For
several
months,
Cara
has
been
working
up
the
courage
to
talk
to
her
mom
about
what
she
saw
on
Instagram.
Not
long
ago,
the
11-year-old
girl
discovered
that
her
mom
had
been
posting
her
photos
for
much
of
her
life.
“It’s
strange
to
see
myself
up
there,
and
sometimes
there
are
pictures
I
don’t
like
of
myself,”
she
said.
Like
most
other
modern
kids,
Cara
grew
up
under
the
influence
of
social
media.
Facebook,
Twitter,
and
YouTube
were
all
founded
before
she
was
born.
Instagram
has
existed
since
she
was
a
toddler.
Although
many
kids
may
not
yet
have
accounts
themselves,
their
parents,
schools,
sports
teams
have
been
organizing
an
online
one
for
them
since
birth.
It
is
a
shock
to
know
that
details
about
their
lives
have
been
shared
online
without
their
permission
or
knowledge.
And
this
has
become
a
common
experience
for
many
teenagers.
Recently
a
parenting
blogger
said
that
despite
her
14-year-old
daughter’s
horror
at
discovering
that
her
mother
had
shared
years
of
highly
personal
information
about
her
online,
she
simply
could
not
stop
doing
it.
But
it’s
not
just
crazy
mommy
bloggers
who
share
their
children’s
information
on
social
media.
Plenty
of
average
parents
do
the
same.
There’s
even
a
special
word
for
it:
sharenting.
Almost
a
quarter
of
children
begin
their
digital
lives
when
parents
upload
their
prenatal
sonogram
scans
(产前超声波扫描)
to
the
Internet,
according
to
a
study
conducted
by
the
Internet-security
company
AVG.
The
study
also
found
that
92
percent
of
kids
under
the
age
of
2
already
have
their
own
unique
online
identity.
24.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“toddler”
in
the
second
paragraph
probably
mean?
A.
Teenage
girl.
B.
Very
young
child.
C.
Elementary
school
student.
D.
High
school
student.
25.
What’s
Cara’s
attitude
towards
her
mom’s
posting?
A.
supportive
B.
doubtful
C.
disapproving
D.
uninterested
26.
What
can
we
infer
from
Paragraph
4?
A.
AVG
is
the
name
of
an
Internet
company.
B.
About
25%
of
children
begin
their
digital
lives
before
they
are
born.
C.
Fathers
don’t
like
to
share
their
kids’
information
on
social
media.
D.
Average
parents
created
the
word
“sharenting”
on
the
Internet
recently.
27.
What
can
be
a
suitable
title
for
the
article?
A.
Growing
up
on
the
Internet
B.
A
New
Word
Born
C.
Parents

D.

Children’s

C
Something
happens
to
many
children
when
they
are
out
of
school
over
the
summer
months.
It
is
called
"the
summer
slide".
It
is
when
children
forget
much
of
what
they
learned
during
the
latest
school
year.
To
fight
its
effects,
students
have
to
do
much
homework
over
the
summer
and
parents
may
send
children
to
camp
or
find
other
activities
to
keep
them
learning.
However,
experts
say
keeping
children
busy
all
the
time
is
not
good
for
them.
Lea
Waters
,
an
expert
on
human
behavior,
says
slowing
down
actually
helps
children
become
the
best
they
can
be.
"It's
a
little
bit
like,
if
you
have
too
many
programs
running
on
your
computer,
your
computer
starts
to
slow
down.
When
you
shut
down
those
programs,
your
computer
speed
up
again.”
Machines
needed
to
be
reset,
while
kids
need
to
goof
off.
"What
I
mean
by
goofing
off
is
really
allowing
kids
to
have
some
downtime,
where
they’re
not
focused
on
a
specific
task,
they
just
do
what
they’re
interested
in."
She
adds,
"It
not
just
decides
what
information
to
put
into
memory
or
get
rid
of.
It's
also
an
essential
network
to
develop
emotional
intelligence,
to
improve
the
memory.”
Parents
often
mean
well
by
wanting
to
keep
their
child
busy.
But
the
result
is
often
a
tired
child
with
an
overcrowded
schedule,
which
means
the
opposite
effect
the
parents
are
hoping
for.
"
If
you're
constantly
on
task,
in
the
end
it
doesn't
help
to
build
up
strength
as
effectively
as
you
might
think.”
Lea
Waters
says
she
hopes
parents
will
accept
the
fact
that
children
don'
t
have
to
be
busy
all
the
time.
Who
might
be
the
intended
readers
of
this
passage?
A.
Children.
B.
Parents.
C.
Teachers.
D.
Researchers.
29.
What
do
the
underlined
words

