A
I
never
saw
my
father
back
home
from
work
late
or
ill,
nor
did
I
ever
see
my
father
take
a
night
out
with
the
boys.
He
had
no
hobbies
but
just
took
care
of
his
family.
For
22
years,
since
I
left
home
for
college,
my
father
called
me
every
Sunday
at
9:00
a.m.
He
was
always
interested
in
my
life—how
my
family
was
doing.
The
calls
even
came
when
he
and
my
mother
were
in
Australia,
England
or
Florida.
Nine
years
ago
when
I
bought
my
first
house,
my
father,
67
years
old,
spent
eight
hours
a
day
for
three
days,
painting
my
house.
He
would
not
allow
me
to
pay
someone
to
have
it
done.
All
he
asked
was
a
glass
of
iced
tea,
and
that
I
hold
a
paintbrush
for
him
and
talk
to
him.
But
I
was
too
busy,
for
I
had
a
law
practice
to
run,
and
I
could
not
take
the
time
to
hold
the
paintbrush,
or
talk
to
my
father.
Five
years
ago,
my
71?year?old
father
spent
five
hours
putting
together
a
swing
set
(秋千)
for
my
daughter.
Again,
all
he
asked
was
that
I
get
him
a
glass
of
iced
tea,
and
talk
to
him.
But
again,
I
had
the
laundry
to
do,
and
the
house
to
clean.
The
morning
on
Sunday,
January
15,
1995,
my
father
telephoned
me
as
usual,
this
time
he
had
seemed
to
have
forgotten
some
things
we
had
discussed
the
week
before.
I
had
to
go
to
church,
and
I
cut
the
conversation
short.
The
call
came
at
4:40
p.m..
That
day
my
father
was
sent
to
hospital
in
Florida.
I
got
on
a
plane
immediately,
and
I
vowed
(发誓)
that
when
I
arrived,
I
would
make
up
for
the
lost
time,
and
have
a
nice
long
talk
with
him
and
really
get
to
know
him.
I
arrived
in
Florida
at
1:00
a.m.,
but
my
father
had
passed
away
at
9:12
p.m..
This
time
it
was
he
who
did
not
have
time
to
talk,
or
time
to
wait
for
me.
In
the
years
since
his
death
I
have
learnt
much
about
my
father,
and
even
more
about
every
single
day.
1.We

