were
joined
by
a
tiny
baby
gray
fox.
Now,
apparently,
the
fox
mistook
Olive
for
her
mother
and
started
following
them
around
the
neighborhood.
The
fox
was
about
20
centimeters
in
length
and
had
a
gray
coat.
They
later
found
out
that
she
was
just
6
weeks
old
at
that
point.
The
tiny
fox
followed
them
home,
where
the
sprinklers
were
on
at
that
moment,
so
she
ran
to
have
a
drink,
which
is
when
Rosalyn
noticed
how
thirsty
she
was
as
she
couldn’t
stop
drinking.
Considering
that
the
fox
was
far
away
from
home
and
her
mother,
alone-something
that
is
not
typical
of
foxes,
the
family
decided
it
would
he
best
to
get
in
touch
with
Southwest
Wildlife
Conservation
Center
for
help.
They
found
a
box
and
captured
the
baby
fox
so
that
she
wouldn’t
wander
off
into
danger.
They
got
the
fox
inside
the
box
without
touching
her.
The
kids
were
quick
to
name
her
Foxy.
The
fox
was
soon
brought
to
the
Southwest
Wildlife
Conservation
Center.
She
was
first
fed
using
syringes(注射器),
but
now
has
learned
how
to
eat
on
her
own
from
a
bowl.
"She
appears
to
be
doing
quite
well.
She
was
a
little
dehydrated(脱水)when
we
got
her
but
otherwise
healthy.
She
was
already
eating
solid
food,
so
we’ve
manager
to
fatten
her
up
a
hit
in
the
short
time
she’s
been
at
Southwest
Wildlife.
She’s
likely
to
grow
up
into
a
strong,
healthy
girl,"
explained
Jim
Mitchell
of
the
Southwest
Wildlife
Conservation
Center.
Foxy
is
now
in
good
hands,
being
taken
care
of.
They
are
hoping
to
bond
Foxy
with
some
of
the
other
foxed
that
came
to
the
center
recently
to
return
to
the
wild
once
they
are
strong
enough.

family
well
C.

C
People
in
Florida
recently
had
to
escape
from
flash
floods
after
two
feet
of
rain
fell
in
26
hours.
Heavy
rains
caused
a
hillside
to
break
down
and
bury
a
community
in
Washington
State
earlier
this
year.
Rainstorms
and
floods
attacked
Colorado
last
year,
and
sudden
floods
swept
Atlanta
in
2009,
and
Nashville
in
2010.
In
the
National
Climate
Assessment,
published
last
week,
researchers
in
the
United
States
reported
that
“large
increases
in
heavy
rains
have
occurred
in
the
Northeast,
Midwest
and
Great
Plains,
where
heavy
downpours
have
caused
caused
flooding
events
and
other
relevant
disasters”.
In
the
United
States
the
increase
in
water
vapor
has
been
on
the
order
of
3
percent
or
4
percent
since
the
1970s
when
most
of
the
human-caused
global
warming
has
occurred
since
then.
That
may
not
sound
like
a
big
jump,
but
the
effect
is
enormous.
Two
leading
scientists,
Kevin
E.
Trenberth
at
the
National
Center
for
Atmospheric
Research
and
David
R.
Easterling
at
the
National
Oceanic
and
Atmospheric
Administration,
ran
some
calculations
and
agreed
that
the
global
warming
has
on
average
put
more
than
a
trillion
gallons
(加仓)
of
extra
water
into
the
air
over
the
48
states,
probably
closer
to
two
trillion.
That
extra
water
has
to
fall
as
rain
or
snow
if
the
condition
is
suitable.
“It
rains
harder
than
it
used
to,”
said
Dr.
Trenberth,
who
could
not
resist
adding:
“When
it
rains,
it
pours.”
So
they
suggested
intensifying
standards
for
the
designs
of
dams,
and
hardening
roads
and
culverts
(涵洞)
against
the
possibility
of
more
flash
floods
Society
responded
by
ignoring
them.
For
someone
sitting
in
Pensacola,
Fla.
wondering
why
the
roads
were
washed
out
the
other
day
might
be
a
good
part
of
the
answer.
They
didn’t
want
to
face
the
truth.
The
warming
of
the
planet
has
slowed
in
recent
years,
but
scientists
think
that
is
likely
temporary.
They
expect
it
to
get
much,
much
warmer
as
this
century
progresses,
and
that
can
only
mean
that
the
rains
will
fall
harder
still.
8.
Why
did
the
author
mention
some
floods
in
the
first
paragraph?
A.
To
lead
to
the
topic.
B.
To
attract
young
readers.
C.
To
show
some
evidence.
D.
To
show
the
latest
events.
9.
What
is
the
main
idea
of
paragraph
3?
A.
The
condition
o
fain
or
snow.
B.
The
reason
of
the
rains
and
floods.
C.
The
only
effect
of
global
warming.
D.
The
exact
amount
of
water
in
the
air.
10.

