Lucille
Clifton
was
the
first
African-American
poet
laureate
of
Maryland.Critics
call
her
one
of
the
greatest
writers
of
our
time.
Lucille
Clifton
was
born
in
Depew,New
York
in
1936.She
began
writing
poetry
when
she
was
about
ten
years
old.She
had
developed
an
interest
in
poetry
because
of
her
mother,Thelma
Sayles.Her
mother
was
also
a
poet
although
her
poems
were
never
published.As
a
child
Lucille
would
sit
on
her
mother’s
lap
and
listen
as
she
read
poetry.She
learned
to
love
words
and
the
power
of
words.That
stayed
with
her
as
she
grew.
While
her
mother
taught
her
to
love
poetry,her
father
gave
her
the
gift
of
storytelling.He
would
tell
Lucille
interesting
stories
about
her
ancestors,especially
the
one
named
Lucille
who
was
his
grandmother.Samuel
Clifton
said
she
was
the
first
black
woman
to
be
legally
hanged
in
the
state
of
Virginia.Lucille
Clifton
wrote
about
it
in
her
poem
called
“Lucy”.
Lucille
often
talked
about
her
love
for
words.She
loved
the
sound
of
words
and
the
way
the
words
felt
in
her
mouth.She
loved
finding
interesting
ways
to
use
words
to
express
what
was
happening
in
the
world.
Unlike
her
mother,Lucille
Clifton’s
poetry
is
anything
but
traditional.Her
poems
do
not
rhyme
or
follow
a
special
kind
of
pattern.They
do
not
use
fancy
words.Her
poetry
is
known
for
being
simple,truthful
and
direct.It
is
written
the
way
people
speak,in
a
casual
(随意的),relaxed
language.There
is
very
little
punctuation
and
even
less
capitalization.Many
of
the
poems
are
uncomfortably
honest.Lucille
Clifton
often
said
that
she
tried
to
comfort
the
afflicted(折磨)
and
afflict
the
comfortable.Over
the
years,she
seems
to
have
perfected
that
art.
24.What
can
be
learned
from
the
passage?
A.Lucille’s
parents
influenced
her
a
lot.
B.Lucille’s
father
often
read
poems
to
her.
C.Lucille’s
mother
published
some
poems.
D.Lucille’s
parents
taught
her
to
love
words.
25.What
is
the
last
paragraph
mainly
about?
A.Lucille’s
great
works.
B.Words
that
Lucille
used.
C.Lucille’s
writing
style.
D.Background
of
Lucille’s
poems.
26.From
the
passage,we
know
that
Lucille
is
   .?
A.funny
B.creative
C.selfish
D.beautiful
27.Which
of
the
following
is
TRUE?
A.Lucille
Clifton
was
the
first
African-American
poet
laureate
of
America.
B.Lucille
Clifton
was
born
in
Africa.
C.Lucille
Clifton
began
writing
poetry
from
about
1956.
D.Unlike
Lucille
Clifton,her
mother’s
poetry
is
traditional.
C
A
poem
is
defined
as
a
composition
written
in
verse.Poems
rely
heavily
on
imagery,precise
word
choice,and
metaphor(隐喻),and
may
take
either
the
form
of
measures
consisting
of
patterns
of
stresses
or
of
patterns
of
syllables
with
different
lengths.But
they
don’t
necessarily
make
use
of
rhyme.Poetry
appears
earlier
than
other
forms
of
literature;however
one
cannot
readily
tell
the
characteristics
of
early
poetry.Typically,as
a
form
of
literature,poetry
makes
great
use
of
the
forms
of
the
words
it
uses.That
is
to
say,it
focuses
on
the
features
of
the
written
or
spoken
word,rather
than
on
their
meaning.
The
play,or
drama,is
another
classical
literary
form
that
has
continued
to
develop
over
the
years.It
generally
consists
chiefly
of
a
dialogue
between
characters
and
is
usually
for
theatrical
performances
rather
than
for
reading.During
the
eighteenth
and
nineteenth
centuries,opera
developed
as
a
combination
of
poetry,drama,and
music.
An
essay
consists
of
a
discussion
of
a
topic
from
an
author’s
personal
point
of
view.The
word
“essay”
in
English
is
from
the
French
word
meaning
“attempt”.In
this
sense,it
could
be
said
to
mean
the
author’s
attempt
to
make
others
accept
their
view.
Prose
consists
of
writing
that
does
not
stick
to
any
particular
formal
structures.Prose
writing
can
take
beautiful
forms,but
not
because
of
the
forms
of
words
it
uses.
A
novel
consists
simply
of
a
long
story
written
in
prose,yet
this
form
has
only
developed
comparatively
recently.Early
novels
in
Europe
did
not,at
the
time,count
as
significant
literature,perhaps
because
“mere”
prose
writing
seemed
easy
and
unimportant.It
has
become
clear,however,that
prose
writing
can
provide
pleasure
to
those
readers
even
though
it
doesn’t
stick
to
poetic
forms.
28.What
does
the
passage
mainly
deal
with?
A.The
writing
of
poems.
B.Different
forms
of
literature.
C.Combination
of
poetry,drama,and
music.
D.Differences
between
novels
and
poems.
29.Which
of
the
following
is
most
likely
the
earliest
form
of
literature?
A.Poetry.
B.The
opera.
C.Prose.
D.The
novel.
30.Unlike
the
other
forms
of
literature,a
play
seeks
to
   .?
A.provide
imagery
and
precise
word
choice
B.provide
theatrical
performance
rather
than
reading
purpose
C.express
the
author’s
personal
point
of
view
D.distinguish
itself
from
factual
writing
31.Different
from
the
other
forms
of
literature,prose
   .?
A.develops
as
a
combination
of
poetry,drama,and
music
B.takes
beautiful
forms
but
not
because
of
the
forms
of
the
words
it
uses
C.was
not
regarded
as
significant
literature
in
early
Europe
D.consists
of
patterns
of
stresses
or
of
patterns
of
syllables
with
different
lengths
D

