2. hardly ever 几乎从不
hardly用作副词，“几乎不”，表示否定概念，常和can, could等连用，位于动词be、情态动词或助动词后、行为动词前。
e.g. 他不太会说英语。 (翻译)
He can hardly speak English.
e.g. 彼得几乎不迟到。 (翻译)
Peter is hardly ever late.
hard adj. 困难的；难的 = difficult;
adv. 努力地、刻苦地、猛烈地 , （雨或雪）下得大。
e.g. He works hard only before exams.
It's raining hard, I can't hardly go out.