does
the
underlined
word
“intensifying”
mean
in
paragraph
4?
A.
Changing.
B.
Adjusting.
C.
Strengthening.
D.
Decreasing.
11.
What
can
we
infer
about
the
climate
in
the
future?
A.
The
climate
will
be
better
soon.
B.
The
bad
climate
will
disappear.
C.
The
bad
climate
will
be
worse.

The
climate
will

Dancing
with
your
grandma
for
15
minutes
a
week
promotes
positive
feelings
and
improves
her
state
of
mind,
a
study
claims.
Doctors
from
Israel
are
urging
younger
family
members
to
have
a
regular
visit
to
their
grandmas
and
have
a
dance
with
their
grandmas.
And
they
found
a
15
minute
boogie
(布吉舞)
once
a
week
lifted
the
spirits
of
the
elder
family
members
and
helped
strengthen
the
familial
bond.
In
fact,
it
is
called
Dance
Movement
Therapy
(DMT).
DMT
across
the
generations,
complete
with
eye
contact,
was
found
to
promote
positive
feelings
and
improve
mood
for
the
elderly.
The
grandparents
reported
a
bright
state
of
mind,
happy
memories
and
uplifted
spirits.
Dancing
has
also
previously
been
linked
to
improved
muscle
strength,
balance
and
endurance
(耐).
For
the
grandchildren
in
the
study,
the
weekly
boogie
changed
how
they
view
ageing
and
allowed
them
to
come
to
accept
the
eventual
death
of
their
elderly
relative.
The
study
published
in
the
journal
Frontiers
in
Psychology,
assessed
how
dance
affected
the
well-being
of
16
dance
movement
therapists
(治疗师)
and
their
grandmothers.
Dance
movement
therapy
was
paid
attention
due
to
the
fact
that
it
is
easily
accessible
and
does
not
cost
more
to
practice.
The
researchers
were
eager
to
examine
a
low-cost
method
to
treat
issues
commonly
faced
by
an
ageing
population,
such
as
limited
mobility
and
depression.
Grandchildren
were
instructed
to
make
eye
contact
and
encourage
playfulness
and
touch.
They
were
also
told
to
mirror
their
grandmothers’
movements
and
give
them
time
and
space
to
rest
when
needed.
The
sessions
were
recorded
and
then
analysed
while
diaries
and
interviews
captured
the
opinions
and
feelings
of
the
participants.
As
well
as
the
benefits
to
the
health
of
the
senior,
the
experiment
also
changed
the
idea
of
the
younger
family
members.
12.
What
should
the
young
people
do
when
dancing
with
their
grandmas?
A.
Follow
the
grandmas’
eyes.
B.
Look
at
the
grandmas’
eyes.
C.
Move
the
bodies
as
long
as
possible.
D.
Talk
with
their
grandmas
in
gentle
voice.
13.
What
can
we
infer
from
the
third
paragraph?
A.
The
young
should
dance
every
week.
B.
The
senior
were
happy
about
being
old.
C.
The
old
need
parctise
the
special
dance.
D.
The
young
once
resisted
the
final
leaving.
14.
What
is
the
best
advantage
of
DMT?
A.
Cheap.
B.
Relaxing.
C.
Common.
D.
Influential.
15.
What
is
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.
What
does
DMT
Mean?
B.
Dancing:
a

