Many
of
us
love
July
because
it's
the
month
when
nature's
berries
and
stone
fruits
are
in
abundance.
These
colourful
and
sweet
jewels
from
British
Columbia's
fields
are
little
powerhouses
of
nutritional
protection.
Of
the
common
berries,
strawberries
are
highest
in
vitamin
C,
although,
because
of
their
seeds,
raspberries
contain
a
little
more
protein
(蛋白质),
iron
and
zinc
(not
that
fruits
have
much
protein).
Blueberries
are
particularly
high
in
antioxidants
(抗氧化物质).
The
yellow
and
orange
stone
fruits
such
as
peaches
are
high
in
the
carotenoids
we
turn
into
vitamin
A
and
which
are
antioxidants.
As
for
cherries
(樱桃),
they
are
so
delicious
who
cares
However,
they
are
rich
in
vitamin
C.
When
combined
with
berries
or
slices
of
other
fruits,
frozen
bananas
make
an
excellent
base
for
thick,
cooling
fruit
shakes
and
low
fat
“ice
cream”.
For
this
purpose,
select
ripe
bananas
for
freezing
as
they
are
much
sweeter.
Remove
the
skin
and
place
them
in
plastic
bags
or
containers
and
freeze.
If
you
like,
a
squeeze
of
fresh
lemon
juice
on
the
bananas
will
prevent
them
turning
brown.
Frozen
bananas
will
last
several
weeks,
depending
on
their
ripeness
and
the
temperature
of
the
freezer.
If
you
have
a_juicer,_you
can
simply
feed
in
frozen
bananas
and
some
berries
or
sliced
fruit.
Out
comes
a
“soft serve”
creamy
dessert,
to
be
eaten
right
away.
This
makes
a
fun
activity
for
a
children's
party;
they
love
feeding
the
fruit
and
frozen
bananas
into
the
top
of
the
machine
and
watching
the
ice
cream
come
out
below.
24.What
does
the
author
seem
to
like
about
cherries
A.They
contain
protein.
B.They
are
high
in
vitamin
A.
C.They
have
a
pleasant
taste.
D.They
are
rich
in
antioxidants.
25.Why
is
fresh
lemon
juice
used
in
freezing
bananas
A.To
make
them
smell
better.
B.To
keep
their
colour.
C.To
speed
up
their
ripening.
D.To
improve
their
nutrition.
26.What
is
“a_juicer”
in
the
last
paragraph
A.A
dessert.
B.A
drink.
C.A
container.
D.A
machine.
27.From
which
is
the
text
probably
taken
A.A
biology
textbook.
B.A
health
magazine.
C.A
research
paper.
D.A
travel
brochure.

