Teaching aims:
1. To familiarize the students with Simon’s journey to school.
2. To develop students’ language abilities.
3. To encourage students to make a big book about their journey to school.
Language focus:
Using the simple present tense to express simple truth.
Using the connective to show the time relationship between two actions.
Using the prepositions to indicate time.
Using prepositions to indicate a period of time
Using proper nouns to refer to places.
Teaching procedure:
I. warming-up
1. Sing an English song.
2. Daily talk
Topic: What can you see in the street on your way to school
II. Pre-task preparation
1. Revise time.
Ask: What time do you get up
What time do you go to school
How do you go to school
2. To review: walk to school, take a bus to school, go to school by bicycle etc.
3. Show the map of Simon’s journey to school.
4. With the map teach Simon ‘s journey to school.
5. Students work in pairs to ask and answer the questions in Look, ask and answer.
III. While-task procedure
1. Make students write their journey to school on photocopiable page 46.
2. Tell the class how I go to school with my pictorial journey.
3. Students ask and tell each other about how they go to school with the pictorial
journey, using the dialogue similar to the one in Look, ask and answer.
4. Teachers want to visit the students’ family, but they don’t know how to get there. Let’s make a big book with your pictorial journeys.
