根据第一段“A lecture hall should be like a church—a little too dark, much too cold, and uncomfortably silent. You should feel guilty opening your water bottle, because all 200 people in the room can hear it.”(大教室应该像教堂一样,有点黑,阴冷且有种令人不舒服的安静。 D“Both places are supposed to be quiet.”(教堂和大教室都应该安静。)

根据文章倒数第二段“I actually don’t care if you decide to pay little or no attention to the lecture itself, so long as you’re not being disturbing.”(事实上,我如果你决定上课不认真听讲我并不关心,只要你没有在打扰其他人就行。)

Text 10
Nothing in this world can be achieved without effort.Mozart wasn’t born a composer. He practiced the piano from the age of three and began composing by the age of five. His father, who was also his teacher, was very strict with the boy.
Jimi Hendrix used to walk around his house with a guitar and play up to eight hours a day.As a child,Jimi used to listen to his father’s blues records alone with a broom, pretending to play it like a guitar.Neither of them had their gift just given to them at birth. They had to work hard and discover that they had a gift. And they didn’t just make do with what they had after that. They kept at it.Hendrix didn’t even know how to read music,so everything he learned,he learned through listening.
Another example is Albert Einstein, the father of modern physics. He was told that he would never be a success at anything. No one wanted to hire him after he graduated from college. But he believed in himself, and he persevered with his studies on his own.
Now,I’m not trying to say that everyone can be a Mozart or an Einstein if they just put in a lot of time doing something. But with effort and passion, one can achieve a great deal.Without those things, you’re not going to achieve much.Luck comes to those who prepare for it.If you do something you love, don’t let little bumps along the road stop you.

I began to grow up that winter night when my parents and I were returning from my aunt’s house, and my mother said that we might soon be leaving for America. We were on the bus then. I was crying, and some people on the bus were turning around to look at me. I remember that I could not bear the thought of never hearing again the radio program for school children to which I listened every morning. I do not remember myself crying for this reason again. In fact, I think I cried very little when I was saying goodbye to my friends and relatives. When we were leaving, I thought about all the places I was going to see—the strange and magical places I had known only from books and pictures. The country I was leaving never to come back was hardly in my head then.
The four years that followed taught me the importance of optimism(乐观主义), but the idea did not come to me at once. For the first two years in New York I was really lost—having to study in three schools as a result of family moves. I did not quite know what I was or what I should be. Mother remarried, and things became even more complex for me. Some time passed before my stepfather and I got used to each other. I was often sad, and saw no end to “the hard times”.
My responsibilities(职责) in the family increased a lot since I knew English better than everyone else at home. I wrote letters, filled out forms, translated at interviews with immigration(移民) officers, took my grandparents to the doctor and translated there, and even discussed telephone bills with company representatives.
From my experiences I have learned one important rule: almost all common troubles eventually go away! Something good is certain to happen in the end when you do not give up, and just wait a little! I believe that my life will turn out all right, even though it will not be that easy.
24. How did the author get to know America
A. From her relatives. B. From her mother.
C. From books and pictures. D. From radio programs.

