It is of great difference. You can learn something about a place through your smartphone, but it is impossible for you to touch it, smell it, or embrace it. So to visit and truly appreciate something on your own eyes is always a better option.
What is the difference when appreciating paintings through smartphone or with your own eyes
Read the blog entry on page 34 and answer the following questions.

In the National Gallery.
The writer wonderd at the skill of the artists, their use of colour and how they played with light and shade. He/She observed the brushwork the artists used to enhance their works,and enjoyed being able to bathe his/her senses in this palace of human activity.
What is predicative
Predicative, especially of adjectives, nouns or phrases, is after a linking verb to describe the nature and characteristics of the subject.
A linking verb is a verb which
links the subject of a clause and a complement, such as be, seem, sound, look, stay, keep,
become, etc.
e.g. He stayed calm when he was in danger.
I was a teacher twenty years ago.
The idea sounds interesting.
Read the blog entry again and find the sentences that use verb-ing or verb-ed forms as predicatives and fill in the table below.
First, find the link verbs.
Second, decide whether the verb-ing or verb-ed forms are used as predicatives.

The subjects of surprising and shocking are “it”, which refer to something.

1. Verb-ing作表语时表示一般性、习惯性的动作,或抽象的动作,大部分时候主语和表语可以互换。

Challenging yourselves
It is interesting because it shows a real-life situation and there are a lot of detail showing the women and the fish. The women also seem tired.
I agree. Perhaps
this is something that they do every day — it is not surprising or exciting. So, the painter decided to paint this scene using colours that are dark and depressing.
When I look at the painting, I feel relaxed. I can imagine the two birds singing
sweetly in the tree.
Even though the
colours in the second painting are similar to those in the first one, the natural scene and the landscape in the background are
definitely more pleasing.
