课程简介
Unit13 We’re trying to save the earth.出自人教版九年级全一册, 围绕环境污染与保护的话题,引导学生复习初中所学关键句型,重点突破被动语态与现在完成时。所执教的班级学生基础较为薄弱,但学习英语兴趣较为浓厚。他们在本单元Section A 已接触了各种环境污染的实例,了解到了目前环境污染的严重性,也在课文的引导下思考解决问题的办法。本部分呈现了被动语态和现在完成时在日常交际中的真实运用,帮助学生深层次理解被动语态中阐述的事物关系以及相互影响;引导学生理解现在完成时表示过去发生或已经完成的动作对现在的影响,掌握其表意功能和具体的用法。Section B进一步讨论保护环境,在传统的环保基础上,加上个人的创新: 一是意识的改变,一切资源皆有用,不可浪费;二是方法的创新,用自己的智慧变废为宝,创意回收。同时通过文本进一步加强学生对目标语言结构被动语态与现在完成时的理解与运用。
本堂阅读课的授课内容为Section B中的2a-2e的长篇阅读Rethink, Reuse, Recycle。文章开门见山直抛问题“Do you often throw away things you don’t need anymore ”引出观点“Nothing is a waste if you have a creative mind.” 作者分别介绍了Amy Hayes,Jessica Wong以及Wang Tao 的故事倡导充分利用资源,创意回收,智慧环保。教学步骤中设计了思维导图,回答问题,填写表格,相互提问,复述文章,迁移展示等教学活动,且引入了一个重要的阅读策略,通过了解前缀和后缀帮助扫清阅读时的生词障碍,促使学生更顺畅地阅读,掌握文章主旨大意。

教学步骤:
Step 1. Lead-in
Greet.
The teacher greets with the students:
Good morning, everyone. How are you I’d like to treat one lucky student to coffee.
How do you like the coffee
Look at the used paper cup. Should we throw it away
How should we deal with the used paper cup
Play a video about recycling used paper cups.
Before watching, the teacher says:
What are the paper cups made into
What do you think of this way of recycling
Ask students to talk about the way of recycling in the video to revise some words and passive voice.
A possible conversation between the teacher and a student:
T: What are the paper cups made into
S: They are made into card-board boxes..
T: What do you think this way of recycling
S: I think it’s very good for the environment.
Lead students to talk about new ways to recycle old things.
The teacher shows some art works made of used paper cups by the students.
The teacher tells students:
Look. This beautiful lamp is made of used paper cups. They have been put to good use. ( Show the lamp made of used paper cups)
In this way, the teacher can help students to learn some new words and expressions,review passive voice and present perfect tense. What’s more, they can have a brief understanding of creative recycling.
设计意图:创设情境,切入主题。由打招呼开始,到请学生喝咖啡拉近学生的距离。学生在老师的带领下逐渐克服胆怯与拘谨,大方地品尝咖啡做出点评。由现实情境切入,实现自然破冰。接着教师询问 How do we deal with the used paper cup 引发学生深层次的思考,然后观看视频引出话题。在谈论如何处理使用过的纸杯时复习被动语态与现在完成时,同时引出本节课的话题,创意回收,变废为宝。
Step 2:Pre-read
Give some pictures and lead students to have a discussion about creative recycling.
The teacher asks:
What are they made of
What are the three things in common
Then show three pictures from the text book.Teach some new words such as iron, gate, bottle, rocks, metal, recycling and so on.
Get students to talk about creative recycling.
The teacher can choose one student to make a conversation as an example first, like:
T: What is this
S: It’s a bag.
T: What’s it made of
S: It’s made of old clothes.
T: How do you deal with old clothes in your family
S: We give them away to other people or throw them away.
Then get students to ask and answer about different ways of dealing with old things.
Next, choose several pairs to show their conversations.
There are a lot of useless old things. If we rethink and reuse and recycle, they can be useful. Nothing is a waste if we have a creative mind.
2. Enable students to have a brief understanding of prefixes and suffixes.
The teacher asks:
Today we are going to read a passage. Can you tell me the title:
Ss: Rethink, Reuse, Recycle
T: Rethink means think again. Reuse means use again. And recycle means cycle again. Can you tell me the prefix “re” mean
Ss: It means again.
T: That’s right. Prefixes such as “re-” usually change the meaning of words. Suffixes such as “-tion” usually change the part of speech of words.
设计意图:读前活动,引导学生利用非文本信息——标题与图片预测文章内容,初步了解文章,从平常教学中培养学生阅读应用文所需的阅读技巧与能力。同时根据课文标题引出本课的阅读策略——理解前缀和后缀如何改变词的含义与词性。
Step 3. While-read
Scanning
1). Enable students to scan and match the people with their activities.

The teacher leads students to check the answers :

设计意图:读中活动,先让学生扫读文章,将文章的人物与事迹进行配对配对,了解文章后三段的主要内容,再跳读第一段找到文章的中心句,了解作者通过三个人物的实例想要表达的观点。接下来,逐段阅读,通过分段阅读后完成思维导图,回答问题,填写表格,相互提问等教学过程,有效地引导学生抓住各段落的主要信息,学会关注篇章中的重点词汇和句式结构,强化学生的记忆。另外,不同层次的练习也有助于巩固学生对目标语言的理解和运用,实现对重难点句型的理解和突破。最后的相互提问环节,学生先在小组内实行组内问答,再到全班探讨。老师转换角色,主动退出,将话语权交给学生。让学生从被动的接受者,到主动的参与者与评判者,在老师的引导下实现对文章重难点的突破,对文章倡导的创意回收智慧环保的思想的内化。