goof
off

in
Paragragh
4
probably
mean?
A.
Have
free
time.
B.
Go
around.
C.
Hold
on.
D.
Speed
up.
30
.According
to
Lea
Waters,
what
are
students
advised
to
do
during
“the
summer
slide”?
A.
Doing
what
interests
them.
B.
Going
sightseeing
for
relaxation.
C.
Focusing
on
a
specific
learning
task.
D.
Helping
with
housework.
31.
What
does
Lea
Waters
think
of
parents
keeping
children
busy
over
the
summer?
A.
It
is
a
good
way
to
fight
summer
slide
effect.
B.
It
will
help
their
children
to
focus
on
a
specific
task.
C.
It
develops
their
children’s
emotional
intelligence.
D.
It
will
not
work
out
effectively
as
expected.
D
One
form
of
social
prejudice
against
older
people
is
the
belief
that
they
cannot
understand
or
use
modern
technology.
Activities
like
playing
computer
games,
going
on
the
Net
and
downloading
MP3s
are
only
for
the
youngsters.
Isn’t
it
unfair
that
older
people
enjoying
a
computer
game
should
be
frowned
upon
by
their
children
and
grandchildren?
Nowadays
older
people
have
more
control
over
their
lives
and
they
play
a
full
part
in
society.
Moreover,
better
health
care
has
left
more
people
in
their
sixties
and
seventies
feeling
fit
and
active
after
retirement.
Mental
activity,
as
well
as
physical
exercise,
can
contribute
to
better
health.
Playing
computer
games
is
a
very
effective
way
of
exercising
the
brain.
When
personal
computers
were
first
introduced,
most
older
people
didn’t
believe
they
would
ever
familiarize
themselves
with
it.
Now
computers
have
been
around
for
a
few
generations
and
retired
people
have
gradually
become
more
relaxed
about
using
them
for
fun.
Gamers
over
65
prefer
playing
puzzle
games
and
card
games.
Kate
Stevens,
aged
72,
says:
“I
find
it
very
relaxing.
It’s
not
very
demanding,
but
you
still
need
to
concentrate.”
Another
development
that
has
favored
“grey
games”
is
a
change
in
the
type
of
videogames
available
on
the
market.
There’s
a
greater
variety
of
games
to
choose
from,
including
more
intellectual
and
complex
strategy
and
simulation
games.
Internet
Chess
and
Train
Simulator
are
among
the
most
popular
of
these.
Train
Simulator
is
based
on
real-world
rail
activities.
Players
can
choose
from
a
variety
of
challengers,
such
as
keeping
to
a
strict-timetable
and
using
helper
engines
during
a
winter
storm.
Some
people
argue
that
“grey
gamers”
simply
don’t
have
the
skills
required
for
computer
games,
and
that
teenagers
are
better.
This
couldn’t
be
further
from
the
truth.
Most
computer
games
require
the
kind
of
analytical
thinking
that
improves
with
practice,
which
means
that
the
“grey
gamers”may
well
be
far
better
than
gamers
half
a
century
younger
than
them.
In
games
where
speed
is
the
main
consideration,
older
people
would
be
at
a
disadvantage
because
they
may
have
slower
reaction
time.
On
the
other
hand,
“grey
gamers”
have
a
preference
for
shower
paced,
mind
challenging
games.

C.

D.

How
to
Love
Your
Parents
Even
if
you
think
that
your
parents
are
mean-spirited
at
times,
loving
your
parents
is
a
normal
and
fulfilling
part
of
life.
You
love
them
for
the
fact
that
they
created
you,
raised
you,
and
are
in
part,
a
source
of
who
you
are.
Here
are
some
ways
to
love
your
parents.
36
.
A
gentle
“good
morning”
and
“I
love
you”
will
warm
a
coldest
heart.
Remember
that
they
brought
you
into
this
world.
Without
your
parents,
we
might
still
wander
at
an
unknown
corner
in
an
unknown
world.
Respect
them
more
and
cherish
these
moments.
You
can
use
these
moments
to
learn
from
them,
preparing
yourself
for
when
you’re
off
on
your
own.
It’s
OK
to
get
angry
but
angry
actions
don’t
help
you
or
your
parents.
Act
calmly,
cool
off,
write
down
your
feelings,
or
talk
to
a
friend.
37
Obey
their
requests.
It
will
make
your
attitude
better
and
earn
you
more
respect
from
them.
It
may
seem
like
you
are
going
through
hell
when
you
don’t
get
what
you
want
or
you
have
to
clean.
However,
you
had
better
remember
they
keep
a
roof
over
your
head
when
it’s
cold,
raining,
snowing,
or
too
hot.
Understand
that
parents
are
human
beings
and
make
mistakes.
38
Since
you
can
forgive
your
friends,
why
not
forgive
your
parents?
Keep
company
with
them.
Do
things
with
your
parents
like
watching
TV,
or
go
somewhere
with
them.

