“Mom, did you hear anything I, uh, I thought I saw an alien.”
“Are you all right Just a dream!” Mom answered.
Then I went back to my room. As I walked to the window, I cried. I saw a little alien, no more than three feet tall, with big and black eyes. It tried to run between my legs and get out through the window. Although I was scared, for some reason, I squeezed (挤) my legs together in time to catch it. It took out something and hurt me. I felt a terrible sense of nothingness and fainted (晕倒). Then I woke up.
At first, I could hardly move. I wasn't sure whether I had had a dream or not. I pulled myself out of the bed and walked downstairs. I saw my mom in the kitchen. From then on, I always dreamt about aliens and all the dreams felt so real. At that time, I really thought maybe I had some kind of relationship with aliens. It’s a scene in many homes around the world: tired-eyed teens wake to the sound of their alarm clock. Another school day begins, and we all wish we could have just one extra hour of sleep.
For lucky high school students in England, they*re now going to reset their alarm and get an extra hour of sleep. Instead of starting school at 9 a. m., students will begin the academic day at 10 a. m.
This is part of a huge study by Oxford University. The experiment will see whether later classes can improve exam results.
More than 100 schools across England will join the four- year experiment, which includes tens of thousands of students. It is based on scientific evidence that teenagers are out of step with traditional school hours.
“We know that something funny happens when you're a teenager,” lead sleep researcher Colin Epsie told The Telegraph. “Your parents think it's because you're lazy and everything would be OK if you could get to sleep earlier. But science is telling us that teenagers need to sleep more in the mornings.”
A similar experiment in 2009 saw an improvement of 19 percent in exam scores for major subjects — such as math and science.
Teenagers’ sleep cycles, on average, begin two hours after adults. Neuroscientists (神经科学家) say teens have a built-in clock, which makes them more likely to go to sleep around midnight as well as not feeling fully awake until between 9 a. m. and 10 a. m. This body clock stays until the age of 19 for females and 21 for males.
Schools are places for learning, as well as education laboratories — finding out the best ways to learn and increase knowledge.
52. England high school students usually start school _______.
A. at 7 a. m. B. at 8 a. m. C. at 9 a. m. D. at 10 a. m.
53. The aim of the experiment in 2009 was to ________.
A. find out whether later classes can improve exam results
B. test how students* body clocks work
C. compare teenagers5 and adults' sleeping patterns
D. help teachers to find the best way to teach
54. The article is focused on the topic that ________.
A. teenagers need more sleep than adults
B. students might need more hours' sleep in the morning
C. boys need more sleep in the morning than girls

The Mystery
On November 5th, 1872, the Mary Celeste left New York to sail to Italy. The captain, his wife and daughter and seven sailors were on board. But something terrible happened. The captain of another ship found the Mary Celeste floating (漂浮) in the middle of the sea on December 4th, 1872. The captain, his family and the sailors were not on the ship and were never found.
What happened Why did the sailors and passengers leave the ship The Mary Celeste was not broken. Everything was good. There was no fighting, no fire and no smoke sign. There was still plenty of food and drinking water left. There were signs that the captain, his family and the sailors had left the ship in a hurry. We could tell all these because there was half-eaten food on the table. The sailors also left all their clothing behind. Even their shoes were beside their beds.
How and when did the people leave the ship Some people said that the lifeboat (救生艇) was still on the ship but others said it was missing. The captain5s diary was found on the ship and the last entry (记录) was made on November 24th. So, we could only guess that the happening time was between November 24th and December 4th.

Is there anything strange high up in the world's tallest mountains If so, is it a big bear Is it a monkey Or is it a kind of man
No one knows. This mystery has puzzled (困惑) the world for years.
In 1887, a mountain climber found large footprints (脚印) in the snow. They looked like the footprints of a very large man. But men don't walk without shoes in the snow.
In 1906, another climber saw more footprints. Far off, he saw a very large animal standing on two legs. As he watched, it ran very quickly.
Fifteen years later, newspapers had new stories about the “something”. A mountain climber said he had seen the "snowman" walk slowly across the snow, far below him. He said it looked like a very large man.
From then on, more and more people had stories to tell. But not until 1951 did a mountain climber bring back pictures of large footprints. The pictures showed clearly that the “snowman" walked on two legs. So it was not a bear or a monkey. Could it be an ape (猿) man
