Would you like to live in a city where buildings turn the lights off for you, and self driving cars will find the nearest parking space themselves Although it might sound a little far from you, living in a “smart” city like this could happen sooner than you think.
Great changes have taken place in towns that we have lived in for centuries, while completely new cities are being built. One such place is the city of Songdo. Every home there will have a “telepresence” system (远程遥控系统)—allowing users to control the heating and locks, take part in video meetings, and receive education, health care and government services. Around the city, escalators (自动扶梯) will only move when someone is on them, and offices and schools will all be connected to the system.
The great mind behind Songdo is from the company Cisco. In fact, technology companies around the world such as IBM, Siemens and Microsoft are already in the business.
About 75% of the world's population will live in cities by 2050, so cities will need to be more modern to deal with the coming problems. “Making cities smarter is one way out, and I think this will in turn make cities greener, ” said Dan Hill, head of a research company.

It seems very natural that if you have two dollars and add two dollars to them, you have four dollars. ________66 In fact, one of the most difficult things to teach children is the ideas of numbers.
In ancient (古代的) times, when a man wanted to tell how many animals he owned, he had no system (体系) of numbers to use. ________67 The more animals, the more stones or pebbles he had. It may explain why the word “calculate” comes from the Latin word “calculus” which means “stone”.
________68 People would just scratch (划下) a line or tally mark for each object they wanted to count, but they had no word to tell the number.
The next step in the development of the number system was probably to use fingers. ________69 The word “digit” comes from the Latin word “digitus”. It means “finger”! And the fact that we have 10 fingers led to the general use of 10 in the system of numbers.
The number system we use today was invented by the Hindus in India thousands of years ago and was brought to Europe during the 8th to 11th centuries by Arab traders. In this system all numbers are written with the nine digits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and zero. ________70

根据no more and no less可知, 这里表示“正好”的意思, 故选C。
27. A
from time to time时常、不时; from one to another从一个到另一个; from past to now从过去到现在; from day to night从早到晚。
used to do sth. be used to doing sth. 意为“习惯于做某事”; be used to do sth.
31. B
32. A 点拨: 根据“We are still looking for it.
33. C 点拨: a lot of与lots of意为“许多”, 其后加可数名词复数或不可数名词, a lot可作副词词组, 修饰动词, 意思是“非常”。
34. C 点拨: How far多远, 对距离提问; How often多久一次, 对频率提问; How long多长时间, 对时间段提问; How soon多久以后, 一般用于将来时态。根据Since we were in our childhood可知用how long提问。故选C。

I have changed a lot!
Time goes by. Three years have passed. Of course I have changed a lot. Let me show you my changes.
I used to be really short and thin. I used to be shy and quiet. I was always silent in class. But now I have changed a lot. One of my most important changes is that I become more outgoing. What made me change a lot I remember when I was in Grade Eight, there was an English speech in our school. I wanted to take part in it, but I was afraid it. Our English teacher, Mr. Wang encouraged me to take part in it. He guided me a lot, and I practiced a lot every day. Finally, I won the first prize in the speech contest. I felt very proud and happy. Since then, I have become more outgoing.