While
famous
foreign
architects
are
invited
to
lead
the
designs
of
landmark
buildings
in
China
such
as
the
new
CCTV
tower
and
the
National
Center
for
the
Performing
Arts,
many
excellent
Chinese
architects
are
making
great
efforts
to
take
the
center
stage.
Their
efforts
have
been
proven
fruitful.
Wang
Shu,
a
49 year old
Chinese
architect,
won
the
2012
Pritzker
Architecture
Prize—which
is
often
referred
to
as
the
Nobel
Prize
in
architecture—on
February
28.
He
is
the
first
Chinese
citizen
to
win
this
award.
Wang
serves
as
head
of
the
Architecture
Department
at
the
China
Academy
of
Art
(CAA).
His
office
is
located
at
the
Xiangshan
campus
(校园)
of
the
university
in
Hangzhou,
Zhejiang
Province.
Many
buildings
on
the
campus
are
his
original
creations.
The
style
of
the
campus
is
quite
different
from
that
of
most
Chinese
universities.
Many
visitors
were
amazed
by
the
complex
architectural
space
and
abundant
building
types.
The
curves
(曲线)
of
the
buildings
perfectly
match
the
rise
and
fall
of
hills,
forming
a
unique
view.
Wang
collected
more
than
7
million
abandoned
bricks
of
different
ages.
He
asked
the
workers
to
use
traditional
techniques
to
make
the
bricks
into
walls,
roofs
and
corridors.
This
creation
attracted
a
lot
of
attention
thanks
to
its
mixture
of
modern
and
traditional
Chinese
elements
(元素).
Wang's
works
show
a
deep
understanding
of
modern
architecture
and
a
good
knowledge
of
traditions.
Through
such
a
balance,
he
had
created
a
new
type
of
Chinese
architecture,
said
Tadao
Ando,
the
winner
of
the
1995
Pritzker
Prize.
Wang
believes
traditions
should
not
be
sealed
in
glass
boxes
at
museums.
“That
is
only
evidence
that
traditions
once
existed,”
he
said.
“Many
Chinese
people
have
a
misunderstanding
of
traditions.
They
think
tradition
means
old
things
from
the
past.
In
fact,
tradition
also
refers
to
the
things
that
have
been
developing
and
that
are
still
being
created,”
he
said.
“Today,
many
Chinese
people
are
learning
Western
styles
and
theories
rather
than
focusing
on
Chinese
traditions.
Many
people
tend
to
talk
about
traditions
without
knowing
what
they
really
are,”
said
Wang.
The
study
of
traditions
should
be
combined
with
practice.
Otherwise,
the
recreation
of
traditions
would
be
artificial
and
empty,
he
said.
28.Wang's
winning
of
the
prize
means
that
Chinese
architects
are
________.
A.following
the
latest
world
trend
B.getting
international
recognition
C.working
harder
than
ever
before
D.relying
on
foreign
architects
29.What
impressed
visitors
to
the
CAA
Xiangshan
campus
most
A.Its
hilly
environment.
B.Its
large
size.
C.Its
unique
style.
D.Its
diverse
functions.
30.What
made
Wang's
architectural
design
a
success
A.The
mixture
of
different
shapes.
B.The
balance
of
East
and
West.
C.The
use
of
popular
techniques.
D.The
harmony
of
old
and
new.
31.What
should
we
do
about
Chinese
traditions
according
to
Wang
A.Spread
them
to
the
world.
B.Preserve
them
at
museums.
C.Teach
them
in
universities.
D.Recreate
them
in
practice.