A. often lost her way B. did not think about her job
C. studied in three different schools D. got on well with her new friends
26. What can we learn from the author from Paragraph 3
A. She worked as a translator. B. She attended a lot of job interviews.
C. She paid telephone bills for her family . D. She helped her family with her English.
27. The author believes that________.
A. her future will be free from troubles . B. it is difficult to learn to become patient.
C. there are more good things than bad things. D. good things will happen if one keeps trying.
C
A lecture hall should be like a church—a little too dark, much too cold, and uncomfortably silent. You should feel guilty(愧疚的) opening your water bottle, because all 200 people in the room can hear it.
So when I’m trying to pay attention, the last thing you should be doing is carrying on a conversation about your last weekend party or anything else.
During the past school term, I’ve had enough. One of my biggest complaints of large class sizes is the tendency for three to five friends to sit together and loudly whisper each others’ ears off for an hour and 15 minutes straight. My stupid monkey brain can’t help but focus on your conversation about the difference between ash blonde and light blonde colored hair that look exactly the same.
To me, it just feels like a waste. You’re actively wasting money, and missing vital information. We (and the government) pay quite a lot for our education, but you are here to ignore someone significantly more experienced than us, in classes we picked, for hours every week.
I know major requirements can be boring, but this is still an education. It requires two way effort. Most students here have at least one goal in common: success. Not every checkpoint on that path is going to be filled with joy. Sit down, shut up, and force yourself to listen to your professor. Society tells us it will eventually pay off.
Or maybe it won’t because you don’t want to.
I actually don’t care if you decide to pay little or no attention to the lecture itself, so long as(只要) you’re not being disturbing.
For those willing to try, in 20 years when you finally pay off your debt with your fairly secure white collar job, you’ll look back and be happy that you went through the lectures.
28. Why is a lecture hall compared to a church by the author
A. Both places are open to the public.
B. Both places help rid people of their guilt.
C. Both places can seat over 200 people.
D. Both places are supposed to be quiet.
29. What can we infer about the author from the passage
A. He likes persuading others.
B. He tends to make complaints.
C. He values education as a duty.
D. He cares much about friendship.
30. How does the author feel when writing the passage
A. Delighted. B. Annoyed. C. Thrilled. D. Worried.
31. What may be the best title for the text
A. Hard Work Pays Off!
B. Focus on the Lectures!
C. Wasting Your Time Is a Shame!
D. Mind Your In Class Behavior!
D
On the evening of April 8, Dunhuang Academy and Huawei jointly launched a brand-new technology-driven tour experience at the Mogao Grottoes. Using Huawei's newly-released(发行) Hetu artificial intelligence platform, coupled with the output of the Digital Dunhuang project, visitors to the Mogao Grottoes can enjoy a fantasy experience prior to entering the attraction.
Zhao Shengliang, director of the Dunhuang Academy, said that it has been cooperating with Huawei since March 2019. Using Huawei's latest Hetu technology, visitors are able to see the detailed contents of the Dunhuang Art Murals(壁画) outside the caves, through their Huawei mobile phones. This will reduce the time tourists spend inside the cave, aiding the protection of the cultural relics, while at the same time helping to increase the amount of information visitors can obtain. It is also considered to be a new way of promoting Dunhuang Art.
The Dunhuang Academy has used digital technology to preserve the research and exploration of Dunhuang Grottoes since the early 1990s. It has collected a wealth of data and has realized the goal of sharing of digital Dunhuang globally. It has played an important role in the protection and research of cultural site, as well as promoting the development and progress of related work.
The Huawei Hetu platform unites Dunhuang's study findings, high-resolution images of the site's murals and virtual, three-dimensional models with the real Mogao Grottoes. Dad and Mom had got to go on a four-day business trip. They instructed(指导) their elder son Daniel and younger daughter Jane how to feed and look after their dog, Spot, how to take good care of themselves --- learning to cook if they could, or ordering pizza --- with money left on the table --- if they were busy, and told them to keep their rooms clean and tidy. They asked Daniel to be in charge(负责).
On the very morning when the parents left, Mom kissed them and said to Daniel gently, “Young man, do take care of Spot and Jane.” Daniel promised, “I will, Mom.” Too excited to fall asleep again, Daniel and Jane jumped out of bed, calling out each other to get up. Their pet dog, Spot, heard the similar voice and rushed in, with a ball in its mouth. Jane stuck her head into Daniel’s room. “Spot got up an hour earlier. Let’s walk it.” Daniel said excitedly, “I’m coming, but, Jane, don’t forget to keep your room clean and tidy.” “I will.”
They ran with the dog in the yard and threw the ball away for Spot to bring it back. They had fun playing with Spot the whole morning. Washing Spot was slow and tiring as it was the first time they had done it. Then Daniel concentrated on his homework while Jane did her reading with interest.
The following day, Jane begged her brother to order pizza for lunch. Daniel agreed excitedly, “We haven’t tasted that for long and we behave ourselves, right ” After a while, he added, “We should save money, too.”Within half an hour, they treated themselves to a big pizza. However, in the afternoon, Spot looked sick, lying lazily and unwilling to move. Daniel was concerned about the dog and took it to the pet clinic immediately with Jane as their parents had done.
