Not having done physical exercise for some time, I found myself a little low-spirited and couldn't study efficiently, so I decided to do some running the next day. At 6:15 the next morning, my alarm clock rang. Unwilling to rise from my bed, I turned it off and went back to sleep. However, 5 minutes later, I struggled to get up. After washing and brushing, I had my sneakers on and went out.
Wow! The air was so fresh that I couldn't help breathing it deeply. I stretched (伸展)my arms and legs, then started to run. I found all things around me were so attractive. Look, the branches were waving, as if they were welcoming me; the blossoming flowers were bowing, with shyness, just like girls. Listen, the wind was whispering, as if to say “come on, girl”. What's more interesting was those two birds, perching in the tree. They were scared and flew away when I passed them. “Hey, chaps, relax.” I shouted without stopping running. “Let's enjoy the beautiful morning together!” Then miracle(奇迹) happened. The two little creatures seemed to understand what I said. They turned back and twittered(吱吱叫) around me. “Are you singing for me ” I asked. They twittered again and again, sounded like “Yes”. I was delighted to hear that. Ah, what a wonderful morning and how beautiful life is!
Actually, there are a lot of charming things around us. Helen Keller wrote in her famous article Three Days to See, “The seeing see little”. Indeed, many of us ignore the beauty around us, just because we are familiar with them. They always complain that life is boring. But, I just want to say, if you live each day with appreciation of things around, you'll find life is very charming. So, let's enjoy life from now on.

making herself more active

A. People who can see hardly find the beauty of nature.
B. Those who can see enjoy nature much more than the blind.

40. The purpose of the writer in writing this passage is to tell us that _____.
A. the nature in the morning is very beautiful