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Once,a
man
was
walking
on
a
mountain
when
he
found
an
incredible
cave.Stored
inside
were
all
kinds
of
treasures
and
precious
stones,and
when
he
saw
it,the
man
concealed
the
cave
entrance
and
stayed
there,guarding
it.
From
that
day
on,the
man
would
hide
all
his
valuables
in
the
cave,and
to
avoid
anyone
suspecting
he
was
rich,he
gave
up
his
job,his
home,and
his
friends.He
constantly
watched
the
approaches
to
his
cave,wanting
no
one
to
find
out
about
it,and
fearing
thieves,and
he
guarded
the
cave
the
whole
night
through.
He
was
so
dedicated
to
the
cave
that
he
hardly
ate
or
drank.Before
long,he
fell
ill.Many
days
passed,and
he
got
thinner
and
sicker,losing
all
his
strength,until
he
was
on
the
point
of
dying.One
day,when
he
could
hardly
move
at
all,he
realised
that
it
was
his
greed
which
had
brought
him
to
this
extreme
end.He
now
understood
that
guarding
his
treasure
had
been
of
no
use
and
no
good
whatsoever.Just
before
he
died,he
decided
to
share
it
with
others.
He
crawled
into
the
cave
to
get
a
handful
of
jewels,but
discovered,to
his
horror,that
the
cave
was
almost
empty.All
he
could
find
was
a
small
emerald,which
had
only
a
dull
sheen
to
it.The
man
took
it,and
left
the
cave,intending
to
give
it
to
the
first
person
to
come
by.Soon
a
woman
approached,and
she
accepted
the
emerald
with
great
joy.
“Are
you
sure
there’s
nothing
else?”
replied
the
woman.The
man
shook
his
head,and
pointed
to
the
cave.Now
he
could
see
that
there
were,indeed,some
treasures
still
there;he
saw
some
gold
coins.“Take
them
with
you,”
he
said.The
woman
took
both
the
emerald
and
the
coins,and
went
away
happily.
In
a
while,an
old
man
came
by
and
asked
the
man
what
he
was
doing
there.“What
bad
luck!Just
a
moment
ago
I
gave
a
woman
the
few
riches
left
from
the
fabulous
hoard
of
treasure
I
was
guarding.”