healthy
in
his

too
busy
to
talk
to
her
father

hold
a

D.spent
eight
hours
a

working
with
her
father
3.Which

the
best
title
of
the
text?
A.Painting
Houses
B.Daughter's
Family
C.Father
and
I
D.Father's
phone
calls
B
My
teacher
picked
up
a
piece
of
broken
glass
and
asked,
“Who
broke
this
window?”
Thirty
boys
tried
to
think
about
not
only
what
they
had
done,
but
also
what
our
teacher
may
have
found
out.
She
seldom
became
angry,
but
she
was
this
time.
“Oh,”
I
thought.
I
was
the
one
who
broke
the
window.
It
was
caused
by
a
mischievous
throw
of
a
baseball.
If
I
admitted
the
guilt,
I
would
be
in
a
lot
of
trouble.
How
could
I
be
able
to
pay
for
a
big
window
like
that?
I
didn't
even
get
an
allowance.
“My
father
is
going
to
have
a
fit”
I
thought.
I
didn't
want
to
raise
my
hand,
but
some
force
much
stronger
than
I
was
pulled
it
skyward.
I
told
the
truth.
“I
did
it.”
It
was
hard
enough
to
say
what
I
had
done.
My
teacher
took
down
a
book
from
one
of
our
library
shelves
and
I
had
never
known
my
teacher
to
strike
a
student,
but
I
feared
she
was
going
to
start
with
me.
“I
know
how
you
like
birds.”
she
said
as
she
stood
looking
down
at
my
guilt?ridden
face.
“Here
is
that
field
guide
about
birds
that
you
are
constantly
checking
out.
It
is
yours
now.
It's
time
that
we
should
get
a
new
one
for
the
school
anyway.
You
will
not
be
punished
as
long
as
you
remember
that
I
am
not
rewarding
you
for
your
misdeed,
but
I
am
rewarding
you
for
your
truthfulness.”
I
couldn't
believe
it!
I
wasn't
being
told
off
and
I
got
my
own
bird
field
guide—the
very
one
that
I
had
been
saving
money
up
to
buy.
All
that
remains
of
that
day
is
my
memory
and
the
lesson
my
teacher
taught
me.
That
lesson
stays
with
me
every
day,
and
it
will
echo
forever.
4.From
the
story,
we
can
learn
that
the
boy
________.
A.didn't
break
the
window
on
purpose
B.lacked
the
strength
to
admit
his
guilt
C.tried
to
think
about
what
he
had
done
D.didn't
know
what
the
teacher
had
found
out
5.If
the
boy
admitted
the
guilt,
he
didn't
think
he
would
________.
A.be
punished
by
the
teacher
B.make
his
father
angry
C.pay
for
the
broken
window
D.get
a
bird
field
guide
6.Which
of
the
following
best
describes
the
changes
of
the
boy's
moods?
A.Afraid—Surprised—Thankful.
B.Frightened—Amazed—Proud.
C.Regretful—Guilty—Excited.
D.Nervous—Afraid—Satisfied.
7.What
is
the
lesson
the
boy's
teacher
taught
him?
A.Every
coin
has
two
sides.
B.Honesty
is
always
precious.
C.Bad
luck
never
comes
alone.
D.It's
never
too
late
to
be
careful.
C
It
was
the
first
time
I
had
noticed
him
properly.
Before
this,
Jack
had
just
been
a
friendly
young
fellow
assigned
by
the
hotel
to
accompany
me
into
the
wildlife
park
nearby.
But
then
he
caught
my
attention
by
asking
me
to
shut
up.
“It's
just
a
garden
spider,
don't
scream!”he
said,
looking
at
the
creature
with
more
affection
than
I
could
muster
for
most
humans.
I
had
indeed
screamed—I
was
in
the
front
seat
of
a
jeep
and
the
spider
was
on
my
leg.
I
couldn't
get
off
the
jeep
and
even
if
I
could,
I
wouldn't
have,
as
my
eyes
and
mouth
were
fixed
with
fear
by
the
scary
little
thing.
“I
don't
care
what
it
is,
make
it
go
away!”I
even
shouted.
I
thought
he
would
pick
the
thing
up
and
throw
it
out
of
the
jeep
right
at
that
moment.
He
did
something
quite
else.
He
pushed
his
leg
towards
mine
and
held
out
the
cloth
of
his
trousers
to
gently
let
the
spider
on
to
his
own
leg.
The
spider
climbed
a
little
bit
and
then
just
stopped
there,
stuck
to
his
knee.
I
sat
there
staring
at
the
spider
for
any
sudden
movement—if
a
tiger
had
walked
by
then,
I
would
not
have
even
looked
at
it.
I
was
shocked
that
the
man
was
completely
at
ease
with
a
spider
dangerously
landing
on
his
knee.
About
15
minutes
later,
he
pushed
his
knee
forward
to
the
dashboard
and
the
spider
immediately
climbed
off
his
knee
and
on
to
the
jeep.
“The
poor
thing
had
been
trying
to
get
off
me,”he
said,
“I
only
noticed
now
that
it
was
trying
to
reach
the
dashboard,
so
I
helped
him
along.”
I
wondered
then
about
this
man,
who
thought
about
the
spider
with
such
kindness.
Where
and
when
did
I
lose
my
sympathy
towards
the
unfamiliar?
Now,
when
faced
with
a
row
of
ants,
my
first
reaction
is
no
longer
to
attack
them.
I
just
skip
over
them
and
we
both
carry
on.
Thanks
to
Jack,
I
learnt
to
live
with
the
not
so
beautiful
bits
of
nature.

