阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
When it comes to transportation in New York City, most people choose yellow cabs or the affordable subway system. But I've realised that biking is one of the best ways to see the city. It can be a kind of workout, and it can also be such a great way to discover new places and really enjoy the journey throughout the city. Here are a few of my favourite routes, tips, and tricks.
Central Park Loop(环线)
The 6.1 mile loop is a standard for city cyclists of all fitness levels. A comfortable place in the middle of crowded Manhattan, the Central Park Loop is a great way to cycle without worrying about taxi doors suddenly opening or dealing with car traffic. There are so many ponds, lakes and complex bridges that you won't spot on a picnic in Sheep Meadow.
Prospect Park Loop
It's like Central Park but without tourists. My boyfriend and I regularly bike down to Prospect Park to do the loop, and it's my favourite way to relax after a stressful day. Prospect Park was designed by the same man who did Central Park, so there are a lot of similarities—gently rolling hills, plenty of shade, lakes, and ponds.
Governors Island
Governors Island is one of the few spaces in the New York City area where there are basically no cars! While the island is easy enough to walk around, it's not that big. But it's just big enough to make a few loops really enjoyable.
Manhattan Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge might be the famous one. And the Williamsburg Bridge is a necessity for people, but the slope(斜坡) makes it easy to take exercise. Manhattan Bridge isn't much of a looker, but it's my favourite bridge to bike across: fairly easy incline, good views.
21. The underlined word “workout” in Paragraph 1 can be replaced by “____”.
A. experiment B. exercise C. plan D. idea
22. What makes the Williamsburg Bridge suitable to exercise
A. A road that inclines. B. Having no bus to take.
C. Being difficult to walk. D. Many bikes for people to ride.
23. Which of the following might serve as the best title for this passage
A. The Best Biking Routes in New York City
B. Transportation in New York City
C. Biking Can Be a Kind of Workout
D. How to See the City Better
B
An old and very rich friend of mine told me he had an unpleasant experience. He went to a famous jewellery shop and asked to be shown some gold necklaces. After examining several minutes, he decided to buy a gold necklace with a precious diamond, and asked if he could pay by cheque(支票). The assistant said that was quite in order, but the moment my friend signed his name, he was invited into the manager's office. The manager was very polite, but he explained that someone with exactly the same name had given them a worthless cheque not long ago. My friend got very angry when he heard this and said that he would buy a diamond necklace somewhere else. When he got up to go, the manager told him that the police would arrive at any moment and he had better stay unless he wanted to get into serious trouble. Sure enough, the police arrived soon afterwards. They were polite, too, but explained that a person who had used the same name as his was responsible for a number of recent robberies. Then the police asked my friend to copy out a note which had been used by the thief in a number of stores. The note read,“I have a gun in my pocket. Ask no question and give me all the money in the drawer.”
Luckily, my friend's handwriting was quite unlike the thief's. He was not only allowed to go without further delay, but also to take the diamond necklace with him.
24. After the man heard what the manager said, he _____.
A. got very angry and left at once
B. went out to buy a diamond necklace somewhere else
C. insisted on staying until the police came
D. thought that he had nothing to do with the stealing
25. The police were polite, too, because ______.
A. they didn't think the man was a thief
B. the man was old and very rich
C. they were not sure whether the man was the thief they wanted
D. they doubted the man was responsible for a number of recent robberies
26. Which of the following is suggested(暗示) in the passage
A. Though my friend had some trouble, he got the necklace without paying cash.
B. Nobody saw my friend take the necklace with him.
C. The manager never thought an old man would be a thief.
D. The thief always stole things in famous jewellery shops.

