The
city
of
Richmond
announced
that
Roscoe
Burnems
would
become
the
city's
first
poet
laureate(桂冠诗人),
a
poet
recognized
for
achievements
in
poetry.
During
his
two-year
term
as
a
poet
laureate,
Burnems
is
responsible
for
being
a
poetry
advocate
by
providing
access
to
poetry
throughout
the
city
and
offering
opportunities
to
use
the
power
of
words
to
heal
wounds,
open
hearts
and
minds,
and
bring
people
closer
together.
He
has
the
freedom
to
create
and
develop
his
own
projects
during
his
term
and
will
receive
a
$4,000
annual
bonus.
Burnems'
love
of
poetry
began
at
an
early
age
when
he
was
struggling
against
depression.
His
English
teacher
recommended
him
to
read
poetry,
which
later
brought
him
a
peaceful
mental
state
and
helped
him
recover
from
depression.
He
soon
decided
that
poetry
was
something
he
would
run
after
for
his
lifetime.
“People
gravitate
to
poetry
because
they
can
find
themselves
in
the
poems,”
he
says.
“It
allows
readers
to
feel
the
emotional
part
of
our
experiences.”
He
says
poetry
is
a
great
platform
to
discuss
mental
health,
depression
and
the
emotional
stresses
that
come
with
daily
life.
Relieving
those
stresses
is
central
to
some
of
the
work
he
does
with
young
people.
Last
year,
Burnems
started
a
youth
poetry
producing
competition
for
local
high
school
students.
Burnems
says
he
loves
and
supports
different
types
of
art,
and
his
next
move
is
to
explore
poetry
through
cooperation
across
media.
Richmond's
paintings
on
the
wall
are
a
good
example.
He
says,
“Richmond
is
getting
known
for
these
beautiful
paintings
on
display
across
the
city,
and
I
want
to
add
a
literary
component
to
that.”
24.
What
is
Burnems'
responsibility
as
a
poet
laureate?
A.
Creating
more
good
poems.
B.
Developing
his
own
projects.
C.
Spreading
the
power
of
poetry.
D.
Bringing
poetry
lovers
together.
25.
Why
did
Burnems
develop
a
great
passion
for
poetry?
A.
Poetry
made
him
more
confident.
B.
Poetry
helped
him
through
a
tough
time.
C.
He
was
influenced
by
his
English
teacher.
D.
He
viewed
writing
poems
as
a
lifelong
career.
26.
What
does
the
underlined
phrase
“gravitate
to”
in
Paragraph
3
probably
mean?
A.
take
pride
in.
B.
be
used
to.
C.
break
away
from.
D.
be
attracted
by.
27.
What
is
Burnems
going
to
do
in
the
near
future?
A.
To
shift
his
focus
to
paintings.
B.
To
combine
poetry
with
other
arts.
C.
To
hold
more
poetry
competitions.
D.
To
help
youth
with