A
【语篇解读】 本文是一篇记叙文,主要讲述了生活中的几件事情,从这些事情中我们可以看到:作者因为太忙,跟父亲没有太多的交流,当作者想要弥补时,父亲却离开了她。
1.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。根据第一段最后一句He
had
no
hobbies
but
just
took
care
of
his
family.
可知,父亲把他的家庭看成了他的全部,故选D。
2.答案与解析:B 细节理解题。根据第三段最后一句But
I
was
too
busy,
for
I
had
a
law
practice
to
run,
and
I
could
not
take
the
time
to
hold
the
paintbrush,
or
talk
to
my
father.
可知,女儿太忙了而没有时间和父亲说话,故选B。
3.答案与解析:C 主旨大意题。根据第二段第一句For
22
years,
since
I
left
home
for
college,
my
father
called
me
every
Sunday
at
9:00
a.m..
可知,自从“我”离开家去上大学以后,父亲每个星期日都会给“我”打电话。接下来文章主要讲述了父亲给“我”打的电话和为“我”做的事,所以文章的最佳标题是“父亲与我”,故选C。
B
【语篇解读】 本文是一篇记叙文,主要叙述了作者无意打破了窗户,本以为闯了祸会受到老师的惩罚,结果因为诚实地承认了过错,老师奖励给他一本他最想要的书的故事。
4.答案与解析:A 推理判断题。根据第三段中的I
was
the
one
who
broke
the
window.
It
was
caused
by
a
mischievous
throw
of
a
baseball.
If
I
admitted
the
guilt,
I
would
be
in
a
lot
of
trouble.
How
could
I
be
able
to
pay
for
a
big
window
like
that?以及第五段第一句“I
know
how
you
like
birds,”
she
said
as
she
stood
looking
down
at
my
guilt?ridden
face.
可推知,作者并不是故意打破窗户的,故选A项。
5.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。根据第三段中的If
I
admitted
the
guilt,
I
would
be
in
a
lot
of
trouble.
How
could
I
be
able
to
pay
for
a
big
window
like
that?
I
didn't
even
get
an
allowance.
“My
father
is
going
to
have
a
fit,”
I
thought.
以及第四段My
teacher
took
down
a
book
from
one
of
our
library
shelves
and
I
had
never
known
my
teacher
to
strike
a
student,
but
I
feared
she
was
going
to
start
with
me.
可知,如果作者承认了过错,他想自己可能会赔偿打破的窗户、让父亲生气以及被老师惩罚,但是他没有想过会得到一本书,故选D项。
6.答案与解析:A 推理判断题。根据第三、四段男孩内心的想法(担心自己承认了过错会被要求赔偿打破的窗户、惹父亲生气和被老师惩罚)可知,男孩一开始内心很害怕;根据倒数第二段I
couldn't
believe
it!
I
wasn't
being
told
off
and
I
got
my
own
bird
field
guide—the
very
one
that
I
had
been
saving
money
up
to
buy.
可知此时男孩感到吃惊;根据最后一段All
that
remains
of
that
day
is
my
memory
and
the
lesson
my
teacher
taught
me.
That
lesson
stays
with
me
every
day,
and
it
will
echo
forever.
可知,男孩的内心对老师是感谢的。故“害怕—惊讶—感谢”最能描述男孩的感情变化,故选A项。
7.答案与解析:B 细节理解题。根据倒数第三段中的You
will
not
be
punished
as
long
as
you
remember
that
I
am
not
rewarding
you
for
your
misdeed,
but
I
am
rewarding
you
for
your
truthfulness.
可知,作者的老师教他要诚实,故选B项。
C
【语篇解读】 当你看到陌生又令你害怕的野生小动物时,你会怎么做呢?有些人或许会害怕,也有些甚至会直接攻击,更有些人也会像Jack一样,给予了它们自己的关爱。
8.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。结合第一段“Before
this,
Jack
had
just
been
a
friendly
young
fellow
assigned
by
the
hotel
to
accompany
me
into
the
wildlife
park
nearby.”可知,作者对于Jack最初的印象就是陪他去野生动物园的一个友好的年轻人。故选D。
9.答案与解析:B 词义猜测题。结合语境,此处指Jack很友爱地看着眼前这只蜘蛛,这种对动物的关爱比我在大多数人身上得来的要多。句中的muster为动词,宾语为affection,结合选项可知,gather与其相近,意为“得到,聚集”。故选B。
10.答案与解析:D 推理判断题。根据文中第三自然段“He
did
something
quite
else.
He
pushed
his
leg
towards
mine
and
held
out
the
cloth
of
his
trousers
to
gently
let
the
spider
on
to
his
own
leg.
(他做出了完全不一样的反应,他把腿伸向我,扯出裤子,轻轻地让蜘蛛爬到自己的腿上。)”由此可知,相比于作者或者其他人,他对蜘蛛表现了更多的爱。故选D。
11.答案与解析:C 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Thanks
to
Jack,
I
learnt
to
live
with
the
not
so
beautiful
bits
of
nature.”可知,今后作者会学会宽容的对待这一类生物。故选C。