Christmas
Day
was
coming.
I
was
just
a
kid
then,
and
my
big
sister
told
me
there
was
no
Santa
Claus.
I
fled
to
my
Grandma
because
she
would
be
straight
with
me.
I
knew
Grandma
always
told
me
the
truth.
Grandma
was
home,
and
I
told
her
everything.
She
was
ready
for
me.
“No
Santa
Claus
!”
She
shouted.
“Ridiculous!
Don't
believe
it.”
That
rumor
has
been
going
around
for
years,
and
it
makes
me
mad,
plain
mad.
“Now,
put
on
your
coat,
and
let's
go.”
“Go
where,
Grandma?”
I
asked.
“Where”
turned
out
to
be
Kerby's
General
Store,
the
one
store
in
town
that
had
a
little
bit
of
just
about
everything.
As
we
walked
through
its
doors,
Grandma
handed
me
ten
dollars.
“Take
this
money.”
she
said,
“and
buy
something
for
someone
who
needs
it.
I'll
wait
for
you
in
the
car.”
Then
she
turned
and
walked
out
of
Kerby's.
I
was
only
eight
years
old.
I'd
often
gone
shopping
with
my
mother,
but
never
had
I
shopped
for
anything
all
by
myself.
The
store
seemed
big
and
crowded,
full
of
people
competing
to
finish
their
Christmas
shopping.
For
a
few
moments
I
just
stood
there,
confused,
holding
that
ten﹣dollar
bill,
wondering
what
to
buy
and
who
to
buy
it
for.
I
suddenly
thought
of
Bobby
Decker,
who
was
a
kid
with
bad
breath
and
messy
hair.
He
sat
right
behind
me
in
Mrs
Pollock's
grade﹣two
class.
Bobby
Decker
didn't
have
a
coat.
I
knew
that
because
he
never
went
out
for
recess
during
the
winter.
His
mother
always
wrote
a
note
telling
the
teacher
that
he
had
a
cough,
but
we
kids
knew
that
Bobby
Decker
didn't
have
a
cough,
and
he
didn't
have
a
coat.
I
would
buy
Bobby
Decker
a
coat!
I
settled
on
a
red
one,
which
looked
really
warm,
and
he
would
like
that.
“Is
this
a
Christmas
present
for
someone?”
the
lady
behind
the
counter
asked
kindly,
as
I
laid
my
ten
dollars
down.
“Yes.”
The
nice
lady
smiled
at
me,
put
the
coat
in
a
bag
and
wished
me
a
Merry
Christmas.
Para
1:
That
evening,
Grandma
helped
me
wrap
the
coat
in
Christmas
paper.

Grandma
and
I

breathlessly
for
Bobby

and
finally
it
opened.

Looking
for
a
new
poetry
book
to
read?
I’ve
got
you!
We’re
going
to
explore
some
of
my
favorite
poetry
collections,
which
range
from
the
traditional
all
the
way
to
the
totally
experimental.
And
though
they
differ
in
terms
of
tone
and
subject
matter,
they’ve
all
got
we
call
"good
parts".
Night
Sky
with
Exit
Wounds
by
Ocean
Vuong
It
is
the
first
poetry
collection
from
Ocean
Vuong.
Vuong’s
style
is
well-suited
to
the
heavy
subjects
he
pursues,
particularly
when
he
reflects
on
the
loss
of
his
father
and
his
experiences
as
a
wartime
refugee.
There’s
a
certain
wonderful
quality
to
his
writing.
Lunch
Poems
by
Frank
O’Hara
If
you
like
a
conversational
style,
Lunch
Poems
might
be
the
poetry
book
for
you.
Personal,
funny,
and
easy,
the
collection
perfectly
shows
the
casual
voice
of
Frank
O’Hara,
an
outstanding
figure
of
the
New
School
Movement
in
last-’50s
New
York.
As
the
name
suggests
most
of
the
poems
were
written
during
his
lunch
bread
at
work,
bringing
a
realistic
image
by
the
writing.