As
aging
population
gets
bigger
and
dementia(老年痴呆症)
more
common,
more
families
are
struggling
with
a
complex
question:
How
do
you
support
a
love
done
with
dementia,
especially
when
you
have
a
full-time
job
and
several
kids?
Reg
Urbanowski
may
have
an
answer
to
this
pressing
issue:
ROBOTS.
He
and
his
team
managed
to
develop
a
new
type
of
robots
named
TP
robots.
Looking
like
stand-up
vacuum
cleaners
attached
to
an
iPad,
they
can
be
activated
remotely
via
a
smartphone
and
guided
remotely
by
a
controller
app
similar
to
the
way
a
mouse
is
used
on
a
desktop
computer.
All
possess
audio
and
visual
communication
capabilities,
allowing
the
operator
to
be
“in
the
room”
to
interact
with
Mom
or
Dad.
He
believes
that
caregivers
and
family
members
can
use
a
TP
robot
to
“look
in”
on
people
with
mild
dementia.
He
says,
“TP
robots
provide
an
effective
solution
for
minimizing
caregiver
burden,
especially
for
those
who
have
career
or
other
out-of-home
activities.”
Urbanowski
and
his
team
have
conducted
a
study
that
involves
providing
TP
robots
for
15
Toronto
families.
These
robots
are
programmed
to
provide
reminders
of
necessary
daily
routine
like
turning
off
the
gas,
taking
medicine
and
having
dinner.
They
will
also
help
ensure
patients
are
getting
the
exercise
they
need
to
maintain
their
health
and
well-being.
Erin
Crawford,
Program
Director
with
the
Alzheimer
Society
of
Manitoba,
says
she
has
faith
that
TP
robots
will
prove
beneficial,
particularly
when
it
comes
to
reminding
people
with
dementia
to
do
certain
things
at
certain
times.
“It
means
that
family
members
that
can't
be
there,
for
whatever
reason,
know
that
those
things
are
till
happening,”
she
says.
28.
What
can
we
infer
about
TP
robots
from
Paragraph
3?
A.
It's
easy
to
operate.
B.
It
can
clean
the
room.
C.
It's
convenient
to
carry.
D.
It
can
be
used
on
a
computer.
29.
How
will
TP
robots
help
those
with
dementia?
A.
By
having
dinner
with
them.
B.
By
turning
off
the
gas
for
them.
C.
By
doing
activities
with
them.
D.
By
reminding
them
to
take
pills.
30.
What's
Erin
Crawford's
attitude
to
the
future
of
TP
robots?
A.
Optimistic.
B.
Cautious.

Critical.
31.
What
is
the
main
idea
of
the

A.
TP
robots
provide
a
new
solution
to

B.TP
robots
help
to
take
care
of
dementia
patients.
C.
Caregivers
of
dementia
will
be
replaced
by
TP

Urbanowski
and
his

Chinese
President
Xi
Jinping
announced
on
July
31
that
China's
BeiDou
Navigation
Satellite
System(北斗卫星导航系统)(BDS)
has
been
completed
and
has
started
providing
fill-scale
global
services
that
day.
In
the
1990s,
Chinese
government
approved
and
began
research
and
development
of
a
space-based
navigation
and
positioning
system
aimed
at
casing
the
country's
heavy
dependence
on
foreign
networks.
The
system
is
called
“BeiDou”.
The
government
has
planned
a
three-step
strategy
for
developing
the
BDS.
The
construction
of
BDS-1,
the
first
step
of
the
strategy,
started
in
1994
and
was
completed
in
2000.The
BDS-2
system
started
construction
in
2004.
By
2012,
a
total
of
14
satellites
had
been
launched
to
complete
the
deployment部署).
In
November2017.China
launched
the
first
two
satellites
for
the
BDS-3
system,
which
started
construction
in
2009,
and
officially
expanded
its
regional
navigation
system
into
a
global
network.
In
late
June,
the
final
satellite
to
complete
BeiDou's
third-generation
network
was
lifted
by
a
Long
March
3B
carrier
rocket.
After
in-orbit
tests
over
the
past
month,
the
satellite
recently
started
its
formal
operations.
Since
2000,
59
BeiDou
satellites,
including
the
first
four
experimental
ones,
have
been
launched
from
Xichang
on
44
Long
March
3-series
rockets,
with
some
of
them
having
retired.
BeiDou
began
providing
services
for
civilian
users
in
China
and
other
parts
of
the
Asia-Pacific
region
in
December
2012.At
the
end
of
2018,
it
started
providing
basic
global
services.
BeiDou
offers
accurate
positioning,
navigation
and
timing,
as
well
as
short
message
communication
without
the
support
of
a
mobile
network.
The
BDS
system
has
helped
the
country
fight
against
floods,
assisting
in
deformation
monitoring,
early
warning
and
resident
transfer.
The
services
are
used
in
various
fields.
It
offers
an
alternative
to
Russia's
GLONASS
and
the
European
Union's
Galileo
system,
as
well
as
the
United
States'
GPS.
The
operating
of
BeiDou's
full-scale
global
services
is
a
significant
milestone
in
China's
efforts
to
boost
science
and
technology
and
strengthen
its
space
industry.
The
move
is
a
major
contribution
to
the
global
public-service
infrastructure
(基础设施)
as
well
as
a
remarkable
strategic
achievement
of
socialism
with
Chinese
characteristics
in
the
new
era.