Sodankyla,
a
town
just
north
of
the
Arctic
Circle,
boasts
an
average
annual
temperature
a
little
below
freezing.
People
there
eagerly
wait
for
the
brief
spell
in
July
when
the
area
enjoys
something
similar
to
summer.
This
year
they
may
have
wished
for
a
bit
less
of
it.
On
July
18th
thermometers
showed
32.1℃,
which
is
12℃
warmer
than
typical
for
the
month
and
the
highest
since
records
began
in
1908.
But
Sodankyla
is
not
the
only
place
that
is
burning.
Wildfires
have
killed
at
least
80
people
near
Athens.
Japan
has
declared
its
heatwave
to
be
a
natural
disaster.
On
the
night
of
July
7th,
the
temperature
in
downtown
Los
Angeles
did
not
drop
below
26.1℃.
That
seems
positively
nippy
compared
with
Quriyat
in
Oman,
which
recorded
a
24 hour
minimum
temperature
of
42.6℃
a
few
days
earlier.
Heatwaves
bring
problems,
especially
in
the
developing
world.
Studies
have
linked
rising
temperatures
to
violent
crime
and
civil
conflict.
And
heat
can
kill
on
its
own.
In
2003
more
than
70
000
Europeans
may
have
died
as
a
direct
result
of
an
infernal
(地狱似的)
summer.
No
consequence
of
global
warming
is
as
self evident
as
higher
temperatures.
Earth
is
roughly
1℃
hotter
today
than
it
was.
If
this
so called
thermodynamic
(热力学的)
effect
were
all
there
was
to
it,
temperatures
now
considered
unusually
hot
would
become
more
typical
and
those
regarded
as
uncommonly
cold,
uncommoner
still.
The
effects
could
be
disastrous.
But
at
least
people
can
learn
from
past
mistakes.
If
only
the
world
could
take
in
a
similar
lesson
about
the
importance
of
stopping
climate
change
in
the
first
place.
32.What
can
we
infer
about
the
temperature
in
Sodankyla
A.Its
temperature
in
summer
was
fairly
cool.
B.Its
high
temperature
always
sets
a
new
record.
C.Its
high
temperature
led
to
fire
emergencies.
D.Its
annual
temperature
is
a
little
above
zero
on
average.
33.Which
of
the
following
best
explains
“nippy”
underlined
in
Paragraph
2
A.Hot.
B.Cold.
C.Dry.
D.Wet.
34.What
result
will
heatwave
lead
to
A.Causing
violent
crime
and
civil
conflict
in
the
developed
world.
B.Leading
people
to
kill
themselves
as
a
direct
result
of
a
hot
summer.
C.Making
temperatures
now
considered
abnormally
hot
more
common.
D.Resulting
in
temperatures
regarded
as
uncommonly
cold
more
frequent.
35.What
is
the
main
idea
of
the
text
A.Wildfires
have
become
a
natural
disaster.
B.Global
warming
has
become
a
disastrous
issue.
C.Rising
temperatures
is
linked
to
social
problems.
D.Sodankyla
is
not
the
only
place
that
is
burning.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Color
is
fundamental
in
home
design—something
you'll
always
have
in
every
room.
A
grasp
of
how
to
manage
color
in
your
spaces
is
one
of
the
first
steps
to
creating
rooms
you'll
love
to
live
in.
Do
you
want
a
room
that's
full
of
life
Professional
Or
are
you
just
looking
for
a
place
to
relax
after
a
long
day
__36__,
color
is
the
key
to
making
a
room
feel
the
way
you
want
it
to
feel.
Over
the
years,
there
have
been
a
number
of
different
techniques
to
help
designers
approach
this
important
point.
__37__,
they
can
get
a
little
complex.
But
good
news
is
that
there're
really
only
three
kinds
of
decisions
you
need
to
make
about
color
in
your
home:
the
small
ones,
the
medium
ones,
and
the
large
ones.
__38__.
They're
the
little
spots
of
color
like
throw
pillows,
mirrors
and
baskets
that
most
of
us
use
to
add
visual
interest
to
our
rooms.
Less
tiring
than
painting
your
walls
and
less
expensive
than
buying
a
colorful
sofa,
small
color
choices
bring
with
them
the
significant
benefit
of
being
easily
changeable.
Medium
color
choices
are
generally
furniture
pieces
such
as
sofas,
dinner
tables
or
bookshelves.
__39__.
They
require
a
bigger
commitment
than
smaller
ones,
and
they
have
a
more
powerful
effect
on
the
feeling
of
a
space.
The
large
color
decisions
in
your
rooms
concern
the
walls,
ceilings,
and
floors.
Whether
you're
looking
at
wallpaper
or
paint,
the
time,
effort
and
relative
expense
put
into
it
are
significant.
__40__.
A.While
all
of
them
are
useful
B.Whatever
you're
looking
for
C.If
you're
experimenting
with
a
color
D.Small
color
choices
are
the
ones
we're
most
familiar
with
E.It's
not
really
a
good
idea
to
use
too
many
small
color
pieces
F.So
it
pays
to
be
sure,
because
you
want
to
get
it
right
the
first
time
G.Color
choices
in
this
range
are
a
step
up
from
the
small
ones
in
two
major
ways
第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分)

to
explore
new
aspects
of
life,
college
sets
the
stage
for
that
exploration.
I
myself
went
through
this
__41__
process
and
found

that
has

my
__42__
at
college
for
the
better:
I
discovered
ASL—American
Sign
Language
(美式手语).
I
never
felt
an
urge
to
__43__
any
sign
language
before.
My
entire
family
is

