Gold Coast family holidays are always great fun whether you are from Australia or from abroad. There are beautiful beaches, adventure parks, nature parks and so much more.
There are so many sights to see here. It is a pity to drive in a car and you'll miss a great part of it. Australia is home to many animals and birds that can only be seen when moving slowly and going into the areas that they live.
When you are on a bicycle, you have the advantage of being able to stop whenever you want to see an interesting animal or bird that you have never seen before. It is a quieter mode (方式) of transportation as well, so you might even be able to take a picture. When you are on the beach, you can breathe that clean air and view the beauty of the water and sand. It is a totally different experience from either simply sunbathing or passing it in a car.
There are many choices of hiring a bicycle to experience the Gold Coast attractions. There are stores that will fit a bike perfectly to your size. These bikes for both adults and children are in many styles and colors to please any taste. If you have ever wanted to try a tandem bike (双人自行车), now is your chance, because they have those too.
A bicycle hire on Gold Coast is something that everyone should try at least once. This is a wonderful chance for anyone who likes to cycle and it is also a cheap way to travel with your family.

To help the environment, many Americans have made the change from paper and plastic bags to reusable shopping bags. But a report by a Florida newspaper says that reusable shopping bags sold by some supermarkets have high levels of lead (铅), which can be dangerous to humans, especially young children. Now, there's a call for a rethink about the use of reusable shopping bags.
“When our families go to the store looking for safe and healthy foods, the last thing they should be worrying about is a bag,” Charles Schumer, a government official said. “Quick and complete research will allow everyone to make right decisions.”
The newspaper bought more than a dozen bags sold at Publix Super Markets from Florida to test them for lead. The results showed that certain bags had lead levels that worried health officials. Some bags had enough lead in them to be considered dangerous waste if people were to throw the bags out with other rubbish. Lead in the bags is not likely to move onto food. But over time, paint (油漆) on the bags can break off and the bags can wear out. When this happens, lead can be freed.
The affected (受影响的) bags were found in Florida. But publix has more than 1,000 stores across America. Publix says that its bags don't break any laws about lead levels, but that they have asked the makers of the bags to reduce (降低) the lead levels in them.
The bags with the highest levels of lead had beautiful designs and many pictures. Plain reusable bags without them are found to have little lead. People who are worried about lead levels in reusable bags can turn to cloth. Paper bags are also a good choice, since paper can be reused.

B.Time to Invent Greener Shopping Bags
C.The Safety of Shopping Bags
D.Look Out for Reusable Shopping Bags

Parents may think they're smart about where they store medicines, but their kids are smarter. Nearly 60,000 young children are rushed to the hospital every year after getting into medicines not meant for them, according to a new report from Safe Kids Worldwide.
The report finds little connection between what parents know about storing medicines safely and what they actually do. 9 out of 10 parents know that medicines should be stored up and away and out of reach and sight, but 7 out of 10 of them admit not doing that. They leave medicines out on kitchen counters, sinks and sofas, believing babies and toddlers (学步的儿童) aren't tall enough or strong enough to reach them. Unfortunately, they probably can. Children as young as a month have ended up in an emergency department because they have been poisoned by getting into a medicine that was left within reach.
Most poisonings related to medicines — particularly among babies and toddlers — occur within their home. Kids develop rapidly and they want to explore their environment. At certain ages they have a lot of activities using their hands and mouths, and so it's very common for them to explore their environment and then try to taste what they find.
The new Safe Kids Worldwide report includes a survey of 2,000 parents with children under age 6. While the number of children visiting an emergency department for accidental poisonings has declined since the 2010 maximum, the decline has slowed in recent years.
Prescription and over the counter medicines cause the most severe poisonings, but vitamins and supplements (补给品) can also cause problems. There are steps families can take to lower the risk for an accidental medicine poisoning.
12.Why are children poisoned according to the text
A.Some of the medicines at home taste nice.
B.There is something poisonous in medicines.
C.Kids have easy access to medicines at home.
D.Kids are curious to explore the environment.
13.What can we learn from the text
A.Vitamins and supplements can do good to kids.
B.The team made a survey of 2,000 kids under age 6.
C.600 parents surveyed could keep medicines properly.
D.Kids are usually smart at storing medicines at home.
14.What is the author likely to write about after the last paragraph
A.Factors contributing to the mistakes parents have made.
B.Tips that parents can follow to avoid a medicine poisoning.
C.Examples related to vitamin and supplement poisonings.
D.Impressive recovery results in helping patients.
15.What could be the best title for the text
A.Parents' Casual Behavior Leads to Kids Poisoned
B.The Number of Kids Poisoned Has Declined Lately
C.Nearly 60,000 Children Are Poisoned by Medicines
D.Kids Are Facing the Risk of Being Poisoned at Home