make
these
pancakes
even
better
next
time?”
and
then

Did
those
ingredients
make
the
pancakes
better?
What
could
we
try
next

Creativity
True
creativity
is
the
ability
to
take
something
existing
and
create
something
new
from
it.
38
There
are
a
dozen
different
things
you
can
do
with
them.
Experimenting
with
materials
to
create
something
new
can
go
a
long
way
in
helping
them
develop
their
creativity.
Personal
skills
Understanding
how
others
feel
can
be
a
challenge
for
kids.
We
know
what's
going
on
inside
our
own
head,
but
what
about
others?
Being
able
to
read
people
helps
kid
from
misreading
a
situation
and
jumping
to
false
conclusions.
39
“Why
do
you
think
she's
crying?”
“Can
you
tell
how
that
man
is
feeling
by
looking
at
his
face?”
“If
someone
were
to
do
that
to
you,
how
would
you
feel?”
Self-expression
40
There
are
many
ways
to
express
thoughts
and
ideas—music,
acting,
drawing,
building.
photography.
You
may
find
that
your
child
is
attracted
by
one
more
than
another.
A.
Encourage
kids
to
cook
with
you.
B.
And
we
can't
forget
science
education.
C.
we
can
give
kids
chances
to
think
about
materials
in
new
ways.
D.
We
can
do
this
in
real
life
or
ask
questions
about
characters
in
stories.
E.
Gardening
is
another
great
activity
for
helping
kids

F.
So
how
can
we
help
our
kids
prepare
for
jobs
that

in

I'm

I
feel
I

Above

I’m
a
fluent

Besides,

Equally

All

You

about
the

before

Find-out
what
they
do,
what
their
business
concept
is,

thing.
You
should
also
anticipate
possible
questions,
and
think
about
how

W:
Should
I

No,
definitely

You

what
should
I

I

In

That's

there

W:
Oh,
good

Um,
I'm

M:
Milton,
did
you
say?
Let
me
see.
I
think
that's
about
150
miles
south-west
of
here.
In
fact
it's
147
miles
to
be
exact,
so
it’ll
rake
you
at
least—say,
three
to
four
hours
by
road.
W:
Wow!
Is
it
as
far
as
that?
M:
Yes,
I'm
afraid
so.
But
you
have
a
number
of
options
to
get
you
there
and
you
can
always
rent
a
car
right
here
at
the
airport,
of

W:
Right.
Well,
I
don't
really
want
to
drive
myself,
so
I'd
like
more
information
about
public
transport.
M:
OK.
In
that
case
the
quickest
and
most
comfortable
is
a
taxi:
But
it'll
cost
you.
You
can
also
take
a
Greyhound
bus
to
Milton.
W:
Hmmm,
I
think
for
that
kind
of
distance
a
taxi
would
be
way
beyond
my
budget.
But
the
bus
sounds
OK.
Can
you
tell
me
how
much
that
would
cost?
M:
Sure.
Let's
see,
that
would
be
$15
one
way,
or
$27.50
return...
that's
on
the
Greyhound.

Oh,
that's
quite
cheap.

in
a
while,
a
rare
or
even
“hidden”
item

one
that
does
not
appear
in
advertisements
for
the
range

will
emerge
from
the
box,
which
raises
a
storm
of
collection.
?Wang
Ke,
a
big
fan
of
toy
collectors,
has
in
the
past,
queued
overnight
for
new
releases.
She
said
buying
blind
boxes
was
mainly
for
a
sense
of
mystery
and
an
uncertain
surprise.
Many
young
people
think
blind
boxes
can
comfort
their
heart,
relieving
the
pressure
from
work
and
life,
which
brings
a
boom
in
the
blind
box
market.
But
it
has
not
escaped
criticism,
with
state
media
comparing
the
trend
to
gambling
and
warning
of
addicting.
?OK.
That's
all
for
today.
Thanks
for
listening.
