Perhaps the only test score that I remember is the 55 I got when I was in high school.
The test was the last one at the end of the term. I remember waiting nervously as my teacher Mr. Right gave out our papers one after another. It was a rather difficult test. I heard my classmates groaning (叹息), and I could guess by the groans that the scores weren't looking good.
Mr. Right put my paper on my desk. There, in big red numbers, circled to catch attention, was my score, 55! I lowered my head, and covered the score up quickly. A 55 was not something that you wanted your classmates to see. “The scores were not very good. None of you passed, ”Mr. Right said. “The highest score in the class was a 55. ”
A 55. That's me! Suddenly I didn't feel so bad. I had the highest score. I felt a lot better.
I walked home alone that day with the low but high score. My mother knew that I had a big test that day and asked me as soon as I got home, “How did you do in your test?”“I got a 55, ”I said. A frown (皱眉)appeared on my mother's face. I knew I had to explain at once. “But Mum, I had the highest score in the class, ” I said proudly. “You failed, Dave!” my mother replied. “But it's the highest!”I insisted (坚持). “I don't care what scores others had. You failed. The important thing is what you do!” my mother said in a strong way.
For years, my mother was always in that way. She didn't care what others did. She only cared what I did. My mother's words have made a big difference to my life.
51. When did the test take place
A. At the beginning of the term. B. In the middle of the term.
C. We don't know. D. At the end of the term.
52. ____of the students failed the test.

C. She felt embarrassed. D. She was really excited.

On the flag day, Tom and Angela sold flags in a busy street. “Excuse me. Could you please buy. . . ” said Angela softly to the first person she met. Feeling nervous, Tom began to shake. Soon, he saw a young lady walking towards him. The lady was smiling and holding a few coins in her hand. She asked, “Are you selling flags for funds for the homeless children ” Tom’s face became red and said yes. Then the lady made the donation(捐赠) and Tom gave her a flag. “You made it!” laughed Angela.

April 27 is a special day in Britain. It's called Take Our Daughters to Work Day. It was brought to Britain in 1994 from America. On that day thousands of girls take a day off school and go with one of their parents to their workplaces. By doing this, the girls can be taught more about the society where they live.
Now the girls can have a close look at what their parents are doing. This may help them to be calmer when they have to choose a job. Mary experienced a day of work at her mother's office. This helped her understand her mother's work better. She said that this made her feel more confident about her future.
Schools and many companies support the activity, too. Some schools even make the day a necessary part of school life.
Experts think that girls with more self confidence are more likely (可能的) to be successful than common girls. If parents can set good examples both at work and at home for them, they will do better than others. Take Our Daughters to Work Day is surely a step in the right direction.

Many people run for exercise. But what will you do if you are not a “born”runner or jogger(慢跑者) Why not try walking
Walking is good for your health like jogging or running; it will just take longer.
The problem with walking is that most people don't take it seriously. But there's a big difference between serious walking and the walking that most of us do. Walking, like jogging, should have a steady and continuous motion (稳健而持续的动作).
If you want to get your exercise by walking, you need to have your own walking plan. You need to set a course to walk. Start by walking about 15-30 minutes a day. Increase your time and distance(距离) slowly. And try increasing your walking speed little by little.
If you prefer to jog or run, follow the same advice. Start off slowly. Spend most of the first few days just walking. Then, start walking and running on the same day. Run or jog a short distance, then walk for a while, then, run, and then walk. Follow that pattern for 15-30 minutes a day. Slowly make each run longer and each walk shorter. Later on, you can increase your distance, speed and exercise time.