might

you

my

I’ve
already
promised

W:Have
you
heard
that
the
boss
of
the
law
office
where
Rick
works
wants
him
to
fly
to
Brazil
and
do
a
month’s
work
there?
M:That’s
nice.He
will
love
it
because
everything
will
be
paid
for,such
as
air
travel,meals,hotel...and
this
is
his
first
time
to
get
out
of
the
States.
W:Indeed.You
won’t
believe
how
much
he
is
looking
forward
to
it,and
how
much
his
little
sister
admires
him!He’s
going
to
enjoy
lying
on
the
beaches
when
work
is
done,and
he
promised
to
buy
his
sister
gifts.
M:Who
else
is
going
besides
him?
W:He’s
going
alone.
M:When
will
he
be
leaving?
W:He
was
told
about
it
three
days
ago,and
I
think
he’ll
leave
in
a
week.
(Text8)
W:Are
you
listening
to
the
radio,Ted?
M:No.I
don’t
have
a
radio.I’m
watching
a
movie
on
TV.
W:What
is
it
about?
M:It’s
about
a
mother.She
loses
her
husband
only
three
years
after
they
get
married.She
has
to
raise
her
son
alone.
W:It
must
be
a
moving
story.
M:Yes,it
is.So
what’s
up,Helen?
W:I’m
calling
to
ask
if
you
have
time
this
afternoon.Mike
and
I
are
going
swimming.Do
you
want
to
go
with
us?
M:I’d
like
to,but
my
cousin
is
coming.I
must
stay
at
home
and
spend
some
time
with
him.
W:Does
he
like
swimming?
M:Yes,he
does.
W:That’s
great.Why
not
ask
him
whether
he’ll
go
with
us?It
will
be
fun.
M:OK.I’ll
give
him
a
call.If
he
goes,I
will
too.
(Text9)
W:Did
you
see
this
report?I
found
that
the
way
people
spend
their
vacations
has
changed
a
great
deal
in
the
past
ten
years.
M:Yes,I
saw
that.I
thought
it
was
interesting
that
ten
years
ago
90%
of
people
spent
their
vacations
at
home,but
today
that
figure
has
dropped
by
40%.
W:I
guess
that
people
are
becoming
more
and
more
mobile.Most
of
us
want
to
find
entertainment
in
the
outside
world.After
all,people
have
more
money
to
spend
than
they
used
to.
M:Where
do
you
think
most
people
like
to
spend
their
vacations
now?
W:Oh,the
seaside,of
course.No
one
prefers
big
cities
any
more.
M:Yeah,that’s
true,though
it
seems
to
me
that
the
rate
of
people
going
to
the
seaside
has
dropped,even
though
people
still
love
to
go
there.
W:Well,I’ve
heard
that
camping
is
becoming
more
and
more
popular.I
guess
people
are
now
heading
to
the
mountains
to
relax.
M:I
suppose
we
city
folk
are
finding
the
real
beauty
of
nature
again.People
are
getting
more
adventurous,wanting
to
get
close
to
nature.
(Text10)
M:Hello.I’m
Callum
Robertson.In
the
program
today,let
me
ask
you
a
question
first:What
do
you
think
would
be
the
hardest
job
in
Britain?A
police
officer?Perhaps
a
deep-sea
fisherman?Well,no,according
to
recent
research,being
a
London
taxi
driver
takes
that
prize.It’s
really
a
hard
job,really
difficult.One
reason
is
the
traffic.It’s
getting
worse
and
worse
in
London.For
most
of
us,if
we
have
to
sit
in
a
traffic
jam
for
a
few
minutes,we
get
anxious.But
imagine
if
you
had
to
do
that
all
day,every
day
as
your
job.What’s
more,passengers
are
in
a
hurry,and
that
makes
things
worse
for
the
drivers.To
prepare
for
the
test,would-be
drivers
have
to
remember
ways
and
places
of
interest
around
Central
London.It
seems
as
if
learning
all
the
streets
and
ways
makes
a
part
of
the
brain
grow.Well,anyway,this
is
a
most
tiring
job.Next
time
you’re
stuck
in
a
traffic
jam
and
feel
mad,spare
a
thought
for
the
taxi
drivers,who
have
to
spend
most
of
their
working
life
in
them.

【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了提高英语写作水平的几个基本步骤。
36.E 根据段落上下文和整个文章可知,本选项用于点明本文主题——提高英语写作水平,E项“在进行恰当的练习和训练后,你就可以提高你的英语写作水平”符合语境。
37.C 根据下文“Consultthemtolearntherulesofcorrectpunctuationandcapitalization.”可知,them应指代选项中的相关学习资料。C项“手头边放一本好词典或英语手册(以便查寻拼写和标点)”符合语境。下文中的“them”是对选项中词典或英语手册的指代。
38.F 本选项是对前一句中所提到的正确语法和句子结构作举例说明,F项可承接上文。
39.A 由下文中的说明及重现的关键信息词“paragraph”可知,本段的主旨是学习写好有表现力的段落,故选A项。
40.G 根据下文的“Ifyoupracticewritingregularlyinclassandgetinstantfeedback,...”可知,G项与下文是两个并列的条件句,假设在两种情形下都要得到对写作的反馈。
【语篇解读】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述的是作者跟同事在饭店吃饭的时候,因为浪费了食物而被罚款的故事。作者从中认识到,食物是社会的共同资源,我们不应当浪费。
41.D 根据后文的“Wenoticedafewcustomersincludingseveraloldladies,werehavingtheirmeal.”可知,有几个客人在吃饭,所以是在饭店(restaurant)里。
42.C serveadish
是常用搭配,意为“上菜”。
43.C 根据下文的“everybit”可知,此处意为他们会吃掉(finish)盘子里的每一点食物。

