if 作从属连词, 意为“如果”, 用来引导条件状语从句, 表示主句动作发生的条件。if 引导的条件状语从句可放在主句之前, 也可放在主句之后。但当if 引导的条件状语从句放在主句之前时, 常用逗号与主句隔开。
e.g. You will be late if you don’t hurry up.=
If you don’t hurry up, you will be late.
如果你不快点, 你就会迟到。
