if

whether
都用作连词,意为“是否”,可引导宾语从句。一般情况下两者可以互换。
if多用于口语和非正式文体中,whether
则多用于比较正式的文体中。

我们想知道明天是否会下雨。

(注意)在下列情况下,只能用
whether,不能用
if:
(1)在带to的动词不定式前。

2.疑问词引导的宾语从句
连接代词
who,
whom,
what,
which,
whose
和连接副词
when,where,
why,
how也可引导宾语从句。疑问词在句中不仅起连接作用,还在从句中充当句子成分,可作主语、宾语或时间、地点、方式状语等。
但是需要注意的是,在疑问词引导的宾语从句中,从句要用陈述句语序。