45.D spendtimedoingsth意为“花费时间做某事”。此处指作者他们吃饭没有花费(spend)很多时间。
46.A 结合上下文可知,作者一行人吃饭是比较匆忙的,所以当作者要离开的时候,还剩下三分之一没吃光的(unconsumed)食物。
47.B 根据下文的“callingus”可知,此处是作者听到(heard)别人在叫他们。
48.A 根据后面的“wastingsomuchfood”可知,她们叫住作者一行人是对他们浪费食物的行为感到不高兴(unhappy)。
49.B 根据句意可知,此处意为“我们花钱买了(paid)我们的食物,我们剩多少食物跟你们没关系”。
50.C noneofyourbusiness意为“不关你的事”,是固定搭配。
51.C 根据常识可知,警察一般穿的都是制服(uniform)。
52.D 根据句意可知,该空前后文形成了逻辑上的转折关系。句意:钱是你们的,但是(but)资源是属于社会的。你们没有任何理由浪费资源。
53.D havenoreasonfordoingsth为固定搭配,意为“没有理由做某事”。
54.C 根据句意可知,因为作者他们都没有说话,所以此处意为“我们在心里(hearts)都赞同他的话”。
55.D 根据上文可知,作者他们心里赞同警官的话,所以作者的同事一直向他道歉(apologised)。
【语篇解读】本文是一篇议论文。研究表明,用母语教学比用其他语言教学更能让孩子学得多。短文阐述了儿童教学宜采用母语,而非英语。
56.their 考查代词。此处修饰名词children,故用其形容词性物主代词形式,故填their。
57.which 考查非限制性定语从句。
分析句子结构可知,此处引导非限制性定语从句,修饰前面整个句子,故填which。
58.tocontrol 考查非谓语动词。根据句意可知,此处用动词不定式表示目的,故填tocontrol。
59.Teaching 考查非谓语动词。此处作主语,指用英语教孩子这件事,故用其动词-ing形式,故填Teaching。
60.in 考查介词。befluentin...表示“在……方面流利”,故填in。
61.schools 考查名词复数。根据句意可知,此处用复数形式,且school一词为可数名词,故填schools。
62.when 考查连词。分析句子结构可知,此处引导状语从句,表示时间,故填when。
63.did 考查动词时态。根据设空处前的lastmonth可知,设空处需用一般过去时,故填did。
64.necessarily 考查副词。necessarily为副词修饰整个句子。notnecessarily
表示“未必,不一定”。
65.losing 考查非谓语动词。设空处在介词of
后,故用动词-ing形式作宾语。
写作
第一节
Dear
Wendy,
I’m
so
glad
to
receive
your
letter.And
it
is
really
a
coincidence
that
you
asked
me
about
the
Tang
poems,and
I
just
have
learnt
something
about
them.
The
Tang
poems
are
various
in
forms
and
subjects.Generally
speaking,they
can
be
divided
into
two
groups—classical
poems
and
modern
poems.Not
only
the
length
of
a
line
but
also
the
length
of
a
poem
is
limited
to
a
certain
number
of
words.There
are
often
four
or
eight
or
twelve
lines
with
five
or
seven
words
in
each
line.Poets
wrote
poems
for
different
purposes,for
example,exposing
the
darkness
of
the
society
and
describing
the
beautiful
scenes.
There
were
many
famous
poets
during
the
Tang
Dynasty,such
as
Li
Bai,Du
Fu
and
Bai
Juyi.If
you
want
to
read
more,the
book
300TangPoems
is
a
good
choice,which
includes
poems
of
many
well-known
poets.After
reading
them,you
will
have
a
better
understanding
of
the
Tang
poems.
Yours
sincerely,
Li

第二节
“Areyousurethereisnothingleft?”theoldmanaskedhim.The
man
led
him
into
the
cave,where
to
their
surprise,there
was
a
box
full
of
treasures
and
precious
stones.“What?Why?”
the
man
was
shocked.“Congratulations!Young
man,”
the
old
man
said.“You
see,this
is
a
treasure
cave.You
are
the
first
to
pass
its
test.Many
others
who
had
discovered
the
valuables
ended
up
realising
there
was
nothing
here.”
“Andwhydoesthishappen?”saidtheman.“Whydothesetreasuresappearanddisappear?”“My
son.This
magic
cave
has
as
many
riches
as
your
own
heart
does.When
somebody
discovers
the
cave,it
fills
with
the
jewels
they
bring
with
them.However,if
they
devote
themselves
to
guarding
the
treasure,their
hearts
began
emptying.So
does
the
cave.The
only
way
to
fill
it
is
by
filling
your
heart
with
all
that
is
good,as
you
did.”
So
it
is
better
to
share
them
than
keep
things
to
yourself.
