3.Scientists are now trying to make robots look like humans and do the same things as we do. Some robots in Japan can walk and dance. They are fun to watch. However, some scientists believe that although we can make robots move like people, it will be difficult to make them really think like a human. For example, scientist James White thinks that robots will never be able to wake up and know where they are. But many scientists disagree with Mr. White. They think that robots will even be able to talk like humans in 25 to 50 years.

Our future robot’s name is Andrew. It will look like a doctor. It can examine patients (病人) and take good care of them . When patients lose hope, the robot doctor tries his best to make them happy and hopeful.

【解读】human n.人。表示区别于其他动物或神的“人”。作名词时为可数名词,其复数形式为humans。【辨析】person泛指一切人,包括男女老幼,既有单数,也有复数形式。people意为“人,人们,人民”, 可用some,many等修饰。表示复数意义。people 在句中用作主语时,谓语动词为复数形式。 people 在俗语中还作“家人,亲属”解。

A lot of people go to enjoy the cool under the big tree every evening.
Today there are already robots working in factories.
【解读】“There be+ sb./sth.+doing sth.”表示“有某人或某物正在做某事”,该句型常用来强调动作,一般对进行时态进行强调。
【拓展】 “There must be sb./sth.doing sth.+地点” 表示“某处一定有某人/某物在做某事”。There is no doing…意思是“(口语)不可能……”。

【解读】此句中的get bored 译为“ 感到厌烦，感到无聊”。其同义词为：be bored
二者的区别：get bored强调动作； be bored 强调状态
英语中有很多过去分词或形容词都可以和get, be 连用。比如：tired，angry 等。

【解读】try to do sth.意为“尽力去做某事”，侧重尽力，为了达到目的而努力。也可以说成try one’s best to do sth.。try doing sth.意为“尝试做某事”，只是一种尝试，并没有一定明显的目的性。
make sb.do sth.使某人做某事。使役动词make和see,hear,listen to,look at,watch,notice 等感官动词都接不带to的不定式作宾补。help后可带to,也可不带to。

But many scientists disagree with Mr. White.However, they agree it may take hundreds of years.
【解读】hundreds of意为“数以百计的”，用于笼统的数量。当hundred为复数时，前面不可与具体数字连用，并在后面接“of＋可数名词复数”。hundred,表示具体的数量，意为“一百”，当hundred前有具体数字修饰时，只能用单数。类似的还有thousands of成千上万的,millions of几百万的等。
