Are some people born clever, and others born stupid Or is intelligence developed by our environment and our experience Strangely enough, the answer to these questions is yes. To some extent our intelligence is given to us at birth, and no amount of education can make a genius out of a child born with low intelligence. On the other hand, a child who lives in a boring environment will develop his intelligence less than one who lives in rich and varied surroundings. Thus the limits of person's intelligence are fixed at birth, whether or not he reaches those limits will depend on his environment. This view, now held by most experts, can be supported in a number of ways.
It is easy to show that intelligence is to some extent something we are born with. The closer the blood relationship between two people, the closer they are likely to be in intelligence. Thus if we take two unrelated people at random from population, it is likely that their degree of intelligence will be completely different. If, on the other hand, we take two identical twins, they will very likely be as intelligent as each other. Relations like brothers and sisters, parents and children, usually have similar intelligence, and this clearly suggests that intelligence depends on birth.
Imagine now that we take two identical twins and put them in different environments. We might send one, for example, to a university and the other to a factory where the work is boring. We would soon find differences in intelligence developing, and this indicates that environment as well as birth plays a part. This conclusion is also suggested by the fact that people who live in close contact with each other, but who are not related at all are likely to have similar degree of intelligence.
29.Which of these sentences best describes the writer’s point in Paragraph 1
A.To some extent, intelligence is given at birth.
B.Intelligence is developed by the environment.
C.Intelligence is fixed at birth, but is developed by the environment.
D.Some people are born clever and others born stupid.
30.The phrase “at random”(Line3, para.2) means _______ .
A.purposely B.frequently C.independently D.aimlessly
31.The best title for this article would be_______.
A.On Intelligence
B.What Dose Intelligence Mean
C.We Are Born with Intelligence
D.Environment Plays a Part in Developing Intelligence

People can be addicted to(沉溺于) different things — e.g. alcohol, drug, certain foods, or even television. People who have such an addiction are compulsive(强迫的):they have a very powerful psychological need that they feel they must satisfy. According to psychologists, many people are compulsive spenders. They feel that they must spend money. This compulsion, like most others, is impossible to explain reasonably. For compulsive spenders who buy on credit(以赊欠方式), charge accounts are even more exciting than money. In other words, compulsive spenders feel that with credit, they can do anything. Their pleasure in spending large amounts is actually greater than the pleasure that they get from the things they buy.
There is even a special psychology of bargain hunting. To save money, of course, most people look for sales, low prices, and pulsive bargain hunters, however, often buy things that they don’t need just because they are cheap. They want to believe that they are helping their budgets(预算), but they are really playing an exciting game. When they can buy something for less than other people, they feel that they are winning. Most people, experts claim, have two reasons for their behavior: a good reason for the things that they do and the real reason.
It is not only scientists, of course, who understand the psychology of spending habits, but also business people. Stores, companies, and advertisers use psychology to increase business. They consider people’s needs for love, power, or influence, their basic values, their beliefs and opinions, an d so on in their advertising and sales methods.
Psychologists often use a method called “behavior therapy(疗法)” to help individuals solve their personality problems. In the same way, they can help people who feel that they have problems with money.
32. According to the psychologists, a compulsive spender is one who spends large amounts of money________.
A. and takes great pleasure from what he or she buys
B. in order to satisfy his or her basic needs in life
C. just to meet his or her strong psychological need
D. and feels he or she is cheated
 33. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the text
  A. People spend money for exactly the same reason that they need to buy things.
  B. Business people and advertisers can use the psychology of people’s spending habits to increase sales.
  C. Business people understand the psychology of compulsive buying better than scientists do.
  D. Compulsive bargain hunters do not have problems with money.

34. What is the text mainly about
  A. The psychology of money-spending habits. B. The habits of compulsive spenders.
  C. A special psychology of bargain hunting. D. The use of the psychology of spending habits in business.
  35. From the text we may safely conclude that compulsive
spenders or compulsive bargain hunters _____.
  A. are really unreasonable B. need special treatment
  C. are really beyond drugs D. can never get any help to solve their problems with money

So recently some students have brought their mobile phones to the classroom and we often hear of the ring of mobile phones. Some of them even wasted precious time in class type short messages on the mobile phones. To keep the classroom quietly and make us focus more on their studies, I suggest that mobile phones shouldn’t be used in the classroom. At least, they shouldn’t be used where we are having a class.

What should we do in English class
The most important thing we should do in English class is to listen to the teacher carefully. There is no doubt that the more carefully you listen, the more useful information you can get. Besides, taking notes is also a good way to make you concentrate on the class.
In order to learn English well, we are supposed to take part in all kinds of class activities. For example, we need to work in groups with our classmates and talk with them in English.
Last but not least, it is very important for us to be confident. As a proverb goes, confidence in yourself is the first step on the road to success. We shouldn’t be afraid of making mistakes in class. Only in this way, can we improve our English.
In a word, I believe as long as we remember all these tips , we will surely make progress in English and learn English well.
