Roberta, Peter and Phyllis lived in a large house in London. Father worked hard in a government office. He was never angry and always ready for a game. Mother was almost at home, ready to play with the children, and read to them, and help them do their home-lessons.
These three lucky children always had everything they needed: pretty clothes, good fires, a lovely playroom and a dog called James. They had a happy life, but they did not know how happy till the pretty life in the large house was over.
Peter had a toy engine and it broke. After dinner, Peter showed Father the engine. Father looked it over and promised to do it on Saturday.
At that moment two men came to see Father. Minutes passed. Father's voice came out from the study, loud and angry.
More time passed. Then Mother came in and said, "Father's been called away— on business."
A week after their father went away, their mother said, "Now, we're going to move to the country. A pretty little white house, called Three Chimneys. "
The family started packing: clothes, plates, candles and also tables and chairs. "We seem to be taking all the ugly things, "said Roberta.
"We're taking the useful ones, "said Mother. "We've got to play at being poor for a bit. "
Peter said joyously, "I do like moving! I wish we moved once a month. " Mother laughed and said, "I don't like moving!"
As she turned away, Roberta saw her face. She never forgot it.
"Oh, Mother, "she whispered, "how I love you! You are brave enough to laugh when you're feeling like that!"
Then they took a train to Three Chimneys. No one knew how long they had been in the train when Mother woke them up.
They stood in the cold night air on the dark platform. At that moment they didn't know how important the station and the trains would become to them. They didn't know they were going to be the railway children.

If you walk through a park in the morning or in the evening, you might see a lot of people doing these slow and beautiful movements— Carry the tiger over the mountain and White crane spreads its wings. In fact, they are doing Taichi.
Taichi is an ancient martial art(武术). It is a common kind of exercise in China. More than 100 million people in over 150 countries practice Taichi at present. Recently UNESCO(联合国教科文组织) has added Taichi to its Intangible Cultural Heritage List(非物质文化遗产名录). Many taichi fans were happy to hear of it. “This will make taichi more popular around the world. Hopefully, more people will become healthier by practicing it.” said Chen Bin. He is a Taichi master from the village of Chenjiagou, Henan Province. This village is the birthplace of Chen-style Taichi.
It’s true that doing Taichi is good for our health. It can make us walk and move more freely, and it can also make us stronger. During slow movements, we can focus on (专注) our hands and feet. We can control them better. Slow movements also help us to take deep and long breaths.
Taichi also focuses on the harmony(和谐) between yin(阴) and yang(阳). It shows how the ancient Chinese people saw the world. The world is full of yin and yang: dark and light, soft and hard, female and male. But they don’t oppose(对立) each other absolutely(绝对地). As we see in the picture, a white spot is in the black area and a black spot is in the white area. After a dark night, the sun will rise. Leaves fall in autumn but grow in spring. Everything keeps changing — that is how we should see the world.
Taichi carries traditional Chinese philosophy(哲学), such as being in harmony with nature and using softness to beat hardness. It has become a symbol of Chinese culture.

A. Because it is a symbol of China culture. B. Because it is from the village of Chenjiagou.
C. Because it can make us walk more freely. D. Because it can use softness to beat hardness.
61. What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage
A. To ask people to do Taichi in their fiee time. B. To introduce an ancient martial art—taichi.
C. To teach people how to do Taichi correctly. D. To explain why Taichi is good for our health
D
Looking at art should be like walking in the countryside. You may not know exactly where you are, what bird is making that strange sound, or what the hill ahead of you is called, but that’s part of the fun of it. You don’t need to know these things to feel the beauty of nature.
Of course, if you do know your birds, trees and local history, a walk can be more attractive. Yet such knowledge comes slowly. It is picked up through experience. A true knowledge of nature cannot just be given to you through an app on your phone. Imagine pointing your phone at the hill and getting plenty of information on screen. Would that enrich your dreamy walk or ruin(毁灭) it
Braggarts enjoy an app that allows them to show off their knowledge, for example, about baroque(巴洛克风格的) paintings. In fact, apps in museums try to provide on-screen art history at once just to encourage people to read their phones instead of looking at paintings.
It is a mistaken idea that you need to be spoon-fed(灌输) amazing facts about a work of art in order to appreciate(欣赏) it. Our first experience of a work of art should be raw(自然状态的), unguided, and a bit puzzling, like following a path in the woods. Later, you might choose to do some personal research into the work. It can further increase your enjoyment and appreciation for it. Yet it is best done when you’re away from the art itself, so that even when you return, the work still feels fresh.
Anyone who thinks knowing some dates and details makes you better understand a work of art is wrong. We all need to put aside our screens and our supposed knowledge when we look at art. Let the paintings flow in; let your intuitions(直觉) fly off. Art is a journey in the wilderness or it is nothing at all.
62. What does the writer mainly want to say
A. Art is best with the help of apps. B. Art is best when hidden in mystery.
C. Art is nothing compared with nature. D. Art is nothing when details and facts are known.
63. The underlined word “braggarts” refers to(指)_________.
A. people who like showing off B. people who like baroque paintings
C. those who are good at appreciating art D. those who are good at painting with phones
64. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 4
A. How to appreciate a work of art.
B. How to personal research into a work of art.
C. How to keep your feelings about a work of art fresh.
D. How to be spoon-fed amazing facts about a work of art.
65. What can we infer(推断) from the passage
A. Because of apps, art will be ruined in the future.
B. A good piece of art is usually made about nature.
C. Research work and intuitions can both help understand art.
D. Museums are not supposed to allow the use of mobile phones.

八、阅读与回答问题 (10分)
Eight years ago, 1-week-old Diandian was left behind. When people found her in the reeds (芦苇) of a lake, she looked too weak to survive. Now she is the mother of three milu, thanks to the workers’ attention and care at the East Dongting Lake National Nature Reserve.
Li is the president of a milu conservation association in Yueyang and head of a local milu and bird rescue center, where 11 deer, including Diandian, have their families. Li and his workmates need to work extra hours to take care of the animals from March until mid-May. He remembers March 18 this year. He fed Diandian some fresh shoots and leaves for breakfast as usual, and moments later when he returned, a newborn milu was right beside her. Since it is her third baby and born in the third month of the year, people named it Sansan, referring to “three-three”. Li has developed a deep affection for milu and made up his mind to protect them. “As our country is paying more attention to environmental and wildlife protection, people are increasingly aware that milu are state-protected animalsm,” Li said.
Milu habitats (栖息地) are usually centered around water, and fishing equipment that used to be a threat to the animals is no longer seen in nature reserves. On May 27, a team of experts went to watch milu near Dongting Lake. It takes time and luck to meet one and count them especially when they live in the thick reeds that are 4 to 5 meters tall. The team leader Song, saw a milu for the first time when he was studying for his doctorate in zoology early in 2009. Since then, he has helped protect the habitats at Dongting Lake. As the flood season is coming, Song and his workmates will go around the lake area day and night to save deer in trouble, and provide feed for the animals when needed.
As the environment improves in and around Dongting Lake, China’s second-largest freshwater lake, the wetland has become cover once again for wildlife. “We will continue to protect these rare animals and their living environment,” Song said.
