第一课时。本节课为一节阅读课，文章通过截取J.K.Rowling
在2008年哈佛大学毕业演讲上的部分发言，该部分演讲的主题为The
Benefits
of
Failure,文章穿插介绍了她的人生经历。本节课意在通过阅读体会总结文章中心思想的方法，并获取不同时间段J.K.Rowling所经历的不同事件，并从阅读过程中向学生渗透勇于面对困难、永不放弃的情感目标。
学情分析：
班内学生为农村学校的普通班初三学生，他们学习英语的积极性较高，但受能力水平和词汇量的制约，许多学生对于长难文章的理解上有很大困难。对于文学这一相关话题他们已经在本册书的其他单元有所了解。而J.K.Rowling这个人物，学生们也已经通过风靡全球的影片《Harry
Potter》有所感知，但对于她的成功经历还是知之甚少。为了降低文章难道，本节课主要通过时间主线，培养学生关注文章的写作形式、总结主旨和提取主要信息的能力。
三、教学目标
本节课结束后，学生能够
通过篇章阅读，关注用时间线索介绍人物经历的形式，能根据这一线索对J.K.Rowling经历的相关事件进行排序，并通过内容分析和高频词汇选择出文中的主旨大意。
通过阅读并分析J.K.Rowling在演讲上的主要发言，获取Rowling曾经面临的困难及面对困难时的情感态度信息。
通过了解J.K.Rowling的故事，逐步体会失败对于成功的意义，并结合自己的学习生活，分析应该如何正确面对失败。
教学重点：
引导学生通过提取文章中的高频词汇总结文章的主旨大意。
引导学生通过观察文章的写作特点，根据时间主线提取J.K.Rowling的人生经历的相关信息。
通过简单分析J.K.Rowling的发言内容和她的人生经历，引导学生学习勇于面对困难、永不言弃的精神。