Is there a way to turn back the clock on your age A new study says yes. Exercise can make you look younger. At least it can lower your fitness age—that is the measure of how well your body works.
A study of athletes in the National Senior Games found that their fitness age was more than 20 years younger than their chronological age. The games took place in the Midwestern state of Minnesota.
Tony Diamond took part in the games. Every morning he went to a local park and walked fast for an hour. Then, the retired navy captain ran for an hour.
Two or three times a week, he went to a gym for muscle(肌肉) training. Mr. Diamond won three medals at the 2015 National Senior Games.
“My current age is 86 years old, and my fitness age is 44. I think I am in such good physical condition because I do a lot of exercise during my life. I have been exercising since I was a little boy,” said Mr. Diamond.
“I'm 62 years old and my fitness results showed that I was 32 years,” said Ms White.
Ms. White and Mr. Diamond are some of the 5,000 Senior Games participants who took part in the fitness age study.
Pamela Peeke was an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Maryland. She worked on the study with Ulrik Wisloff at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Mr Wisloff developed a fitness calculator.
An online calculator is available for anyone to use for free. Ms. Peeke says there are benefits from attending this test.
The National Senior Games take place every two years. They are the competition for athletes older than 50. The games include a variety of sports.
This year the average age of the people competing was 68. But their average fitness age was 43.
27. What can make us look younger
A. Taking exercise. B. Becoming an athlete.
C. Walking fast every day. D. Going to the park every day.
28. What’s the meaning of the underlined words “chronological age” in Paragraph 2
A. Mental age. B. Psychological age.
C. Actual age. D. Full age.
29. The example of Tony Diamond is used to ________.
A. support the main idea of the passage
B. prove more people like taking exercise
C. encourage more people to take exercise
D. show many people pay attention to beauty
30. From the passage we may safely draw a conclusion that ________.
A. the faster you walk, the healthier you are
B. the older you are, the more exercise you need
C. the more active you are, the younger you look
D. the more exercise you take, the longer you live

第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
When I was about 12, I had an enemy, a girl who liked to point out my shortcomings. Week by week, little by little, her list grew: I was very thin; I wasn't a good student; I talked too much; I was too proud; I didn't like to help others; I didn't finish my homework; I didn't care for anyone and so on. I tried to hear all these as long as I could. At last, I became very angry. And I was too upset and didn't know what to do next. I felt I was the worst girl in the world. Life was hard for me at that time. I ran to my father with tears in my eyes for help.
He listened to me quietly, and then he asked, “Are the things she said true or not Janet, didn't you ever wonder what you're really like Well, you now have that girl's opinion. That is a good thing. Go and make a list of everything she said and mark the points that are true. Pay no attention to the other things she said. That is OK.”
Then I did as my father told me. To my great surprise, I discovered that about half of the things she said to me were true. Some of them I couldn't change (like being very thin), but a good number of the things I could—and suddenly I wanted to change. For the first time I go to fairly clear picture of myself. I never feel upset now.
I brought the list back to Daddy. He refused to look at it. I felt very surprised.

Dear_Peter,
I'm_very_glad_to_talk_about_Chinese_with_you. As you know, more and more people in the world are learning Chinese so that you are interested in it too. In my opinion, if you want to learn Chinese well, you should practice more spoken Chinese every day just like English. And you can also watch Chinese movies and listen to Chinese songs. You must keep on, which is important for success.
Besides, the best way to learn Chinese is to come to China, and we can chat in Chinese, or sometimes in English.
I'm_looking_forward_to_your_coming_to_China.
Yours,
Li_Hua
Paragraph 1:
“That's just for you,” he said. “You know better than anyone else the truth about yourself. But you have to learn to listen, not just close your ears, feeling angry and upset. When something someone said about you is true, you'll find it will be of help to you. Our world is full of people who think they know your duty. Don't shut your ears. Listen to them all, but hear the truth and do what you know is the right thing.”
Paragraph 2:
Daddy's advice has returned to me at many important moments. In my life, I've never had a better piece of advice. Rivers push me to the vast sea; the dawn brings me bright morning; my dear daddy, you help me a lot. It is you who lead me to a magnificent life. Thank you for illuminating my voyage of life with your own light of life. And my grateful sentiment comes from the bottom of my heart.
