Part 1.
Analysis of teaching material
This lesson is chosen from Unit 6 of Grade 8 published by PEP. It’s the first part of this Unit and mainly talks about jobs which is close to student’s daily life. After learning the lesson, students can make a good foundation for follow-up study and talk about future intentions. So this lesson is quite useful for them.
Part 2.
Talk about students
Students in Grade 8 have learned English for 5 years. They have mastered a mount of English words and sentences. They can cooperate with others to finish tasks. They are eager to show and eager to learn. But their ability of using English is limited. They still feel difficult in listening and speaking. Therefore, I will design some activities to help them to overcome difficulties.
Part 3.
Teaching Aims
Knowledge Aims:
Students are able to master new words, phrases and sentence patterns, such as computer programmer/ engineer/ polite
Ability Aims:
Students can improve their ability of listening and speaking. They can understand and use target languages.
Emotional Aims:
Students can talk about future intentions.
Important point: students can use target languages to communicate in their actual life.
Difficult points: students are able to improve their listening and speaking ability and use the structure of be going to and want to do to talk about future intentions.
Part 4.
Teaching and learning methods
To achieve the aims above, I will carry out the lesson with task-based teaching method and cooperative learning method. I’ll adopt question-and-answer activity and free discussion method to make the students smooth away the difficulties.

Step 1. Warm-up and lead-in
Play a song
The purpose is to set an environment for students to study, and also make them be prepared for the class.

Through discussion, the topic “job” is led in naturally.

Firstly, I will use pictures to lead new words computer programmer/ cook. The following words are learned in the same way , such as engineer/pilot and violinist. Students try to read the words and I correct their pronunciation. Then we will play a game: Ask one student to act it out and let others to guess what it is.

1. students skim the questions of 1b and make prediction. Then listen and fill in the blanks. We will check answers together. If they have difficulties, I will give help.

2d Listen and answer the following questions
1.In this step , students will listen to 2d and answer three questions. Then students read the conversation in groups and role-play it.
2.Then, work in groups and interview each other about their future intentions. And ask some groups to give a short report when finished.
The purpose of this activity is to extend students’ expressions with be going to and train their abilities to speak in public.

Step 5. Summary and Homework
First, I’ll let students retell what we have learned today. And then I’ll set the homework for students to describe “My dream job” with be going to structure.
The purpose is to master the knowledge they have learned and meanwhile, train the ability of do-it-yourself.

Self-reflection
After teaching this lesson, I think there are some good points and bad points in this lesson. On the one hand, I design some activities to practice the abilities of listening and speaking. By doing these activities, most students can understand and know how to talk about their future intentions. On the other hand, these activities may need a lot of time. So some students will not get chance to practice. So in the later teaching, I’ll consider how to save time and try to ask each group to show results.

Part 1. Analysis of teaching materials.
This lesson is chosen from Unit 6 of Grade 8 published by PEP. It’s the first part of this Unit and mainly talks about jobs which is close to student’s daily life. After learning the lesson, students can make a good foundation for follow-up study and talk about future intentions. So this lesson is quite useful for them.
Part 2. Talk about my students.

Part 4. Teaching methods and learning methods.

Part 5. Teaching procedures
I divide it into 5 steps.
Step 1 Warm-up and lead-in
At the beginning, I will play a song for students “ What you wanna be ” The purpose is to set an environment for students to study, and also make them be prepared for the class.
After that we will have a free talk “Do you know your parents’ jobs ” Students will discuss freely and show their answers. Through discussion, the topic “job” is led in naturally.
Step 2 Presentation
Firstly, I will use pictures to lead new words computer programmer/ cook. The following words are learned in the same way , such as engineer/pilot and violinist. Task 2
In this step , students will listen to 2d and answer three questions. Then students read the conversation in groups and role-play it.

Ask students to do some exercises.

Part 7. Self-reflection
After teaching this lesson, I think there are some good points and bad points in this lesson. On the one hand, I design some activities to practice the abilities of listening and speaking. By doing these activities, most students can understand and know how to talk about their future intentions. On the other hand, these activities may need a lot of time.
