Confucius, a famous teacher , was a politician and philosopher who lived in “Spring and Autumn Period”. During his lifetime, he planted the seeds for China’s transformation by teaching thousands of people. Today, he is thought to be one of the world’s greatest teachers.
Confucius grew up in a poor family. As he grew up, Confucius worked to help his mother earn money. When he wasn’t working, he would read. His favorite thing to do was to learn. His mother saw this and did her best to help him learn. One day, rich families noticed how smart he was and offered him jobs counting their money and keeping track of their crops.
Confucius did this until he was 30 years old, but he always wanted to do more. He didn’t like the way rulers treated their subjects. He wanted to find a way to help people who were less fortunate than he was. Later, he founded the philosophy “Confucianism”. Confucianism states that by educating yourself, loving your family, and respecting tradition you could become a better person. Confucius believed a person could achieve these things by practicing self-discipline.For the rest of his life, Confucius traveled and taught the people of China about self-discipline and the importance of education. He even opened China’s first school that taught both the poor and the wealthy as equals. Although he became very famous among China’s lower classes, the rulers of China never accepted his teachings. Eventually, his philosophy of self-discipline helped China unite under one ruler and finally find peace. Today, Confucius is celebrated all over the world for his philosophy of education, equality, and peace over war, money, and injustice.

If you watched the 2018 Winter Olympics, then you might have noticed the suits that the athletes wore. Have you ever wondered why they look so unique Besides making the athletes look stylish, the suits can also help them move faster. This is especially true for speed skaters.
Wave your hand around in the air. You might feel some air moving around your hand, but you probably don’t think that it can slow your hand down. But if you wave your hand around in some water, you can feel that it is not easy to move your hand. This is called drag (阻力). Air has less drag than water, but it can affect your speed.
Speed skaters wear suits that reduce drag. The suit makes the surface of their body smooth. This way, the air moves more easily over their body and there is less drag.
The US speed skating team’s suits were made out of a white nylon-spandex (尼龙氨纶) mix called H1. When we move, we leave a vacuum (真空) hole of air behind us that can slow us down. Speed skaters need to make it as small as possible. The H1 fabric (织物) can help with this. The fabric makes the airflow behind moving objects more steady and therefore makes the hole smaller, Wired magazine reported.
The H1 fabric was used for the arms and legs of the team’s suits. That’s because human arms and legs move more and feel more drag.
Wearing high-tech suits might not decide the final victor in a competition. But the suits give athletes the best tool to do their job.
( )28. What was the main goal in making the speed skaters’ suits
A. To make them stylish. B. To reduce drag.
C. To help the body relax. D. To make air move slowly.
( )29. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to
A. A white nylon-spandex mix. B. The H1 fabric.
C. A vacuum hole of air. D. The airflow.
( )30. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
A. A special suit is a tool for athletes to do their job.
B. The H1 fabric is made out of cotton.
C. The H1 fabric was used to make the entirety of the suits.
D. Water has less drag than air.
( )31. What would be the best title for the passage
A.Skaters in Competitions B.Changes Happening in Suits
C.Ways of Changing Suits D.High-tech Suits for Skaters

Thirteen years ago, the Planet Earth wildlife documentary took us all on an amazing journey. We went from deep rainforests to the bottom of the ocean. Now a new one ,Our Planet, will let us see different animals and the influence of humans on the natural world. The documentary covers 50 countries and areas. It took more than four years to produce it.
With the latest 4K video technology, the show allows people a wonderful new look at nature. "People are given a chance to better get themselves into the lives of the animals” said Fothergill, one of the show s producers.
Besides showing Earth’s beauty, the documentary also talks about the planet's climate conditions. "Our Planet is here to say,' The planet is dying, and we're killing it.’" Fothergill said. In one sad scene, hundreds of walruses(海象),half-blind when out of the water, fall down a rock and suffer a painful death on the beach below. It shows how the climate conditions have influenced their natural habitat and explains why they've been forced to find the safe place on the rocks.
But the documentary is not all about sadness. It also talks about success stories, such as the ones of tigers. These animals are saved and live happily thanks to international agreements on environmental protection.
