Nothing beats live music, but the venue makes a difference. When you're able to score tickets to an incredible concert in an incredible place, you won't forget the experience. Here are some of the coolest music venues from around the world. If you haven't been to any of these, you've got some traveling to do.
Red Rocks, Morrison, the United States
Red Rocks might be the most beautiful and famous venue in the United States. At 6,450 feet above sea level, Red Rocks is a geologically formed natural stage. Its massive sandstone provides a perfect stage for jam bands. If you're into the blues and jazz, you'll have no trouble finding something in line with your interests.
Meet Factory, Prague, Czech Republic
Smallest venues on this list, Meet Factory is an art gallery, theater, and music venue. The venue only accommodates 1,000 people, so you won't see any huge names come through. Still, it's a great place to see up-and-coming local acts, and if you've got an eye for contemporary art, you'll love your time here.
Arena of N mes, N mes, France
Originally built around A.D.70, the Arena of Nimes presents concertgoers with an interesting question: Should they enjoy the music, or marvel at the architecture The Arena is, after all, one of the world's best-preserved Roman theaters. Many major touring acts plan stops at the Arena of Nimes, especially during the venue's annual festival.
Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia
The Sydney Opera House is one of the world's most famous performing venues. I's also one of the most distinctive buildings in Sydney, thanks to the breathtaking design by Danish architect Utzon. It hosts about 40 events per week, so whether you're into jazz, rock, classical music, or opera, you'll find something to watch.

Vegetarian foods are not equally healthy, according to a new research at ESC Congress 2020. Dr. Matina said, “This finding was more clear in women. A recent research has shown that women tend to eat more plant-based foods and less animal-based products than men. But our study suggests this does not ensure healthier food choices and in turn better health condition.
Most studies see plant-based diets simply as "vegetarian" or “low in meat”, thus treating all plant foods as equal. However, this study examined the type of plant-based foods eaten, in addition to the overall amount. Healthy plant-based products were made up of fruits, vegetables and coffee while unhealthy plant-based products included juices, potatoes and any kind of sweets.
The study examined the link between the quantity(数量)and quality of plant-based foods and heart health over a 10-year period. In 2011, the study selected 146 fat adults living in Athens with normal blood pressure and blood sugar. Diet was studied using a questionnaire about usual habits in the year. It listed 156 foods and drinks commonly had in Greece. Within ten years, nearly half of these fat participants developed high blood pressure and high blood sugar, though most of them preferred plant-based foods. The rest who ate quality plant- based foods, however , didn't have these health problems.
Regarding the quality of plant-based foods, healthier choices were linked with keeping normal blood pressure and blood sugar. On the contrary, eating unhealthy plant-based foods was connected with developing high blood pressure and high blood sugar. These relationships were stronger in women compared to men.
24. What did Dr. Matina say about the study
A. Vegetarian foods are unhealthy.
B. Men tend to choose healthier foods.
C. Women tend to eat less plant-based foods.
D. Not all plant-based foods can keep you fit.
25. What do we know about the participants in this study
A. Most of them living in Greece ate fatty foods.
B. They all had low blood pressure and blood sugar.
C. About half of them made healthier food choices.
D. Men were more likely to become worse in health condition.
26. What is the result of eating quality plant-based foods
A. It can help keep good health.
B. It has nothing to do with health.
C. It only benefits women's health.
D. It can make women stronger than men.
27. Which of the following is the best title for the text
A. Are All Vegetarian Diets Healthy
B. A Balanced Diet Is Good for Your Health
C. Plant-based Foods or Animal-based Products
D. The More Vegetarian Foods You Eat, the Healthier You Are

The secrets of dreaming are always interesting psychologists. It is known in the field that dreams people have during this time between childhood and full adulthood, that’s around 30, are the strongest and most influential. Yet not enough is known about the repeated patterns of dreaming. Researchers are still trying to answer a basic question: How does dreaming relate to the life experiences and developmental challenges
G. William Domhoff and Adam Schneider, at the University of California, help to answer this question by examining the lengthy dream series of two individuals, “Izzy” and “Jasmine”. Izzy provided a collection of 4, 329 dream reports from between the ages of 12 and 25, while Jasmine provided 664 dreams recorded between the ages of 14 and 25.
