Good morning, everyone. I’m Ralph Morrison, and I’ll be your guide today on your hike to Summit Lake. I think you’ll enjoy today’s trip, which will offer some wonderful views as well as some close up looks at the area’s plants and animals. We’ll begin with a gentle climb in this open forest before taking a short downhill walk to the river. You’ll see unusually tall trees in that area and will cross the river on a big piece of wood. Our pass from there will go north. We’ll pass through a forest, then a large field, and cross a stream as we continue our way up to Summit Lake. The lake is small and surrounded with forest, and there’re lots of fish just waiting to be caught. We’ll stop for lunch at the lake. You’ll have an hour to relax and take photos before we start our return trip on a different path, which will take us past three small lakes before the long, steep hike back down to the river. Our last mile will be another steep uphill climb to the trail’s end, just 100 yards from where we’re about to begin.

M: A friend of mine was on a sweet potato diet. He ate a sweet potato for breakfast, a sweet potato for lunch and another one for supper.
W: That’s bad for his health. Has he lost any weight
M: Yes. But he didn’t last long. One day he felt sick and was sent to hospital. The doctor had to keep him there for a week.
W: I’m very sorry to hear that. I think if you want to lose weight, you should not eat too much but you have to eat all kinds of food, vegetables, fruits etc.. And you should also do more exercise.
M: I agree with you.

I saw a really good video last night when I was taking care of the kids. My sister asked me to look after my two nieces for a couple of hours while she went to the doctor’s. They’re both nine years old, they’re twins. I was a bit tired but I know they love watching films, so on my way to the house I went to the video shop and rented a Disney classic. I’d seen it myself 20 years ago when I was their age, so I was sure they’d enjoy it, and I was right. My nieces love dogs and as the film is about two dogs who fall in love, they sat in front of the TV for over an hour without moving! It’s a complicated love story because one of the dogs lives in the rich part of town and is very carefully looked after and has everything a dog could want, but the other is a street dog who lives on the poor side of town and has nothing.
So it’s a bit like Romeo and Juliet! But of course it’s a Disney film, so although there are some sad moments when we all cried, there’s a happy ending. Everybody who’s seen the film always remembers the scene when the two dogs are eating a plate of spaghetti which ends in a kiss!
