Teaching design
Ⅰ.Analysis of the text
The lesson is selected from the unit six of the sixth volume of the version of primary English(foreign language teaching and research press) ,which mainly talks about the vegetables and asks for the prices .The lesson is the key part of the whole unit ,the following lessons are all based on the lesson .During the period ,I will introduce the new words and phrases ,all structures and expressions .
Ⅱ.Analysis of the students
The students in grade 5 have learned English for 2 years and they will probably still maintain a high interest in English .They have competiveness of self-motivation .They need instructions for listening and speaking, strategies and guidance to use language in the real situation .
Ⅲ.Teaching aims and demands
Knowledge aims
a. Students will be able to understand and say the words: flour,meat,salt,sugar,corn,lettuce, beans and cucumbers.
b. Students will be able to ask and answer the sentence parrtern: How much is the meat It’s … Yuan a kilo.
2. Ability aims
a. Students will be able to ask and answer the prices of something.
b. Student’s ability of listening and speaking will be greatly improved.
3. Emotional aims
a. Students will know more common knowledge about daily life.
b. Students will know it’s important to cooperate with others in a big group.

Students will be able to understand and say the key words, sentence parrtern.

Step 1 Warm-up
1. Brainstorming
Let’s look and say quickly (such as fruits tofu butter candy and so on)
2. Play a game: Who am I
(Teacher acts as a shop assistant) T: welcome to my market .what do you need
S: I need…
(Purpose: To review the words about food learned before, and set a base for the new lesson)
Step2 presentation
1 .watch a video and answer a question
Q: what are they talking about
(Lead into shopping for dumplings)
2 .Ask and answer
What do they need for dumplings (By guessing, riddle and tasting, lead into flour, meat, salt and sugar)
Step 3 Play a game: What’s missing
Step 4 let’s chant
Flour, flour, I need some flour
Meat, meat, I need some meat
Salt, salt, I need some salt
Sugar, sugar, I need some sugar
(Purpose: To set a relaxed atmosphere and practice the new words)
Step5 presentation
show a shopping list-dumplings about prices
T: How much is the-
S: It’s-Yuan a kilo.
(Encourage students to answer according to the prices)
(Purpose: To set a real situation)
show several pictures and ask the prices
(Lead into the corn, lettuce, beans, and cucumbers)
Step 6 pair work
Step 7 practice
Let’s access the prices
Divide students into four groups, show food, say prices .the group whose price is the closest to the real price will get prizes
(Purpose: To elicit students’consiciouse of cooperation and competiveness)

Ⅸ. Teaching reflection
In this lesson, I succeed in presetting the key words and sentences .I design a real situation and lead into the key part though the knowledge learned before .students are eager to take part in activities .but it’s still a pity that not all students could join in the real situation, and it’s not enough to practice the key part because of the limited time. In the long run, I will know more about the students and fulfill their real demands.