ONE of Britain's favorite pastimes, gardening is to be celebrated during the Olympics. Last week, the Olympics minister Tessa Jowell announced a public competition to design a typically British garden within London's new Olympic park.
Jowell said the idea behind the competition was to show off to the world one of the nation's favorite hobbies. It's likely the government also hopes that the competition will inspire more Brits to take an interest in the Olympics. It's a good plan, as the British love gardens almost as much as they love tea.
In many ways gardening defines Brits, perhaps because they are some of the world’s keenest gardeners. The garden is seen as a private place in the UK. Most Brits would far rather sit in their garden than visit a park. They see their garden as an extension of their house outdoors, which is why so many Brits are as garden-proud as they are house-proud. There also seems to be something about the nourishing(滋养的) act of gardening that appeals to the nation’s gentle temperament(气质).
Interestingly, gardening has never been as widely enjoyed as it is today in Britain. Its growing popularity is no doubt due to people’s increased awareness of the environment and the success of several popular gardening programs.
Historically, Brits are also skilful gardeners. As Jowell noted when she made her announcement, if gardening were an Olympic sport then green-fingered Brits “would win gold, silver and bronze.”
Of course, the irony(讽刺) of Brits’ passion for gardening is that their climate is so wet that there are very few months in the year they can sit outside and enjoy their gardens. In fact, it may be the very valuableness of these few warm months that make gardens so prized and valued by Brits.
41.The main aim of the competition is to _____.
A. attract foreign tourists
B. show off one of the Brits’ hobbies
C. call on people to protect the environment
D. encourage Brits to build typically British gardens
42. According to the passage, the competition of gardening _____.
A. will be one of the Olympic sports
B. will be held before the 2012 London Olympics
C. will be held during the 2012 London Olympics
D. will require competitors to design gardens in their back yards
43. All of the following are true EXCEPT _____.
A. Brits’ gentle temperament makes them enjoy gardening
B. Brits do not have many public parks to spend relaxing time in
C. Brits regard their garden as an extension of their house outdoors
D. Brits treasure the short warm months when they enjoy their garden
44. What can we know from the passage
A. Brits love gardening as much as before.
B. Brits love their gardens more than they love their houses.
C. Brits are known to love gardening as much as they love tea.
D. Brits enjoy sitting in their gardens as much as sitting in the park.
45. It is a good idea to hold this competition most probably because _____.
A. it will be the first time to have such a competition
B. gardening is popular with people all over the world
C. gardening reflects the real character of British people
D. it will be a good way to make the Olympic park more beautiful
C
The popularity of bicycling continues to rise, and it is no surprise. It’s fun, healthy and eco-friendly. Maybe that’s why there are 1.4 billion bicycles and only 400 million cars on roads worldwide today. Bikes can take you almost anywhere, and there is no fuel cost!
Hop on a bicycle and ride around your neighborhood. You may discover something new in your community. Stopping and getting off a bike is easier than stopping and getting out of your car. In many communities, you can bike to work and benefit from exercise without polluting the environment. You don’t even have to ride all the way. Folding bikes work well for workers who ride the train. Just fold the bike and take it with you. Have you ever thought about bicycling across a foreign country It’s a great way to experience another culture, see beautiful scenery and meet friendly people. Bicycle enthusiast Goran Kropp bicycled across not just one country but several. He rode a remarkable 11,000 km from his home in Sweden to Nepal and then climbed Mount Everest! And now, bicycling across a country to raise money for a charity or to advertise a cause is also popular.
To encourage people to bike, many cities in Europe have established bike-share programs. In Paris, for example, thousands of bikes are parked at bike stations around the city. Users can rent bikes at any station. The first half-hour of use is free. After that, users pay a small fee. When they’ve finished riding, they simply park their bikes at any station. For people who don’t want to drive, the bikes are an excellent alternative(替代品)to buses and taxis, which burn fuel and cause pollution.
As a result of the success of bike plans in Europe, they’re spreading to the US., Australia and other countries as well. Look for one in your city soon.
We can learn from the passage that _____.
bikes are becoming more and more popular
bikes save people’s time
bikes have increased in price
buses and taxis will be replaced by bikes
What does the writer say you should do with your bike
Take part in bike races.
Give your friends rides.
Explore your community.
Bicycle to improve your mood.
According to this passage, workers in some cities can take their bikes _____.
to concerts and festivals
into their company offices
to large recreational areas
onto public transportation
When do the bike riders in Paris have to pay a fee
When they damage the bikes in an accident.
If they ride the bikes for over thirty minutes.
After they receive a bill in the mail for a ride.
Before they rent the new bikes at any station.
We can infer from Paragraph 3 that _____.
many people can use the same bikes
the bikes aren’t likely to break down
riders can keep the bikes for months
people can ride bikes to raise money
D
There are many ways to turn the path of anxiety, anger and sadness into a state of happiness once or even several times throughout the day. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Do one thing at a time. Edward Suarez, professor of medical psychology at Duke, found that people who multitask are more likely to have high blood pressure. Instead of talking on the phone while you fold laundry or clean the kitchen, sit down in a comfortable chair and turn your entire attention over to the conversation.
Just say no. Eliminate activities that aren’t necessary and that you don’t enjoy. If there are enough people and you are feeling stressed by the thought of running the committee, step down and let someone else handle things.
Go to sleep. Taking a daily nap or getting into bed at 8 p.m. one night with a good book---and turning the light out an hour later---can do more for your mood and outlook on life.
Visit a quiet place. Libraries, museums, and gardens provide islands of peace and calm in today’s busy world. Find a quiet place near your house and make it your secret getaway.
Volunteer. Helping others enables you to forget your own problems. One study found that volunteer work improved all six aspects of well-being: happiness, life satisfaction, self-esteem(自尊), sense of control over life, physical health, and depression.
Spend the time alone. Although relationships are one of the best ways to reduce pressure, sometimes you need time alone to recharge and reflect. Take yourself out to lunch or to a movie, or simply spend an afternoon reading in a bookstore.
The purpose of the writer in writing the passage is to _____.
give tips on how to feel happy
call on readers to take daily naps
tell readers how to reduce pressure
encourage readers to be volunteers
What does Paragraph 2 imply
It’s a good way to do many things at a time.
Talking on the phone will certainly affect your work.
It’s not good to sit in a comfortable chair while making a call.
People who do one thing at a time are less likely to have high blood pressure.
The underlined word “ eliminate” in Paragraph 3 probably means _____.
A. put off B. get used to C. get rid of D. take part in
54. Which of the following is the writer’s idea in the passage
A. It’s not polite to say no to things we don’t enjoy.
B. Spending time alone is the best way to reduce pressure.
C. We should live in a quiet place instead of the noisy city.
D. Libraries are suitable places to get away from the busy world.
55. All of the following are true EXCEPT that ______.
A. you can feel happy by helping others
B. getting rid of sadness takes a long time
C. good relationship can help reduce pressure
D. taking a daily nap can improve your mood

书面表达(One possible version)
Dear teacher and classmates,
It’s a great honor for me to be here and talk about whether or not we should learn from tutors or take weekend classes.
Honestly speaking, tutoring helps you make up for the weak subjects, preview the new lessons and offer help when you have difficulties in learning.
However, this takes up a lot of time, which means you have less time for school work or for relaxation. Little by little, the tutoring will make you lose interest in class learning and unable to learn by yourself. Meanwhile, your family will pay a lot of money for the tutoring.
In my opinion, tutoring helps a lot. But it can’t replace your own study. If it affects your study and places a heavy burden on you, it has more disadvantages than advantages.
Thanks for listening.
