the other things意为“别的所有商品”不合文意,选项many other things意为“别的许多商品”为正确选项。
9. B。without为介词。
故选on TV。

Teenagers believe anything is possible if they study hard. But they often forget to think about healthy diets, enough sleep time and exercise. In fact, these things are really important for them to keep fit.
It is important for teenagers to get enough energy. Teenage girls need about 2,200 calories a day while boys need a bit more—doctors suggest 2,800 for teenage boys.50% of their calories should come from healthy food—rice, vegetables and fruit. A report shows that without a good night’s sleep, teenagers seem to be weaker than they should be. Too much homework is not the only reason why teenagers stay up late. Some watch TV or play computer games late into the night. Teenagers should develop good study habits. So some clever students never study late, but they are able to work well in class.

When I was in fourth grade, I worked part-time as a paperboy. Mrs Stanley was one of my customers. She’d watch me coming down her street, and by the time I’d biked up to her doorstep, there’d be a cold drink waiting. I’d sit and drink while she talked.
Mrs Stanley talked mostly about her dead husband, “Mr Stanley and I went shopping this morning. ” she’d say. The first time she said that, soda(汽水) went up my nose.
I told my father how Mrs Stanley talked as if Mr Stanley were still alive. Dad said she was probably lonely, and that I ought to sit and listen and nod my head and smile, and maybe she’d work it out of her system. So that’s what I did, and it turned out Dad was right. After a while she seemed content to leave her husband over at the cemetery(墓地).
I finally quit delivering newspapers and didn’t see Mrs Stanley for several years. Then we crossed paths at a church fund-raiser(募捐活动). She was spooning mashed potatoes and looking happy. Four years before, she’d had to offer her paperboy a drink to have someone to talk with. Now she had friends. Her husband was gone, but life went on.
I live in the city now, and my paperboy is a lady named Edna with three kids. She asks me how I’m doing. When I don’t say “fine”, she sticks around to hear my problems. She’s lived in the city most of her life, but she knows about community. Community isn’t so much a place as it is a state of mind. You find it whenever people ask how you’re doing because they care, and not because they’re getting paid to do so. Sometimes it’s good to just smile, nod your head and listen.
28. Why did soda go up the author’s nose one time
A. He was talking fast.
B. He was shocked.
C. He was in a hurry.
D. He was absent-minded.
Mrs Stanley talked mostly about her dead husband, “Mr Stanley and I went shopping this morning. ” she’d say.
29. Why did the author sit and listen to Mrs Stanley according to Paragraph 3
A. He enjoyed the drink.
B. He wanted to be helpful.
C. He took the chance to rest.
D. He tried to please his dad.
Dad said she was probably lonely, and that I ought to sit and listen and nod my head and smile可知, 作者倾听Mrs Stanley说话是为了帮助她。
30. Which of the following can replace the underlined phrase “work it out of her system”
A. recover from her sadness
B. move out of the neighborhood
C. turn to her old friends
D. speak out about her past
【解析】选A。 After a while she seemed content to leave her husband over at the cemetery.
31. What does the author think people in a community should do
A. Open up to others.
B. Depend on each other.
C. Pay for others’ help.
D. Care about one another.
You find it whenever people ask how you’re doing because they care, and not because they’re getting paid to do so.
Once a king got two nice falcons(猎鹰) from his son. He had never seen such beautiful falcons before. He loved them so much and he ordered the best falconer to train them to fly.
After several months, the king came to see how the training was going. He found that one falcon had already been able to fly high in the sky, while the other was staying on the branch(树枝) of a tree quietly, just keeping still.
The king called all his falconers together and ordered them to try every way they could to make the other falcon fly. But none of them succeeded. One day, while the king was taking a walk in the forest, an idea came to his mind. Maybe someone who knew the natural environment well could solve this problem. He sent for a farmer who lived in the forest into his palace to train it at once.
The next mornings, the king saw the other falcon flying above in the sky freely. “It is unbelievable!” shouted the king. “How could you make it happen ”
The farmer replied, “It’s very easy. I just cut off the branch where the falcon rested.”
It is always the same to human beings. We all have “two flying wings” in our hearts as well, but we often seem not to no notice them and stay where we are just for safety and comfort. We won’t realize we can fly so high and freely until the “branch” we are resting on breaks.
32. What did the king do after he got two falcons
______________________________________________________________________________
33. Where was the other falcon staying
________________________________________________________________________________
34. Who finally made the other falcon fly in the sky
___________________________________________________________________________________
35. How did the king feel when he saw the other falcon fly freely in the sky
_________________________________________________________________________________
32. He ordered the best falconer to train them to fly.
33. On the branch of a tree.
34. A farmer.
35. Surprised./Shocked…
根据第一段“He loved them so much and he ordered the best falconer to train them to fly.” He ordered the best falconer to train them to fly.
根据第二段“while the other was staying on the branch”可知它停留在一棵树的枝上,故答案为On the branch of a tree./ It was staying on the branch of a tree.
He sent for a farmer who lived in the forest into his palace to train it at once.
The next mornings, the king saw the other falcon flying above in the sky freely”可知是一个农民让鹰飞起来,故答案为A farmer.
根据第四段“It is unbelievable!” shouted the king. “How could you make it happen ”可知国王看到这只鹰终于飞起来时感到惊奇、不可相信,故答案为Surprised./Shocked./It is unbelievable.
根据第六段“We won’t realize we can fly so high and freely until the “branch” we are resting on breaks.” When the “branch” we are resting on breaks/We won’t realize we can fly so high and freely until the “branch” we are resting on breaks.