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
The
story
of
my
new
family
member
We
found
a
lonely
dog
a
few
weeks
ago,
walking
along
the
road
in
the
countryside.
All
of
a
sudden,
he
was
jumping
on
cars,
and
at
the
same
time
we
thought
maybe
his
family
was
camping
somewhere
in
the
neighboring
areas.
As
a
consequence
we
passed
him
by
without
hesitation.
A
few
hours
later,
on
our
return
trip,
he
was
still
in
the
same
place,
again
and
again,
making
an
attempt
to
get
people
to
stop
for
him.
When
he
caught
sight
of
us
approaching,
he
lay
down
in
the
middle
of
the
road,
so
we
failed
to
get
around
him.
My
father
braked
hard,
pulled
up
and
looked
around
for
a
few
minutes,
trying
to
figure
out
whether
anyone
around
from
whom
he
had
been
separated.
After
getting
off
the
car,
we
checked
the
dog
carefully.
It
didn’t
appear
so.
Then
we
took
a
good
look
at
the
poor
but
cute
dog.
He
gazed
at
us
eagerly
with
gloomy
eyes.
We
circled
around
him
in
a
total
silence.
We
had
an
overwhelming
desire
to
find
out
what
was
wrong
with
him.
Unfortunately,
we
couldn’t
find
any
clues.
He
had
no
collar
and
he
was
really
too
thin.
Eventually
we
decided
that
he
had
been
abandoned.
We
showed
great
sympathy
for
the
poor
dog.
How
helpless
he
was
on
such
an
occasion!
He
was
homeless
and
he
had
no
one
to
rely
on.
On
seeing
the
scene,
we
couldn’t
help
begging
my
parents
to
raise
him.
My
mother
agreed
excitedly,
“I
love
this
lovely
dog.
How
poor
he
is!
It
is
high
time
that
we
should
bring
him
home.”
She
stared
at
the
dog
with
tears
welling
up
in
her
eyes.
We
knew
my
mother
was
willing
to
adopt
the
dog
because
she
was
so
sweet
and
she
loved
dogs
very
much.
My
father
thought
it
was
dangerous
to
raise
a
dog
due
to
the
fact
that
we
were
too
young.

We

Then
my

walked
slowly
to
the
dog.
It
turned
out

he

a

peaceful
dog
with
his

swinging
to

My

bent
down
and
touched
the

softly.
To
our
surprise,
the

father’s

which
made
all

into
laughter.
Thus,
My

to

And
he

we’d

Hearing
this,
all
of
us
were
relieved.
Now
he
was
a
member
of
our
family.
Since
then,
the
little
dog
brought
a
lot
of
fun
to
our
family.
And
we
named
him
Bolt,
for
his
incredible
speed.
With
time
passing
by,
we
got
more
familiar
with
each
other.
Unexpectedly,
my
father
became
the
one
who
loved
Bolt
most,
as
Bolt
liked
to
followed
him
wherever
he
went.
Just
as
my
father
said,
with
Bolt’s
company,
you
would
never
feel
lonely
and
bored.
How
lucky
we
were
to
have
such
a
lovely
dog!

How
interesting!

You’re

More

I
am

And
I

But
I

Last

but
it
rained
all

W:
All
right.
Go

You

In
the

No,
it’s

W:
So,
what
are
you
going
to
do
this
summer?
M:
Well,
I’m
probably
going
on
holiday
with
my
parents,
but
I
really
hope
I
can
get
a
summer
job
in
a
market.
What
about
you?
W:
I’m
going
to
Scotland
for
the
summer.
M:
For
the
whole
summer?
W:
Yes.
I’m
going
to
work
in
the
mountains
with
my
best
friend.
M:
Really?
That
sounds
great!
W:
Yes.
The
work
won’t
be
very
interesting.
It’ll
be
mostly
cooking,
cleaning
and
working
on
reception
and
selling
drinks.
But
our
hours
are
eight
till
ten
in
the
morning
and
six
till
nine
in
the
evening.
So
we’ll
have
plenty
of
time
during
the
day
to
go
for
a
walk
in
the
open
air.
M:
I
wish
I
could
get
a
job
like
that.
How
did
you
find
out
about
it?
W:
I
read
about
it
in
a
magazine
called
Summer
Work
Round
Britain.
It
tells
you
about
all
kinds
of
different
jobs
in
different
places.
You
can
work
on
farms
picking
fruits,
or
at
hotels
near
the
sea.
You
can
even
get
work
at
music
festivals.

W:
Hello,
I’m
Rachel

I’m
so
happy
to

I’ve

all
the
way
from
England,
and
it’s

the
United

This

the

I’m
off
to
Australia
next!
Before
I
take
any
questions,
let
me
tell
you
a
bit
about
myself.
My
new
novel,
The
Love
Song
of
Miss
Queenie
Hennessy,
was
published
in
2014.
The
book
is
a
companion
to
my
first
novel.
The
Unlikely
Pilgrimage
of
Harold
Fry,
which
follows
a
man
named
Harold
Fry
as
he
goes
in
search
of
his
old
friend,
Queenie
Hennessy,
in
hopes
of
saying
goodbye
before
she
dies.
The
novel
was
published
in
2012.
It
was
almost
chosen
for
the
Commonwealth
Book
Prize
and
the
Man
Booker
Prize.
The
Love
Song
of
Miss
Queenie
Hennessy
is
Queenie’s
side
of
the
story
as
she
waits
for
Harold.
I’ve
also
written
many
radio
plays
for
BBC
Radio
Four,
and
in
2007,
I
won
the
Tinniswood
Award
for
my
radio
play
To
Be
a
Pilgrim.
I
have
also
won
the
UK
National
Book
Award
for
New
Writer
of
the
Year.
Now,
I’ll
take
questions
from
the
audience.