Selected
Poems
by
E.
E.
Cummings
It’s
a
shame
that
more
people
don’t
take
E.
E.
Cummings
seriously.
Yes,
his
poetry
is
sometimes
experimental.
Unconcerned
with
"rules",
Cummings
tried
to
capture
emotion
in
its
own
form.
The
Complete
Poems
by
Elizabeth
Bishop
In
my
opinion,
any
kind
of
fantastic
poetry
books
must
include
Elizabeth
Bishop.
Highly
skilled
and
highly
influential,
Bishop
was
one
of
the
most
powerful
voices
of
the
20th
century.
She
mostly
worked
within
traditional
forms,
but
the
forms
led
to
surprising
effects,
mixing
classic
style
with
modern
ones.
1.
Who

Frank
O’Hara.
B.
Ocean

his
father
and
his
experiences
as
a

(Vuong的风格非常适合他所追求的沉重主题,尤其是当他反思失去父亲和他作为战时难民的经历时。)”可知,因为Ocean
Vuong曾是战时难民,由此可知,Ocean
Vuong经历过战争。故选B。
【2题详解】

The
Caballero
family
from
Tempe,
Arizona
were
outside
on
their
regularly
scheduled
walk
with
their
dog
named
Olive
when
they
were
joined
by
a
tiny
baby
gray
fox.
Now,
apparently,
the
fox
mistook
Olive
for
her
mother
and
started
following
them
around
the
neighborhood.
The
fox
was
about
20
centimeters
in
length
and
had
a
gray
coat.
They
later
found
out
that
she
was
just
6
weeks
old
at
that
point.
The
tiny
fox
followed
them
home,
where
the
sprinklers
were
on
at
that
moment,
so
she
ran
to
have
a
drink,
which
is
when
Rosalyn
noticed
how
thirsty
she
was
as
she
couldn’t
stop
drinking.
Considering
that
the
fox
was
far
away
from
home
and
her
mother,
alone-something
that
is
not
typical
of
foxes,
the
family
decided
it
would
he
best
to
get
in
touch
with
Southwest
Wildlife
Conservation
Center
for
help.
They
found
a
box
and
captured
the
baby
fox
so
that

