2、hardly 几乎不，简直不。含有否定含义的副词，修饰动词，通常放在动词的前面，也可放在整个句子的前面。
如：I hardly know what to say. 我简直不知道说什么好。
要注意与hard在意义上的区别：
如：Zhang works hard, Li works harder. Ma hardly works. Who works (the) hardest.
张工作努力，李工作更努力，马几乎不工作。谁工作最努力？
3、except, except for 和besides都有“除……之外”的意思。
1）except意为“从整体中出去一部分”，一般不放在句首。
如：The library opens every day except Sunday. 除了星期天，图书馆天天开放。
Everyone except Tom was tired. 人人都累，只有汤姆不累。
2）except for意为“把某一点除外”，通常除去的和提到并非同一类事物，可以放在句首。
如：Your composition is quite good except for some spelling mistakes.
除了有一些拼写错误，你的作文（写得）很好。
3）besides意为“除……之外还有”，相当于as well as
