What will the future school look like is difficult to make clear, but most experts agree that the school will be electronic in the future.
“Present-day schools will no longer exist in the next century,” says a report in The Age.“At that time, future schools will become community-style centers, which run seven days a week,24 hours a day.” At the same time, computers will surely become a central part of the school in the future.
According to The Age,the distant learning will be popular and students will listen to teachers on computers.Going into classrooms on their computers, students will study at any time, which is very easy for them. However,it is necessary for students to go to the actual school in order to develop some social skills.
The Seashore Primary School is an imaginary school in the future created by the Education Department of Australia. At this school, all the teachers and students have laptop computers.Teachers check messages and call students back on a special telephone system and students use telephones to search for information or speak to their experts who teach their lessons.Besides, all the lessons are related to all sorts of subjects and all the students have their own learning plans created by teachers.
As one headmaster says,a laptop computer is students’ library, data storage(数据存储) as well as the bridge to a wider world.Technology has changed the emphasis of future learning. Thus,we’ll pay more attention to the learning of kids rather than the teaching.
21.What does the example of the Seashore Primary School show
A.Telephones are important in Australia.
B.How future schools will work.
C.Every student needs a learning plan.
D.Students enjoy getting in touch with teachers.
22.What does the underlined word“emphasis”in the last paragraph mean
A.Lesson.
B.Score.
C.Attitude.
D.Focus.
23.Which of the following is the best title of the text
A.The Schools in the Future
B.Great Changes in Technology
C.The Seashore Primary School
D.Actual Schools to Be Replaced
24.What will students in future schools do according to the report in The Age
A.Mainly study online.
B.Study at a set time.
C.Have no teachers.
D.Never go to actual school.

Studies have shown most people fail to realise how much time they spend on their smartphones each day.
Frank and Amelia’s family were put to a test, using a free app called “Moment-screen Time Tracker”.The Vascellaros—Frank,Amelia,14-year-old twins Frankie and Joe,and 17-year-old Sam—all said they did not really know they were spending so much time on their phones each day.
“Honestly,I don’t feel like I’m on my phone a lot,” Amelia Vascellaro said.Amelia was on her phone far less often than Frank, according to the app. While Amelia spent about an hour per day on the phone,Frank spent close to four hours on his phone—which came as a shock to him.The children’s times varied but they often spent more than a couple of hours on the phone as well.
Minneapolis-based Dr Kirsten Lind Seal sees phone usage come up a lot among families.Lind Seal said many family members’ phone use has become problematic.
“If we hear more than once,‘Do you have to be on your phone right now Can you please put your phone down Did you hear what I said ’ it may be a sign that it is negatively influencing our family relationships and our daily lives,” she said.
Lind Seal said actually paying attention to how much time one spends on the phone is a good first step in deciding when to put it down.
She asks parents to encourage more face-to-face communication for teens and young adults as they continue developing their social and emotional skills.“What we find is that we are really losing out on empathy—the ability to understand other people’s feelings and problems—when we spend a lot of time on our smartphones to communicate with other people,” she said.
28.What did Lind Seal want to convey in the last paragraph
A.We should make more face-to-face communication.
B.We can understand each other better using smartphones.
C.Our ability of empathy is strengthened by smartphones.
D.Smartphone usage improves the teens’ emotional skills.
29.Where is this text most likely from
A.A diary.
B.A guidebook.
C.A novel.
D.A magazine.
30.How did the families tested by the app feel about the test results
A.Satisfied.
B.Doubtful.
C.Uninterested.
D.Astonished.
31.Why did Lind Seal mention the three questions in Para.5
A.To encourage people to live a simple life.
B.To explain the signs of problematic phone use.
C.To show the importance of close relationships.
D.To ask people if they use phones too much.

Attitudes toward new technologies often fall along generational lines. That is,generally, younger people tend to outnumber older people on the front end of a technological shift.
It is not always the case, though. When you look at attitudes toward driverless cars, there doesn’t seem to be a clear generational divide. The public overall is split on whether they’d like to use a driverless car.In a study last year,of all people surveyed,48 percent said they wanted to ride in one, while 50 percent did not.
The fact that attitudes toward self-driving cars appear to be so steady across generations suggests how varying the shift to driverless cars could be.Not everyone wants a driverless car now—and no one can get one yet—but among those who are open to them, every age group is similarly involved.
Actually, this isn’t surprising.Whereas older generations are sometimes reluctant to adopt new technologies, driverless cars promise real value to these age groups in particular.Older adults, especially those with limited moving or difficulty driving on their own,are one of the classic use-cases for driverless cars.
This is especially interesting when you consider that younger people are generally more interested in travel-related technologies than older ones.
When it comes to driverless cars, differences in attitude are easily noticeable based on factors not related to age.College graduates, for example, are particularly interested in driverless cars compared with those who have less education.59 percent of college graduates said they would like to use a driverless car compared with 38 percent of those with a high-school diploma or less.
Where a person lives matters, too.More people who live in cities and suburbs said they wanted to try driverless cars than those who lived in rural areas.
While there’s reason to believe that interest in self-driving cars is going up across the board,a person’s age will have little to do with how self-driving cars can become mainstream.Once driverless cars are actually available for sale, the early adopters will be the people who can afford to buy them.
32.Why does the driverless car appeal to some old people
A.It helps with their moving.
B.It saves their money and energy.
C.It adds to the safety of their travel.
D.It makes their life more interesting.
33.What is likely to affect one’s attitude toward the driverless car
A.The field of their special interest.
B.The location of their living place.
C.The amount of training they received.
D.The length of their driving experience.
34.What happens when a new technology appears
A.It often leads to great inventions in other related fields.
B.It contributes greatly to the advance of society as a whole.
C.It further widens the gap between the old and the young.
D.It usually draws different reactions from different age groups.
35.What does the author say about the driverless car
A.It does not seem to create a generational divide.
B.It will not necessarily reduce road accidents.
C.It has given rise to unrealistic expectations.
D.It may start a revolution in the car industry.

