For a senior student, running is the best way for me to balance my stressful school life.
I take full advantage of any time available to run. For example, on the way to the dinning room
and dormitory, I’ll do short runs; the big breaks, PE lessons and the time before night rest are perfect
chances for longer runs.
Running gives me a strong body and I seldom get colds; running also helps to keep my spirits
high and I also make some friends through it.

weekend to celebrate Christmas. All government offices will be closed. There’s a big race on Friday

go four miles through town. On Saturday is the city festival. Many tables will be set up for six hours
on Main Street selling art, clothing, and food and drinks. Bring the whole family! It’ll be a fun time.
The last big news for the weekend is Sunday Sale Day. A lot of local stores will have big sales on
their items. You don’t want to miss those! Whether you are running, shopping, or meeting friends,

How to Keep Calm Under Pressure
xam pressure, job interviews and public speeches can all make you feel rather nervousyour
hearts racing, your voice sounds strange and your mind goes empty
36 Here are three easy
and effective tips that can help you keep calm
First, slow you breathing way down. Take a deep breath through your nose for five seconds,
hold it for a second, then push all the air out through your nose, slowly, counting to five
y breathing deeply and slowly, you can change the message your brain's receiving from"danger
to“ all is well
38
Only a single note or a song will do. Studies in how we control heart rate have
shown that humming can affect one of the most important parts of the body: the vagus nerve(x/ak
122), which is like a superhighway of communication, connecting the brain to the heart, lungs and
stomach, voice box, ears, and so on. So the next time you feel your heart racing, sing a song or just
hum a note
The final tip is to focus. When you are busy, you wish to do several things at the same time, but
if you want to stay calm and actually get things done, dont. 39 When you do two things at
once, it has to change between them very rapidly and floods your body with stress hormones (f/R
) So break your task down into small parts or steps, circle the one thing you need to do next and
forget about the other tasks until their time comes.
A. Second, try hi
(哼曲子)
B. Why are
you so nervous
C. What can you do to
D. It
make things worse
E Repeat a few times and you'll feel calmer
F. This method is used by sports coaches to help athletes focus
G. Studies show that your brain can only do one thing at a time