Large collections of dreams like these pose challenges to researchers. Until recently, the means of studying dream series was to employ a team of recorders who take the time to code each dream for a predetermined (预先确定) number of content categories, and then compare their results. Nowadays, digital technologies enable the analysis of language usage in dreams with high speed, accuracy, and objectivity. This marks a revolutionary advance in the science of dreaming. However, it can only lead so far.
To gain more specific and detailed insights, Domhoff and Schneider used word strings (词串) for each dreamer, mixing elements of traditional research with digital tools for analyzing large data sets. For Izzy these word strings included “family and relatives”, “celebrities” and “fantasy”, while the word strings they created for Jasmine included “familiar places”, “electrical equipment” and “music”. The researchers used these word strings to identify connections between their dreams and real lives. Surprisingly, the results of the analysis revealed a great deal of consistency (一致性) and continuity in both sets of dreams. Izzy pays much attention to pop culture, and has affection for famous actors. Jasmine is an accomplished musician and performer.
“The frequencies of dream elements show the intensity (强度) of the dreamer’s personal concern with that element in waking thought,” Domhoff and Schneider conclude. For anyone who still claims dreaming is only nonsense from the brain and mental world, these findings are hard to explain away.
28. What do psychologists agree with about dreams
A. Dreams are influenced by life experiences.
B. D reaming is nonsense from the brain.
C. Dreams in one’s teens and twenties are strongest.
D. The patterns of dreaming are usually repeated.
29. What does “it” underlined in paragraph 3 refer to
A. The collection of dreams. B. Research into dreaming.
C. The digital method. D. The challenge for psychologists.
30. How do the researchers conduct their study
A. By analyzing large data sets.
B. By developing individualized word strings.
C. By identifying the patterns of dreaming.
D. By making comparison with traditional research.
31. What can be the best title for the text
A. New tech, new finding. B. Dreams: reflections of waking reality
C. Lives, languages, dreams D. Life experiences: elements of mental world
D
The new year is the moment when people vow to improve their fitness. They join gyms, swear off alcohol and adopt healthier diets. These resolutions usually do not last beyond January.
But some employers try to help their workers stick to their goals by offering “wellness” programmes. One of the longest-running examples began in 1979 at Johnson& Johnson (j & j), an American health-care company. The plan promotes weight loss, smoking quitting and efforts to reduce blood pressure.
The firm claims it reduced medical costs by $400 an employee per year, and resulted in fewer workers suffering from heart disease or high blood pressure. Yet an examination of the data by Martin Cherniack of the University of Connecticut found that in 2005-08, a sharp jump in alcohol use, depression and stress among j & j employees occurred. This was in line with a period when the firm had a target of lifting productivity by 9% a year. So the employees may have been fitter, but it is possible that workplace pressure to produce more meant greater stress.
All this suggests that employee well-being is a rather more complex topic than can be tackled by a programme devoted to exercise and healthy living. A study by Rand Europe, a research institute, found that obvious bad habits such as smoking and high alcohol use were in fact not associated with lower productive, while obese workers were no more likely to take time off than anyone else. The biggest productivity problems were associated with lack of sleep, financial concerns and mental-health issues-factors that may well be directly linked to work-related stress.
It seems reasonable for companies to expect some level of economic return from any wellness programme that they provide. But the trade-off should not be too blatant. Making employees fitter so you can work them a lot harder seems rather like drilling your infantry on a course before sending them to face the machine guns. A better impact on morale (and thus productivity) might occur if workers felt that their managers had a genuine interest in their welfare.
32. What can we learn from the example of Johnson & Johnson
A. A wellness program contributes to higher productivity.
B. A wellness program alone can't achieve the desired effect.
C. Many companies show much concern about their employee's health.
D. A health program may result in bad consequences.
33. What does the study by Rand Europe indicate
A. Good living habits help improve motivation.
B. Work-related pressure plays a vital role in low productivity.
C. Financial concerns have nothing to do with productivity.
D. Obesity is associated with lower attendance in the workplace.
34. What does the underlined word “blatant” mean
A. Obvious. B. Effective. C. Challenging. D. Flexible.
35. What’s the purpose of this text
A. To compare various factors affecting productivity.
B. To introduce a new way of increasing productivity.
C. To appeal to employers to improve their health care program.
D. To question some seemingly effective practice in business management.