and
so
are
all
my

The

Little

that
I
would

my
__45__
for
ASL.
The
story
began
during
my
first

at

I
watched
as
the
ASL

__46__
their
translation
of
a
song.
Both
the
hand

and
the
very
__47__
of

speaking
__48__
me.
What
I
saw
was
completely
unlike
anything
I
had
experienced
in
the
__49__.
This
newness
just
left
me
wanting
more.
After
that,
feeling
the
need
to
__50__
further,
I
decided
to
drop
in
on
one
of
ASL
club's
meetings.
I
only
learned
how
to
sign
the
alphabet
that
day.
Yet
instead
of
being
discouraged
by
my
__51__
progress,
I
was
excited.
I
then
made
it
a
point
to
__52__
those
meetings
and
learn
all
I
could.
The
following
term,
I
__53__
an
ASL
class.
The
professor
was
deaf
and
any
talking
was
prohibited.
I
soon
realized
that
the
silence
was
not
unpleasant.
__54__,
if
there
had
been
any
talking,
it
would
have
__55__
us
to
learn
less.
Now,
I
appreciate
the
silence
and
the
new
way
of
communication
it
opens.

第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的短文。
In
a
class
I
teach
for
adults,
I
recently
did
something
“unpardonable”.
I
gave
the
class
homework!
The
assignment
was
to
“go
to
someone
you
love
within
the
next
week
and
tell
them
you
love
them.
It
has
to
be
someone
you
have
never
said
those_words
to
before
or
at
least
haven't
shared
those
words
with
for
a_long_time.”
Now
that
doesn't
sound
like
a
very
tough
assignment,_until
you
stop
to
realize
that
most
of
the
men
were
over
35
and
were
raised
in
the
generation
of
men
that
were
taught
that
expressing_emotions
is
not
“macho
(大男子气概的)”.
Showing
feelings
or
crying
(heaven
forbid!)
was
just
not
done.
So
this
was
a
very
threatening
assignment
for
some.
At
the
beginning
of
our
next
class,
I
asked
if
someone
wanted
to
share
what
happened
when
they
told
someone
they
loved
them.
I
fully
expected
one
of
the
women
to
volunteer,
as
was
usually
the
case,
but
on
this
evening
one
of
the
men
raised
his
hand.
He
appeared
quite
moved
and
a
bit
shaken.
As
he
unfolded
out
of
his
chair,
he
began
by
saying,“Dennis,
I
was
quite
angry_with
you
last
week
when
you
gave
us
this
assignment.
I
didn't
feel
that
I
had
anyone
to
say
those
words
to,
and
besides,
who
were
you
to
tell
me
to
do
something
that
personal
But
as
I
began
driving
home
my
conscience
started
talking
to
me.
It
was
telling
me
that
I
knew
exactly
who
I
needed
to
say
I_love_you
too.”
“You
see,
five
years
ago,
my
father
and
I
had
a_severe_disagreement
and
really
never
resolved
it
since
that
time.
We
avoided
seeing
each
other
unless
we
absolutely
had
to
at
Christmas
or
other
family
gatherings.
But
even
then,
we
hardly
spoke_to_each_other.
So
last
Tuesday
by
the
time
I
got
home
I
had
convinced
myself
I
was
going
to
tell
my_dad
I
loved
him.
It's
weird,
but
just
making
that
decision
seemed
to
lift
a
heavy
load
off
my
chest.”
“The
next
morning
I
was
up
bright
and
early.
I
was
so
excited
that
I
could
hardly
sleep.
I
got
to
the
office
early
and
accomplished
more
in
two
hours
than
I
had
the
whole
day
before.”

turning
brown.”可知,如果你愿意,可以在香蕉上挤一些新鲜柠檬汁,防止香蕉变成棕色。由此可推知,在冻香蕉上加新鲜柠檬汁是为了保持香蕉的颜色。故选B。
26.答案与解析:D 词义猜测题。该题问的是最后一段中的画线词是什么意思。根据最后一段最后一句“This
makes
a
fun
activity
for
a
children's
party;
they

fruit
and
frozen
bananas
into
the
top
of
the
machine
and
watching
the
ice
cream
come
out
below.”可知,这会为儿童聚会增添一项有趣的活动;孩子们喜欢往料理机里加水果和冻香蕉然后看着冰淇淋被做出来。由此可推知,最后一段的画线词“a
juicer”应该是一种机器。故选D。

temperature
of
42.6℃
a
