It’s school time again! You’re probably feeling excited and maybe a little sad that summer vacation is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared on the first day of school because of all the new things: new teachers, new friends, and even a new school. Luckily, these “new” worries only stick around for a little while. Let’s find out more about going to a new school.
Most teachers kick off the new school year by introducing themselves and talking about all the things you’ll be doing this year. Some teachers give students a chance to tell something about themselves to the rest of the class, too. When teachers do the talking on the first day, they often go over classroom rules and school rules so you’ll know what’s allowed and what’s not. Please pay close attention.
You might already know a lot of people in your class on the first day, but it’s a great day to make a new friend, so try to say hello to kids you know and new ones that you don’t. Make the first move and you’ll be glad about what you did, and so will your new friends!
Seeing friends you haven’t seen in a while can make the first day a good one. You can make the day feel special by wearing clothes that you really like. Maybe you got a great T-shirt on one of your vacations, or a pair of sneakers. It can also make you feel good to be prepared and have all the things you need, such as pencils, folders, and whatever else you’ll be needing. But make sure that you pack them the night before in case you don’t have time in the morning.
21. What new things do you need to face except for
A. New teachers. B. New friends. C. New school. D. New activities
22. The underlined phrase “kick off” in the second paragraph probably means “______”.
A. Start B. Study C. Find D. teach
23. According to the passage you usually do everything on the first day of school EXCEPT ______.
A. introduce yourself B. learn about the school rules
C. make new friends D. go over your new lessons

In business, as in life, good leaders hope for the best and plan for the worst. There’s a reason that experts refer to the regular expansion and contraction of the economy as the business cycle.
Even producers of the most recession-proof products—toiletries, beer, funeral services—need to consider how rising and falling consumer sentiment will affect their bottom line.
Of course, timing the next downturn is easier said than done. So as we head into a new year, we reached out to the Fast Company Impact Council—a leadership group of 200 founders, executives, and creatives—to gauge how some of the smartest and most innovative people in business are thinking about a possible recession.
About 4 in 10 respondents told us they expect the global economy in 2020 to perform about the same. But remarkably, nearly 45% predicted that the next 12 months would be worse for business. Only 16% said that the global economy would be better.
Impact Council members were more like-minded about the timing of the next downturn. While 21% predicted a recession would hit in 2020, the majority (54%) said it would likely arrive in 2021, after the next presidential election. About 15% responded that the next recession would come in 2022. Only 1 in 10 said the economy would continue to grow until 2023 or later.
24. In business, what is a good leader hope for
A. Earn lots of money as possible. B. Make the best plan for the worst.
C. Sell out the whole products. D. Predict the economic trends in the future.
25. How many people predict global economy in 2020 will be better
A. nearly 45%. B. less than 15%. C. over 54%. D. only 16%.
26. When will the economy most likely grow again
A. In 2020. B. In 2021. C. In 2022 . D. In 2023.
27. What is the best title for this passage
A. Predict about the future economy. B. the growth of the future economy.
C. Recession in economy. D. How to be a good economic leader .

On Saturday, Huawei Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou, who was detained by the Canadian police, left Canada for home. According to reports, she took a charter flight organized by the Chinese government, and will soon return to her home country and reunite with her family.
For 33 months and 19 days, the US Department of "Justice" had forced an innocent Chinese citizen to be under close monitoring that she never deserved. The tracking bracelet Meng wore on her ankle is not a shame on her, but a shame on dirty US politics that abused the word "justice".
It is also a shame(羞愧) on the Canadian government, which always followed the steps of its southern neighbor. To please the latter, Canada detained an innocent Chinese citizen under a false charge. Now Meng's deferred prosecution(起诉) agreement with the US Department of Justice without confessing any guilt further proves how false that charge was.
Behind that false charge is the US intention of "containing" Chinese high-tech enterprises. If Huawei has done anything wrong, it must be that it has been performing so good that the US cannot tolerate any competitor to its industries. Yet Huawei did not fail even under US pressure. In 2019, after Meng's detainment, Huawei's share in the global smartphone market reached 17.6 percent, exceeding that of Apple. Huawei has not buckled under the pressure; It has firmly defended its position by doing its businesses legally.
Meng's regaining freedom would not be possible without the unremitting efforts of her homeland. For 33 months, the Chinese government has repeatedly asked US and Canada to drop the political case, while Chinese media outlets relentlessly worked to tell the truth to the world; Chinese people also voiced their support to Meng via social networks.
For all those who do business with global partners, the homeland will render firm support to them when necessary should they need to seek justice . Any political persecution to Chinese enterprises (企业)overseas will fail.
32. How long did the Meng Wanzhou be arrested in Canada
A. Half a year. B. Two years.
C. For 33 months and 19 days. D. One year.
33. What is the meaning of underlined part
A. US cannot tolerate any competitor to its industries.
B. Huawei has not buckled under the pressure.
C. Huawei did not fail even under US pressure.
D. Huawei's share in the global smartphone market exceeding that pf Apple.
34. What does the passage reveal
A. Huawei is a famous smart phone company in the world.
B. The China will render firm support to Chinese global companies.
C. Meng Wanzhou has already come back China.
D. Meng Wanzhou is a national hero.
35. What is the best title of this text
A. Welcome Meng Wanzhou come back home.
B. Thanks to China.
C. Never give up.
D. Every thing will be better.

A. Start B. Study C. Find D. teach

A. introduce yourself B. learn about the school rules
C. make new friends D. go over your new lessons

C Huawei did not fail even under US pressure.

I could never play football or basketball well.

I don’t know what made me decide to try some new activities at the new school, but one day I chanced to show up for an after-school meeting of the Science Olympiad team.I had always been fascinated with chemistry, biology, and math, but since those interests hadn’t fit Tyson’s definition of “cool”, I had never pursued them.On this day, for some reason, I did.
Paragraph 2: As we organized teams, prepared resources and practiced answering questions, I felt more connected than I ever had to any sports team.

【答案】Paragraph 1:
I probably would have continued trying to keep up with him for the rest of my high school career, but when my family moved, everything changed.Tyson left for college, so I had to start at a new school all by myself. This new start gave me an opportunity to redefine myself and discover an entirely new version of “cool”.
Paragraph 2:
As we organized teams, prepared resources and practiced answering questions, I felt more connected than I ever had to any sports team. I didn’t feel as though I needed to keep up with anybody else; I was finally with peers who understood me. It was so good to feel accepted for what I’m good at. For the first time in my life, I actually felt cool. Now I know who I am! I’m Tyson’s little brother, but that’s only part of my identity. I’m a cool guy in my own way, too. I’m relieved to know that “cool” has a much broader definition than what I used to think.