Futurologists are making a lot of predictions about our future life. 36 By 2050,some futurologists foresee that some “talking” buildings will appear in our life.
By the middle of the century,it’s believed that buildings will be able to “talk” to people through various sensors when the heating needs to be turned on. 37 Instead,a lot of networks will appear, which can be compared to a human nervous system. In the next 30 years, buildings will be made from concrete plastics and shape-changing materials. All of them can heal themselves at that time. 38 there will be a need for new kinds of elevators, through which vehicles could even travel into the buildings.German engineers have already started working on such technology called Multi.
By mid-century,scientists believe that buildings will be miles tall. Some of them may be very large and they can function as small cities.By comparison,at present, the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, measures 829.8 metres high. 39 their windows will be replaced by virtual screens. In this way, people can choose any view as they like.
At height extremes,a London Spaceport is also likely to come into being by 2050 as the space industry develops very quickly. There is a huge cost advantage going to space from as high a base as possible. 40
A.As cities are being very crowded,
B.As a result,there will be no switches.
C.As the future building can rise through the clouds,
D.As architects are racing to develop the world’s tallest buildings,
E.They are predicting how we will travel, work and live in the next 30 years.
F.Therefore,a spaceport is very likely to be over 10km,using carbon-based materials.
G.What is more likely, though,is that planes will become smarter and may even become autonomous.

With no path to follow,Jane just walked on for quite a long time. After she had climbed to a high place, she turned around, hoping to see the lake.To her surprise, she saw nothing but forest and,far beyond,a snowcapped mountain top.She suddenly realised that she was lost.
“Tom!”she cried.“Help!”
No reply. If only she had not left her mobile phone in that bag with Tom.Jane kept moving, but the farther she walked, the more confused she became. As night was beginning to fall, Jane was so tired that she had to stop for the night.Lying awake in the dark,Jane wanted very much to be with Tom and her family. She wanted to hold him and tell him how much she loved him.
Jane rose at the break of day, hungry and thirsty. She could hear water trickling (滴落) somewhere at a distance.Quickly she followed the sound to a stream. To her great joy,she also saw some berry bushes. She drank and ate a few berries.Never in her life had she tasted anything better.Feeling stronger now,Jane began to walk along the stream and hoped it would lead her to the lake.
As she picked her way carefully along the stream,Jane heard a helicopter. Is that for me Unfortunately, the trees made it impossible for people to see her from above.A few minutes later, another helicopter flew overhead.Jane took off her yellow blouse, thinking that she should go to an open area and flag them if they came back again.

What will life in the future be like As far as I can imagine, there will be an android in every family.
Of course, such an android should have artificial intelligence and it can handle everything from housework to all kinds of activities.Talking of the means of transportation,we will see a kind of environmentally friendly car running everywhere. This kind of car will be powered by solar energy instead of gas,and it can run by itself without any driver. In the future we will not be content to travel around the world. The moon, for example, will become one of our destinations.
What an inviting life!I hope the day will come soon.
【故事续写】
But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again.Jane had to stay alone in the forest for another cold night. At that moment, she felt a little sad,but she wasn’t so frightened. She reminded herself constantly,“Tom must have called for those helicopters.Maybe he was in one of them and will return soon!I have to guide him tomorrow.” She fell asleep and dreamed of seeing Tom.
It was daybreak when Jane woke up.She ate some berries and then walked along the stream, hoping to find a suitable place to guide the helicopter. She walked and walked, exhausted but full of hope.Suddenly, she spotted a huge flat rock. She managed to climb onto it and waited with patience. The helicopter appeared again. The nearer it got,the more she waved the yellow blouse. To her great joy,the helicopter didn’t miss Jane this time and it landed near the big rock slowly.Tom jumped off the helicopter and rushed towards Jane. They hugged each other tightly and burst into tears.
