Spaceship: Shenzhou 5 Time: October 15th, 2003Main events:Chinese spaceman Yang Liwei was sent up into space. He went around the earth 14 times in his one day flight. China became the third country to succeed in manned space flight.

The space age began in 1957 when the Soviet Union launched (发射)Sputnik l.
It was the world's first man made satellite(卫星). In 1957, the Soviet Union also launched Sputnik 2 with a dog named Laika. Laika was the first animal to orbit(沿轨道运动) the earth.
