The First Period (2a – 2e)
Teaching aims:
1.Learn letter from S to Z.
2.Teach Ss write the big and small letters S to Z.
Teaching keys:
1. Master the letters S to Z.
2. Let Ss can listen and speak the big and small letters S to Z.
Teaching difficulties:
How to write the big and small letters S to Z correctly.
Teaching steps:
Ⅰ. Revision and warming-up
A Guessing game
Teacher shows a part of a letter and asks : “What’s this ” Get the Ss to answer the
questions like this: “ I think it’s A / B.”
Then show the whole of the letter to let the Ss, and check whether they’re right or wrong.
Ⅱ. Presentation
1.Focus attention on the picture in Activity 1a. Ask Ss to find the capital letters in the picture to match the lower case letters. Then check the answers.
2.Play the recording. Stop the tape after each letter and have Ss repeat. Check pronunciation and correct if necessary.
3.Play the recording again. Have Ss repeat the eight letters in one set. Check pronunciation and correct if necessary.
4. Ask single student to read them one by one.
5. Read the instructions and let the Ss listen and write the number of the letters in the boxes according to the order in which they hear them. Then check the answers.
Ⅲ. Practice
1.The teacher demonstrate drawing the letters on the board. Demonstrate how Ss can use the lines in the book to assist them in writing the letters.
2. Ask Ss to write them in their exercise books. Move around the room checking on their work.
3. Let Ss finish 2d and check the answers.
Ⅳ.Exploration
Ask Ss if they recognize any of the abbreviations, and know what they stand for. Have Ss discuss in groups. If necessary, provide some hints, such as asking where they have seen any of these logos before.

Homework:
1.Listen to 2a and read it after the tape.
2.Copy the letters Ss-Zz and the letters in 2c,write down the Chinese meaning and collect more such letters.
3. Make color letter cards.
The Second Period (1a – 1c)
Teaching aims:
1. Ask and answer the questions about colors;
2. Enlarge the Ss’ vocabulary about things and colors;
3. Make similar dialogues.
Teaching keys:
Sentences :---What color is this ---It’s red.
Words:red,black,white,blue,orange,green,yellow. Add: pink, purple, brown, grey
Teaching difficulties:
How to ask and answer about color.
Teaching steps:
Ⅰ. Revision and warming-up
1. Review the letter learned last lesson, and then read out all the letters from a to z.
2. Revise the 26 letters by using the color letter cards. Then can ask and answer like this: ---What’s this/that ---It’s A/B.
Ⅱ. Presentation Work on 1a.
1. Use the color letters cards Ss made and present this dialogue:
---What’s this ---It’s S.
---What color is it ---It’s red/black and white.
2. Ss look at the picture and find out the colors.
3. Introduce some other words for colors in the same way as in step 1.
4. Ss read all the words together.
Ⅲ. Work on 1a
Ask Ss to look at the picture first, and read the letters.
Point out the words about colors in the left, and ask single student to read them .
Give Ss 2 minutes to finish 1a and then check the answers.
Ⅳ.Listening
Play the tape recording and Ss repeat them.
Then group the Ss and read group by group.
Ask single student to read. If they make mistakes, correct their pronuciation.
Ⅴ.Presentation
Write the short dialogue on the blackboard first.
-----What’s this / that -----It’s V / S.
-----What color is it -----It’s red / black..
Explain the sentence What’s this / that is use to ask something, and usually we use It’s +…. to answer it .After that, the teacher makes more sentences.
Then explain the sentence What color is it and also make some sentences.
Read them after the teacher.
Ⅵ.Practice
Ask one student to pracite the conversation with the teacher.
Have Ss to find partners to practice the conversations.
Choose some pairs to act the conversations out and give them praise if they do well.
Homework:
1. Read the conversations at least three times.
2. Remember the words about colors.
The Third Period (3a- 3d )
Teaching aims:
1. Continue to learn words about colors.
2. Let the Ss how to spell words.
Teaching keys:
Train Ss say the objects and spell the words.
Teaching difficulties:
Mater the ways to spell words.
Teaching steps:
Ⅰ. Greeting
Greet the class as usual.
Ⅱ. Dictation
Have a dictation about the words of colors.
Ⅲ.Revision
Revise the letters by using the color letter cards students made in the last period. Then can ask and answer like this:

-----What color is it -----It’s red/black and white.
Ⅳ. Practice
Show something to the class and ask them to make conversations.
Eg: -----What’s this -----It’s pen.
-----What color is it -----It’s /black.
Have Ss to talk about the things freely.
Find some Ss to practive the dialogues.
Ⅴ.Listening
Read the instructions first and let all the Ss know what they have to do next.
Play the tape recording and ask Ss to color the things.
Play for another time. Have Ss to complete the sentences and finish 3c.
Check the answers.
Ⅵ.Free talk
Have two Ss to read the sample conversation first.
Explain it and tell Ss to make conversations according what we listen just now.
Ss practice making dialogue, and the teacher give help if necessary.
Ask some to read theirs out.
Homework:
1. Finish the exercise in P10 of our exercise books.
2. Remember the words and read and copy the conversation learned today.
The Fourth Period (4a- 4d )
Teaching aims:
1. Review the 26 letters.
2. Master the pronuciation of the five vowel letters.
Teaching keys:
The pronuciation of the five vowel letters.
Teaching difficulties:
How to master the pronuciation of the five vowel letters correctly.
Teaching steps:
Ⅰ. Greeting
Greet the class as usual.
Ⅱ. Review
Review what learned last time by asking and answering questions.

-----Spell it, please. -----K-E-Y.
-----What color is it -----It’s red.
Ⅲ.ABC song
Watch and listen ABC song,then sing together.
Ⅳ. Work on 4a
Ask one student to write the 26 letters on the Bb, the others write on notebooks.
Check it and point something we must pay attention to.
Let Ss to look at the keyboard and write the small letters.
During this period, walk around the classroom and check them.
Ⅴ.Listening
Write the five vowel letters on the Bb.
List the different pronuciations of them one by one.
Listen to the tape and repeat.
Ask single student to read them, then all the Ss read together.
Ⅵ.Listen and read the chant
Focus attention on the chant lyrics. Explain they are about to hear a chant with these lyrics.
Play the chant the first time. Students just listen and follow the lyrics in their books.
Play the instrumental version of the chant. This time, students chant along with the tune.
Ⅶ.Groupwork
Get students pay attention to all the abbreviations appear around us,copy them down, try to find what they mean.Then tell your partners.Encourage students to search online or finish this homework in other ways.