【解析】
【分析】这是一篇新闻报道。短文叙述了Caballero一家帮助一只小狐狸的故事。
【4题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段“The
Caballero
family
from
Tempe,
Arizona
were
outside
on
their
regularly
scheduled
walk
with
their
dog
named
Olive
when
they
were
joined
by
a
tiny
baby
gray
fox.
Now,
apparently,
the
fox
mistook
Olive
for
her
mother
and
started
following
them
around
the
neighborhood.”(来自亚利桑那州坦佩市的卡巴莱罗一家正和他们的爱犬奥利弗在户外散步,一只小灰狐加入了他们的行列。现在,很明显,狐狸把奥利弗误认为是她的母亲,开始在附近跟着他们。)由此可知,为什么小狐狸要跟着这家人是因为小狐狸以为家里的狗是她的妈妈。故选D项。
【5题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“Considering
that
the
fox
was
far
away
from
home
and
her
mother,
alone-something
that
is
not
typical
of
foxes,he
family
decided
it
would
he
best
to
get
in
touch
with
Southwest
Wildlife
Conservation
Center
for
help.”可知,鉴于这只小狐狸离家和她的母亲很远了,狐狸不是独居的动物,家人决定最好联系西南野生动物保护中心寻求帮助。由此可知,狐狸的典型特征是群居。故选A项。
【6题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段和第二段可知,Caballero一家偶遇小狐狸,并把她带回家。根据第三段“the
family
decided
it
would
he
best
to
get
in
touch
with
Southwest
Wildlife
Conservation
Center
for
help.”(家人决定最好联系西南野生动物保护中心寻求帮助。)以及第四段“They
found
a
box
and
captured
the
baby
fox
so
that
she
wouldn’t
wander
off
into
danger.
They
got
the
fox
inside
the
box
without
touching
her.”(他们发现了一个盒子,抓住了小狐狸,这样她就不会陷入危险。他们没碰狐狸就把它放进了盒子里)由此判断出,Caballero一家很善良并愿意提供帮助。故选B项。
【7题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段“They
are
hoping
to
bond
Foxy
with
some
of
the
other
foxed
that
came
to
the
center
recently
to
return
to
the
wild
once
they
are
strong
enough.”(他们希望Foxy能和其他一些最近来到中心的狐狸互相了解,一旦它们足够强壮,它们就会回到野外。)由此可见,当Foxy认识其他狐狸时就可以回归野外。故选D项。
C
People
in
Florida
recently
had
to
escape
from
flash
floods
after
two
feet
of
rain
fell
in
26
hours.
Heavy
rains
caused
a
hillside
to
break
down
and
bury
a
community
in
Washington
State
earlier
this
year.
Rainstorms
and
floods
attacked
Colorado
last
year,
and
sudden
floods
swept
Atlanta
in
2009,
and
Nashville
in
2010.
In
the
National
Climate
Assessment,
published
last
week,
researchers
in
the
United
States
reported
that
“large
increases
in
heavy
rains
have
occurred
in
the
Northeast,
Midwest
and
Great
Plains,
where
heavy
downpours
have
caused
caused
flooding
events
and
other
relevant
disasters”.
In
the
United
States
the
increase
in
water
vapor
has
been
on
the
order
of
3
percent
or
4
percent
since
the
1970s
when
most
of
the
human-caused
global
warming
has
occurred
since
then.
That
may
not
sound
like
a
big
jump,
but
the
effect
is
enormous.
Two
leading
scientists,
Kevin
E.
Trenberth
at
the
National
Center
for
Atmospheric
Research
and
David
R.
Easterling
at
the
National
Oceanic
and
Atmospheric
Administration,
ran
some
calculations
and
agreed
that
the
global
warming
has
on
average
put
more
than
a
trillion
gallons
(加仓)
of
extra
water
into
the
air
over
the
48
states,
probably
closer
to
two
trillion.
That
extra
water
has
to
fall
as
rain
or
snow
if
the
condition
is
suitable.
“It
rains
harder
than
it
used
to,”
said
Dr.
Trenberth,
who
could
not
resist
adding:
“When
it
rains,
it
pours.”
So
they
suggested
intensifying
standards
for
the
designs
of
dams,
and
hardening
roads
and
culverts
(涵洞)
against
the
possibility
of
more
flash
floods
Society
responded
by
ignoring
them.
For
someone
sitting
in
Pensacola,
Fla.
wondering
why
the
roads
were
washed
out
the
other
day
might
be
a
good
part
of
the
answer.
They
didn’t
want
to
face
the
truth.
The
warming
of
the
planet
has
slowed
in
recent
years,
but
scientists
think
that
is
likely
temporary.
They
expect
it
to
get
much,
much
warmer
as
this
century
progresses,
and
that
can
only
mean
that
the
rains
will
fall
harder
still.
8.
Why
did
the
author
mention
some
floods
in
the
first
paragraph?
A.
To
lead
to
the
topic.
B.
To
attract
young
readers.
C.
To
show
some
evidence.
D.
To
show
the
latest
events.
9.
What
is
the
main
idea
of
paragraph
3?
A.
The
condition
o
fain
or
snow.
B.
The
reason
of
the
rains
and
floods.
C.
The
only
effect
of
global
warming.
D.
The
exact
amount
of
water
in
the
air.
10.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“intensifying”
mean
in
paragraph
4?
A.
Changing.
B.
Adjusting.
C.
Strengthening.
D.
Decreasing.
11.
What
can
we
infer
about
the
climate
in
the
future?
A.
The
climate
will
be
better
soon.
B.
The
bad

will
disappear.
C.
The

D.
The

the
same.

【分析】这是一篇新闻报道。暴雨和洪水袭击美国的多个州,科学家们认为这是全球变暖所致。他们预计,随着本世纪的发展,气候会变得越来越暖和,而这只会意味着降雨会越来越多。
【8题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段中“Heavy

【9题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第三段中“Two

R.
Easterling进行了一些计算,并同意全球变暖平均使48个州的空气中增加了超过1万亿加仑的水,可能接近2万亿加仑。如果条件合适,多余的水必须以雨或雪的形式落下。)由此可知,第三段主要在说明降雨和洪水的原因。故选B项。
【10题详解】
词义猜测题。根据第四段“When
it
rains,
it
pours.”(一下就是倾盆大雨)和下文“So
they
suggested
intensifying
standards
for
the
designs
of
dams,

