My wife and I recently completed a day-long tour of the Great Wall with Jessie. In addition to being very knowledgeable about the history of the areas that we toured, she spoke excellent English and was able to answer all of our questions. Her driver was very experienced and polite, and we really enjoyed being able to have a customized tour that avoided the tourist traps and forced shopping that seem to be a part of the larger group tours.
The attractions themselves were fantastic. I was a little worried that the snowy weather might impact our trip to the Great Wall, but everything went fine, and there weren’t many people out at all that day. I suggest wearing strong shoes—the Great Wall is really a hike. And in snowy or rainy days, the surfaces are pretty slippery (滑的)! Seeing this area in winter was really unique, and the snow made for great pictures. Jessie kept us entertained with stories and facts about the construction of the Wall, and always pointed out great spots for taking pictures. Even though she’s in fantastic shape, she cared about our level of fitness and often stopped to let us catch our breath.
When we got back to our hotel, Jessie gave us a great recommendation for dinner and some tips for our planned stops the next day. If I find myself in Beijing in the future, I will certainly be contacting Jessie for more tour opportunities, and I’ve already recommended her to some friends who are visiting the area later in the year. I can’t say enough about how kind and knowledgeable she was, and she really gave us a great tour experience.
4. What can we infer about Jessie
A. She is a tour advisor.
B. She is a tour guide.
C. She is a foreign traveler.
D. She is a skilled driver.
5. When did the writer visit the Great Wall
A. In spring. B. In summer.
C. In autumn. D. In winter.
6. What did the writer think of his tour
A. Adventurous. B. Disappointing.
C. Satisfactory. D. Improvable.
7. What is the probable title for the text

D. Jessie, a Kind and Knowledgeable Guide

Most children who have suffered from ADHD still have it as teens. During teen years, especially as the hormonal changes of teenagers are going on and the demands of school and extra-curricular activities are increasing, ADHD may get worse.
Because of problems with getting unfocused and poor concentration, many teens with ADHD have problems in school. Grades may fall, especially if the teen is not getting ADHD treatment. It’s not uncommon for teens with ADHD to forget their homework, lose textbooks, and become bored with their daily class work. Teens may become inattentive or extremely attentive, not waiting for their turn before blurting out answers. They may cut in on their teacher and classmates. Teens with ADHD may also be fidgety and find it hard to sit still in class.
Often, teens with ADHD are so busy focusing on other things that they forget about the task at hand. This can be seen especially with homework and athletic skills and in relationships with their schoolmates. This lack of attention to what they’re doing often leads to bad grades on tests and being passed over for sports teams, after-school activities, and learning teams. Kids with ADHD can be targets for bullying, too. But, not all children with ADHD have trouble getting along with others. If your child does, you can take measures to help improve their social skills and relationships.
ADHD affects all parts of a teenager’s life. As a parent you should discover your teen’s troubles as early as possible. The earlier your child’s troubles are discovered, the more successful the following steps can be.

Over 180 teenage girls from Lixian County No. 1 Middle School in Longnan city, Gansu province, listened carefully to a lecture about neuroscience (神经科学). It was delivered by a director of the experimental surgery department at The Second Affiliated Hospital of the Air Force Medical University in Xi’an.
The students also joined a science class to make paper rockets to launch into the sky. A plastic bottle was connected with a long pipe joined to the end of the rocket, and students stepped heavily on the middle of the bottle so hard that the air pressure shot the rocket upward.
The program started in 2016 as a one-week summer camp in Beijing that invited female students to take science courses and to interact with women in science. It aims to stir (激发) an interest in science and technology among female students.
“I’m excited to take the opportunity because it’s been my biggest wish to popularize science among students. They can broaden their eyes and hopefully some of them will devote themselves to the field of neuroscience,” the director says. “It’s necessary to bring more of these activities on campus. I’m willing to communicate with teenagers, some of whom ask deep and thoughtful questions that I would never think of.”
The key to science popularization is to imbue (灌输) others with the spirit of science. Some scientific and technological workers have devoted themselves to a job in a certain field and they enjoy the pleasure of scientific research. Female Chinese scientific and technological workers sometimes have to double their efforts to receive the same treatment or recognition as those male scientific workers. However, after years of continued effort, the situation will improve, showing the increasing number of female scientists in China.

A. To praise the efforts of women scientists.
B. To find out how much girls love science.
C. To develop interest in science among girls.
D. To show love for students in Western China.
13. How does the director think of the program
A. Important. B. Challenging. C. Confusing. D. Serious.
14. What is the most important in science popularization
A. Enjoying the fun of scientific research.
B. Filling people with the spirit of science.
C. Holding more scientific activities on campus.
D. Forcing students to choose scientific subjects.
15. What can we learn from the text
A. One can go anywhere if he/she learns science well.
B. People have a stronger sense of science than before.
C. Male scientists are much easily recognized than female ones.
D. The director graduated from Lixian County No. 1 Middle School.

7. What is the probable title for the text
A. A Wonderful Tour Day with Jessie
B. An Extraordinary Tour Company
C. The Great Wall, an Excellent Attraction

As a parent, you should discover your teen’s troubles as early as possible.

12. What is the purpose of the program
15 What can we learn from the text
A. One can go anywhere if he/she learns science well.
B. People have a stronger sense of science than before.
C. Male scientists are much easily recognized than female ones.
D. The director graduated from Lixian County No. 1 Middle School.
