㈠.定语从句的用法:定语从句在句中作定语,修饰名词、代词,被修饰的名词、词组或代词叫先行词。定语从句在先行词后,由关系代词(who, whom, whose, that, which)或关系副词引导。现阶段主要掌握关系代词的用法。
who, whom & that 这些词代替的先行词是表示人的名词或代词,在从句中做主语或宾语。
e.g. He is the man that /who wants to see you. 他就是想见你的人。(who/ that 在从句中作主语)
He is the man that/ whom I saw yesterday. 他就是我昨天见到的人。(whom/that在从句中作宾语)
which & that 它们所替代的先行词是表示事物的名词或代词,在从句中作主语或宾语等。
e.g. The book that / which I am reading is about China. ( that/ which 在从句中作宾语)
She doesn’t like the songs that / which are too long. ( that /which 在从句中作主语)

whose 用于指人或物,在定语从句中用作定语,若指物,可以和of which 互换。
e.g. Please pas me the book whose (=of which)cover is green. 请递给我那本绿皮的书。
I know the woman whose daughter works in the hospital. 我认识那个她女儿在医院工作的女士。
4.★ 提示:当先行词是物时,一般情况下用which或what都可,但以下情况只能用that:
①. 当先行词为anything, something, everything,the one, all等不定代词时,只能用that.
②. 先行词由the only, the very, the same, the last, just等修饰时,只用that.
③. 先行词为序数词、数词、形容词最高级时,只用that.
④. 先行词既有人,又有物时,只用that .
5. 其他:
①.当关系代词在从句中作主语时,从句的谓语动词与先行词保持一致。
e.g. He is one of the boys who like playing basketball. 他是喜欢打篮球的男孩之一。
②.Whom在定语从句中作宾语,常可省略,也可用who代替。