(涵洞)
against
the
possibility

【11题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中“They

Dancing
with
your

for
15
minutes
a

promotes
positive
feelings
and
improves
her

a
study
claims.
Doctors
from
Israel
are
urging
younger
family
members
to
have
a
regular
visit
to
their
grandmas
and
have
a
dance
with
their
grandmas.
And
they
found
a
15
minute
boogie
(布吉舞)
once
a
week
lifted
the
spirits
of
the
elder
family
members
and
helped
strengthen
the
familial
bond.
In
fact,
it
is
called
Dance
Movement
Therapy
(DMT).
DMT
across
the
generations,
complete
with
eye
contact,
was
found
to
promote
positive
feelings
and
improve
mood
for
the
elderly.
The
grandparents
reported
a
bright
state
of
mind,
happy
memories
and
uplifted
spirits.
Dancing
has
also
previously
been
linked
to
improved
muscle
strength,
balance
and
endurance
(耐).
For
the
grandchildren
in
the
study,
the
weekly
boogie
changed
how
they
view

of
their
elderly
relative.
The
study,
published
in
the

Frontiers
in
Psychology,
assessed
how
dance
affected
the
well-being
of
16
dance
movement
therapists
(治疗师)
and
their

Dance
movement
therapy
was
paid
attention
due
to
the
fact
that
it
is
easily
accessible
and
does
not
cost
more
to
practice.
The
researchers
were
eager
to
examine
a
low-cost
method
to
treat
issues
commonly
faced
by
an
ageing
population,
such
as
limited
mobility
and
depression.
Grandchildren
were
instructed
to
make
eye
contact
and
encourage
playfulness
and
touch.
They
were
also
told
to
mirror
their
grandmothers’
movements
and
give
them
time
and
space
to
rest
when
needed.
The
sessions
were
recorded
and
then
analysed
while
diaries
and
interviews
captured
the
opinions
and
feelings
of
the
participants.
As
well
as
the
benefits
to
the
health
of
the
senior,
the
experiment
also
changed
the
idea
of
the
younger
family
members.
12.

should
the
young
people
do
when
dancing
with
their

C.
Move
the
bodies
as
long
as
possible.
D.
Talk
with
their
grandmas
in
gentle

13.
What
can
we
infer
from
the
third
paragraph?
A.
The
young
should
dance
every
week.
B.
The
senior
were
happy
about
being

I
was
just

then,

my
big

me
there

to
my
Grandma
because
she

“Go

Grandma?”
I
asked.
“Where”

town
that

As
we
walked
through
its
doors,
Grandma
handed
me
ten
dollars.
“Take

she

The

seemed
big
and
crowded,
full
of
people
competing
to
finish
their
Christmas
shopping.
For
a
few
moments
I
just
stood
there,
confused,
holding
that

wondering
what

and

to

it
for.
I
suddenly
thought
of

messy
hair.
He
sat
right
behind
me
in
Mrs
Pollock's

class.
Bobby
Decker
didn't
have
a
coat.
I
knew
that
because
he
never
went
out
for
recess
during
the
winter.
His
mother
always
wrote
a
note,
telling
the
teacher
that
he
had
a
cough,
but
we
kids
knew
that
Bobby
Decker
didn't
have
a
cough,
and
he
didn't
have
a
coat.
I
would
buy
Bobby
Decker
a
coat!
I
settled
on
a
red
one,
which
looked
really
warm,
and
he
would
like
that.

this
a

present
for
someone?”
the
lady
behind
the
counter
asked
kindly,
as
I
laid
my
ten
dollars
down.

【详解】通过阅读所给文章可知,作者的姐姐告诉作者世界上没有圣诞老人,作者逃到奶奶那里想要听奶奶说实话,结果奶奶把作者带到一个商店,给了作者10美元,让作者给有需要的人买东西,于是作者给坐在自己后面的Bobby
Decker买了一件红色的外套。
续写部分分为两段,第一段开头是:那天晚上,奶奶帮我用圣诞包装纸把大衣包好。所以后文应该是讲述作者和奶奶如何去给Bobby
Decker送外套的经过。第二段开头是:奶奶和我屏息等待Bobby
Decker的前门打开,终于它打开了。本段应该写Bobby
Decker收到外套后的反应,以及这件事后作者的内心活动,作者为自己的所作所为感到非常自豪,决定永远做圣诞老人的帮手。
最后还要注意所续写短文的词数应为150左右。
