Step 1：Pre-reading
1、After greetings, show the Ss some pictures（crop circles, UFO, The Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster, the Yeti）and see whether they have heard of these things or not.
2、Lead in by showing a picture of “ the monster of lake Canasi”, which was taken by the teacher herself.
3、the basic information of Lake Tianchi.

2、 阅读前，教师先展示一些大家所熟知的自然界中至今未解的神秘现象，比如，野人，UFO等等，然后很自然地引出本课话题——自然界中的不解之谜。在这个过程当中还贯穿了新词的教学（sceptical, monster, tail, footprint, mysterious, unexplained mysteries, claim, volcanic lake），为后面的阅读扫清障碍。
3、 教师以自己在新疆喀纳斯湖怪的所见所闻作为导入，自然地过渡到本节课的教学重点“天池怪兽”，激发出学生的兴趣和好奇心。
