Good health is the most valuable thing in the world. When you've got it, you never think about it. When you haven't got it, you think about it all the time. Our biggest enemies are not terrible diseases and so on. We ourselves are our own biggest enemies because we sometimes destroy our own good health. Some of us eat too much, drink too much and smoke too much. And though our reason tells us we should control ourselves, we find it difficult. Who doesn’t enjoy a drink after a busy day Only a smoker knows the pleasure of a cigarette with a cup of coffee.
The danger is that these innocent pleasures run our lives and so destroy our health. When you find yourself eating between meals or eating too much rich food, when you can only keep yourself going by taking frequent drinks or by smoking one cigarette after another, then it's time to stop and think what you might be doing to yourself.
The funny thing is that when we don't control ourselves. You're probably saying, "It’s easy to say, but I can't help myself. I need that extra bit of food, that extra drink, that extra cigarette." Life has so many pleasures that I can’t do without them. But I’m saying you can help yourself. Because if you don't help yourself, no one else can. So be your own best friend.

Jim loved adventures when he was a little boy. He was also a strong-minded boy who didn't give up easily.
One day when he was thirteen years old, he asked some friends to climb a mountain with him. The boys agreed and they decided to camp at the top of the mountain. Then after they got ready, they set off. It was a beautiful day and the boys started climbing the mountain happily after they got to the foot of it. The mountain was very tall and it was difficult for the young boys to climb it, but everyone was positive about the activity and no one complained.
When it got dark, they finally reached the top and they all shouted happily. Then Jim started counting. To his shock. there was one missing.
"Where is Mike "he asked
All the boys looked around and they didn’t see Mike around. They got worried.
"Mike. Mike..." they started shouting. But there was no response. Worrying that Mike might be in danger, the boys knew they must return to find him. However after climbing the mountain for hours, they were all tired, so Jim asked the other boys to camp there and then he went down the mountain to find Mike alone.
Jim left the boys and started going down the mountain with a flashlight. Though tired, hungry and cold, he still didn't give up because of worrying about his friend. But things got even worse when his flashlight suddenly stopped working. Jim almost became desperate. He started calling his friend's name. To his joy, finally, he got a weak response. Mike was just nearby.
Jim felt his way in the darkness and walked toward his friend. Luckily the moon came out of the cloud and Jim could finally see again. He found his friend who had been trapped in a hole for hours. Jim managed to pull Mike up from the hole, and Mike was finally safe. However, Jim was so tired that he fell and rolled down the hill and lost consciousness (意识).

书面表达
How to be strong and healthy
Good morning, boys and girls! It is my great honor to stand here and give a speech, the topic of which is how to be strong and healthy. It is obvious that we students, compared with others, are neither in good health nor full of energy. Therefore, I'd like to offer some suggestions on how to build up our fitness.
First of all, get enough sleep. Enough sleep can make a big difference. Thus we’d better form the habit of early going to bed and early rising rather than stay up late. Besides, it is exercise and outdoor activities that can give us strength and energy. Last but not least, eating fruits and vegetables is of great help to us. Make sure we make a balanced diet and cut out the junk food, which will be beneficial to us.
Just as the saying goes, “a sound mind lies in a sound body.” Happiness and success lie first of all in fitness! Come on and take action now!
续写范文
Paragraph 1
When Jim finally woke up, he found himself in hospital. He was severely injured and couldn't even feel his legs. He was told that he might not be able to walk again. Hearing that, Jim became desperate, with tears rolling down his face. He loved adventures but now he even couldn’t walk. His parents and friends were all there with him, feeling sad and regretful. But they all encouraged him, saying that they'd do whatever the could to help him walk again.
Paragraph 2
Looking at those worried faces of his parents and friends, Jim made a decision to stand on his feet again. Jim left the hospital in a month. He had to use a wheelchair of course, but Jim remained positive. He started training himself to stand on his feet later with the help of his friends. The process was really painful and hard, he never gave up. One year later, Jim finally made it. Now he can have adventures with his friends again!
