短文改错:
Dear Sir or Madam,
I’m writing to complain about the poor service I receive when I traveled with your airline on 30th January. I flew from London to New York on flight TMN 108 and I was completely disappointing.
The service was very slow but careless. When I asked for a glass of water, that took the flight attendant half an hour to bring one. To make matter worse, the glass which she brought were dirty. What’s more, the food was cold and tasted terribly.
I am very much dissatisfied indeed. I would like ∧apology. I hope to hear about you as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully,
Ken Hampton
Dear Sir or Madam,
I’m more than pleased to learn that volunteers are wanted for the Winter Olympic Games, which is to be held in Beijing. I’m writing to apply for the position.
I’m Li Hua, presently studying in Wanzhou High School and I’m convinced that I’m qualified to be the required volunteer. First of all, I’m outgoing, which makes it possible for me to get along well with others. Besides, I regularly go skiing with friends, equipping me with enough knowledge to be a qualified volunteer. In addition, I normally participate in a variety of beneficial voluntary activities, which makes me more experienced than others. I’d appreciate it if you could take my application into consideration.
I am looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

W: Of course. Here are three kinds: one-month membership, three-month membership and
six-month membership. Which would you like
M: I think I will pick the shortest one.
Text 3
W: Sir, shall we hand in the report immediately
M: Take your time. I’d like to see your report about how to manage your department well after we hold the meeting about the plan for the whole company.
Text 4
M: When did you send the package, Daisy
W: You asked me to send it last Sunday, but I forgot about it. I sent it this Monday morning. And it will arrive before Wednesday.
Text 5
W: The shirt fits you perfectly. Have you bought it recently
M: Actually, I bought it from a new department store three weeks ago. Now the weather gets hot enough for me to wear it.
Text 6
M: Can I help you
W: Yes. I know Chinese tea is famous all over the world. My friend wants me to take some for him.
M: There are various kinds of tea in our shop. Which kind do you prefer
W: Well, I don’t know Chinese tea at all.
M: We have black tea and dark tea. It has a strong taste.
W: Sounds interesting. What about this one
M: It’s green tea. It is good for your lungs.

M: I guess it will be expensive.
W: They are offering a discount because we live locally.
M: How much of a discount

W: But you also get a 20% discount at the hotel. I’ve used it when my parents come to visit. They love the fruit and the view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the window of their room.

M: Just a minute. I do apologize, madam. It’s indeed our own fault. Well, would you like us to have the right size shirt sent to you
W: Yes, I’d like to, but I’m planning to go travelling this weekend and expect to wear it then.

The city of Richmond announced that Roscoe Burnems would become the city's first poet laureate(桂冠诗人), a poet recognized for achievements in poetry.
During his two-year term as a poet laureate, Burnems is responsible for being a poetry advocate by providing access to poetry throughout the city and offering opportunities to use the power of words to heal wounds, open hearts and minds, and bring people closer together. He has the freedom to create and develop his own projects during his term and will receive a $4,000 annual bonus.
Burnems' love of poetry began at an early age when he was struggling against depression. His English teacher recommended him to read poetry, which later brought him a peaceful mental state and helped him recover from depression. He soon decided that poetry was something he would run after for his lifetime. “People gravitate to poetry because they can find themselves in the poems,” he says. “It allows readers to feel the emotional part of our experiences.”
He says poetry is a great platform to discuss mental health, depression and the emotional stresses that come with daily life. Relieving those stresses is central to some of the work he does with young people. Last year, Burnems started a youth poetry producing competition for local high school students.
Burnems says he loves and supports different types of art, and his next move is to explore poetry through cooperation across media. Richmond's paintings on the wall are a good example. He says, “Richmond is getting known for these beautiful paintings on display across the city, and I want to add a literary component to that.”
24. What is Burnems' responsibility as a poet laureate
A. Creating more good poems. B. Developing his own projects.
C. Spreading the power of poetry. D. Bringing poetry lovers together.
25. Why did Burnems develop a great passion for poetry
A. Poetry made him more confident. B. Poetry helped him through a tough time.
C. He was influenced by his English teacher. D. He viewed writing poems as a lifelong career.
26. What does the underlined phrase “gravitate to” in Paragraph 3 probably mean
A. take pride in. B. be used to. C. break away from. D. be attracted by.
27. What is Burnems going to do in the near future
A. To shift his focus to paintings. B. To combine poetry with other arts.
C. To hold more poetry competitions. D. To help youth with mental problems.

