Five years ago, when I taught art at a school in Seattle, I used Tinkertoys as a test at the beginning of a term to find out something about my students. I put a small set of Tinkertoys in front of each student, and said, “Make something out of the Tinkertoys. You have 45 minutes today and 45 minutes each day for the rest of the week.”
A few students hesitated to start. They waited to see what the rest of the class would do. Several others checked the instructions and made something according to one of the model plans provided. Another group built something out of their own imaginations.
Once I had a boy who worked experimentally with Tinkertoys in his free time. His constructions filled a shelf in the art classroom and a good part of his bedroom at home. I was delighted at the presence of such a student. Here was an exceptionally creative mind at work. His presence meant that I had an unexpected teaching assistant in class whose creativity would infect(感染) other students.
Encouraging this kind of thinking has a downside. I ran the risk of losing those students who had a different style of thinking. Without fail one would declare, “But I’m just not creative.”
“Do you dream at night when you’re asleep ”
“Oh, sure.”
“So tell me one of your most interesting dreams.” The student would tell something wildly imaginative. Flying in the sky or in a time machine or growing three heads. “That’s pretty creative. Who does that for you ”
“Nobody. I do it.”
“Really—at night, when you’re asleep ”
“Sure.”
“Try doing it in the daytime, in class, okay ”
4.The teacher used Tinkertoys in class in order to .
A.know more about the students
B.make the lessons more exciting
C.raise the students’ interest in art
D.teach the students about toy design

A.He liked to help his teacher.
B.He preferred to study alone.
C.He was active in class.
D.He was imaginative.
6.What does the underlined word “downside” in Paragraph 4 probably mean
A.Mistake. B.Drawback. C.Difficulty. D.Burden.
7.Why did the teacher ask the students to talk about their dreams
A.To help them to see their creativity.
B.To find out about their sleeping habits.
C.To help them to improve their memory.
D.To find out about their ways of thinking.

A large number of India’s urban(城区的) poor kids receive little or no education. Even if they enter a formal school, their dropout rates are very high. Door Step School (DSS) aims to bridge the huge gap between these kids and education.
True to its name, Door Step School sets up a school right at the doorstep of kids who can’t get formal education due to a variety of reasons.
The team at DSS follows a direct model—they set up a classroom in any area, a footpath, construction site, or underpass, where they foresee the greatest need. They look for proper locations, and after making sure that enough resources are in place, they accept students in the area. DSS provides lessons of different levels. The organization even tries to provide classes in the local language, or whatever the students choose.
Another interesting project of DSS is a school on wheels. It uses a bus that has been changed into a classroom, which holds about 25 kids at a time.
Since it was started in 1988, Door Step School has spread from Mumbai to the neighboring city of Pune in Maharashtra, covering a larger area and number of kids. Now DSS has a team of more than 1,000 volunteers and teachers who change more than 70,000 lives each year.
DSS doesn’t end at kids. The organization educates parents on the importance of sending their kids to school. Its efforts have brought education to thousands of students in the last two decades. Their belief in education for all has not only changed children’s lives but also continued the fight against one of the biggest problems India faces. All children have the right to education, and DSS is providing just that.
8.Why is the organization named “Door Step School”
A.It is different from formal schools.
B.It is usually built near students’ houses.
C.It sets up schools in areas with large populations.
D.It provides education wherever children can easily go.
9.What can we learn about the lessons provided by “Door Step School”
A.They are better than formal school lessons.
B.They include whatever a school can provide.
C.They suit children at different levels.
D.They are easy for kids to learn by themselves.
10.What is Paragraph 5 mainly about
A.The development of Door Step School.
B.The foundation of Door Step School.
C.The management of Door Step School.
D.The future of Door Step School.
11.It can be inferred that one of the biggest problems India faces is that .
A.there are no formal schools
B.many children receive no education
C.children refuse to attend schools
D.the country is short of teachers

When it comes to figuring out the link between well-being and access to nature, there are big confusing factors. To begin with, what is psychological(心理的)well-being The World Health Organization defines(下定义)mental health as “a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can deal with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”. That is hard to quantify.
Then there is the question of what “access to nature” means. Some studies measure passive access, or how much green space is available in someone’s local area. Others look at active access, which is the actual exposure a person gets to green space. That makes it difficult to compare results and build a coherent(协调的)picture.
A few researchers have tried to assess what the proper dose(剂量)of nature might be. A 2019 study involving almost 20,000 participants in England concluded that at least 120 minutes a week of recreational(消遣的)nature contact was connected with good health or well-being. The team, led by Mathew White, found that the effect peaks at between 200 and 300 minutes a week, with people reporting no further gain after that.
What exactly this means for you—or any individual—is unclear. As other studies indicate, the mental health benefits a person gets from access to nature are likely to be influenced by many factors, including age, gender, personality features, personal preferences and socio-economic status. Your culture matters too—and, so far, most research into the well-being effects of nature has been done in Western societies.
12.Which of the following might mean mental health according to WHO
A.Ignoring ones’ own abilities. B.Complaining about stresses.
C.Communicating effectively. D.Having high productivity.
13.How long should people stay close to nature every week to gain the most
A.50 minutes. B.150 minutes. C.250 minutes. D.350 minutes.
14.Why does the author feel uncertain about the finding
A.Studies haven’t provided any results so far.
B.Studies haven’t considered all the factors.
C.Studies were only done in Western societies.
D.Studies have misled the public over the results.
15.What can be a suitable title for the text
A.Why does nature affect health B.Who does nature influence
C.How much nature do I need D.How does nature benefit people

Then, taking morning exercise every day is a nice choice, which helps to build up your body. You can do some sports to refresh yourself if weather permits. Finally, don’t stay up too late otherwise you’ll suffer a lot every night.
I believe it would be beneficial if you could follow my suggestions. Hope you’ll feel well soon.
Yours sincerely,
Mary