If you live near a park, you’ve probably observed this unique squirrel behavior. As winter approaches, these creatures begin what looks like preparation for a wide scavenger(觅食)hunt. In great numbers, these squirrels begin to bury nuts! This kind of behavior raises a lot of questions for squirrel enthusiasts—the most pressing being how the squirrels find their nuts again. Eastern gray squirrels, in particular, bury their nuts far and wide. Scientists themselves aren’t even quite sure of everything that goes into this hiding behavior, but they have some ideas.
For one, scientists have observed gray squirrels frequently burying and reburying their nuts. The scientists assumed that this behavior was to help always keep a fresh memory of the nuts! locations. However, it’s not only memory that the squirrels need to combat(战斗)in order to find their nuts! The gray squirrel community is rampant(猖獗的)with nut stealing. The squirrels can lose up to 25% of their hidden nuts to such thieves! Luckily, the squirrels have developed some clever methods to protect their nuts. Scientists have observed the squirrels creating false caches(储藏)in order to trick thieves. If the squirrels are worried about thieves, they will also start to hide their nuts in difficult-to-reach places(like under bushes or in muddy areas).
While it might be frustrating for squirrels to lose their carefully hidden nuts, it can be beneficial for other organisms. In particular, it can help the forest itself! A study done at the University of Richmond reports that squirrels fail to recover up to 74% of the nuts they bury. This misplacing of so many acorns (the seeds of oak trees), the study says, is likely responsible for oak forest regeneration. When squirrels misplace these buried acorns, they allow for these seeds to eventually grow into full oak trees! The squirrels’ habit of widespread caching is also important to the growth of the forest, as it allows the genetic(基因的)information to spread far.
What seemed like a harmless scavenger hunt is actually part of an endless complex ecosystem in our forests!
28.In what aspect do squirrels puzzle people most
A.The way they search for food. B.The places they hide in winter.
C.The location of their hidden food. D.The way they recover hidden nuts
29.What can we learn about the gray squirrels
A.They often fight with each other for food. B.They tend to feel more secure in bushy places.
C.They are cautious about storing food for winter. D.They survive largely thanks to their team spirit.
30.What’s the message conveyed in the third paragraph
A.Squirrels can starve due to lack of food. B.It can be beneficial that squirrels lose their nuts.
C.It’s easy to get squirrels’ genetic information. D.Squirrels always misplace their nuts deliberately.
31.Which can be the best title for the text
A.Why do squirrels steal nuts B.How do squirrels survive the winter
C.The secrets behind squirrels’ burying nuts. D.The ecosystem in the forest.

When you are asked to draw a picture, in spite of your best effort, you can’t make it look like the model shown. Then you may have thought, “I don’t have a creative bone in my body.”
According to some scientists, who for the past 20 years have studied the complex subject of creativity through a series of research strictly, you are underrating yourself. Da Vinci you may never be, but when it comes to creativity, we are all somewhat blessed. It’s learning to develop this unique tool of extraordinary productivity, and then applying it in everything you do, that counts to tell you from figures like Da Vinci.
“Even if we don’t have the good fortune to discover a new chemical element or write a
great story, the love of the creative process for its own sake is available to all,” says Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in Creativity: Flow and Psychology of Discovery and Invention.
Most people believe the ability of creativity has been awarded to those considered to have
special talent. We look upon these “creative geniuses”, as we often call them, with respect and a bit of envy. Their abilities, most people assume, are due to good genes, or, as if in Greek mythology ( 神 话 ), from some kind of god’s inspiration.
There is no argument that the world is never short of highly talented and creative people. They are masters of their trades and stand heads-and-shoulders above common people, making new pathways for others to follow, and providing greater context and understanding of our world. It could be said that without creativity, humanity would not evolve so rapidly.
But like a publicly recognized creative baseball player who possesses his skill through years of continuous training, foregoing other pursuits for the only passion, people who show the slightest unwillingness for challenging labor will witness their boasted (吹嘘的) ability disappear.
After closely studying 91 creative and influential people, including novelists, playwrights, composers, musicians and scientists, Csikszentmihalyi concludes that no one would ignore the sweat they shed and their almost crazy willingness to follow their creative effort to the very end, wherever that may be. These are the very things we all can master, so long as we’d like to.
It’s widely believed that creativity comes from .
some kind of god from Greek B. the inborn genes or relevant gifts
C.the tool we learn from masters like Da Vinci D. good training people receive from artistic classes
Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage
People don’t think that the world is never short of highly talented people.
People’s admiration of geniuses makes humanity develop quickly.
The field of baseball requires more gifts than hard work.
Creativity lies in devotion and effort.
The underlined word “foregoing” in Paragraph 6 is closest in meaning to .
giving up B. combining C. referring to D. extending
35. What is the passage mainly about
A. People’s misunderstanding of creativity and its true nature.
B. The reasons for the success of those who possess creativity.
C. Creative people view things differently from ordinary people.
D. Ordinary people’s unwillingness to follow the examples of creative ones.
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项多余。
It is generally believed that money can’t buy happiness. However, that may not be always true. According to a recent article, in the last few years, a new research has given us a far deeper understanding of the relationship between what we earn and how we feel. Generally speaking, people with higher incomes are happier than those who struggle to get by. But it also shows you need to spend wisely if you expect those bank notes to put a smile on your face. 36
1. Buy experiences, not material goods.
In a recently published study. Professor Ryan at San Francisco State University in the US, found that when people don’t have much money to spare, they tend to stick to material goods. 37 But they in fact provide both more happiness and more lasting value.
2. 38
No matter how much money you spend on something and how special that product is, you will get used to having it over time and lose interest in it. With the same money you spend on one big thing, you can buy many little things. Buying small things means you can get frequent small pleasures.
3. Be sure to buy time.
39 For example, that big house in the suburbs may seem like a good idea, but a 2014 study by researchers from University of Zurich in Switzerland found that people with longer time on the way had lower life satisfaction, all other things being equal.
4. Try giving it away.
Elizabeth Dunn, a professor at the University of British Columbia in Canada, found that in nations as diverse (多样化) as Canada, South Africa and Uganda, giving away money consistently made people happier. 40
A. Be sure to buy what you like.
B. Here are some ways to better spend your money.
C. Buy lots of little things, rather than one big thing.
D. There are a lot of reasons someone might buy something.
E. People think experiences only provide temporary happiness.
F. This was even true when people giving away were relatively poor.
G. Consider how the things you buy will affect how you spend your time.
